INTRODUCTION
The primary aim of this ePortfolio is to focus on the project management approach highlighting
the potential challenges, project management tools and methods etc. that can be effectively used
in project management. Also, I will discuss the field of practice within project management that I
will use. I will also discuss strategies that will be used by me to engage with my stakeholders and
highlight the project management competencies that must be possessed by project managers. The
report will also contain a critical analysis of three scenario papers to discuss the issues and
different steps that can be taken to improve them.
SECTION 1 – PROJECT MANAGEMENT PROFILE
Project managers are generally responsible for performing several tasks related to a particular
project such as planning, organizing, ensuring that the project is completed with its specific
objectives and helps in achieving time and cost efficiency. I intend to become a project manager
who is creative enough and practical with the thought processes. Also, I want to manage projects,
people and expectations in a unique manner so that I can positively contribute towards the
project. Below are my goals that I intend to achieve as a project manager.
● To improve the project productivity and performance
● To improve team communication and collaboration
● To expand my knowledge on project management
● To execute high impact project
● To gain strategic understanding of the companies schools and accordingly implement
strategies
● To increase transparency and enhance stakeholder engagement

● To maximize my contribution towards the project
● To achieve resource optimization in the project (Alexander, 2021)
During my schooling, I was given an opportunity to organize a book fair wherein I was given the
duty to undertake the planning, organizing and inviting all the participants towards the fair. Also,
I was given the responsibility to consult my teachers from time to time and organize meetings as
and when required. To manage the book fair, the first step taken by me is to plan the things that
will take place and how they will take place. Accordingly, I prepared a budget to be presented to
the teacher. Constant meetings were organized wherein I used to discuss the progress that has
been made in the project and the next step that will be undertaken. Since, I was given the
deadline of 1 month to plan and I used all my skills and knowledge to perform in the project and
achieve success. On the day of the book fair, everything went well and as per the planning. I
received an appreciation from my school head which further increased my motivation and
confidence level. Also, the school head assigned me with the responsibility of planning and
organizing an annual day event and sports day within the school that were coming in the next six
months.
Project management is the process of leading the work of a day to achieve all the project goals
within the given constraints. While gaining knowledge on project management, one thing that I
have realized is that project management involves the use of skills, tools, specific knowledge and
techniques with the main aim to deliver something of value to people. The moment I found my
interest towards project management was increasing, I started gaining additional knowledge for
the same. I came to know that there are several challenges faced by project managers such as
team conflicts, lack of communication, setting appropriate goals and objectives, impractical
deadlines and absence of accountability etc. Furthermore, I came to know that major challenges
faced by project managers include time delays and cost overruns. Also, there are several factors
that contribute towards the time and cost delays within the Project. Such challenges have the
potential to negatively impact the motives of investors and shareholders. However, in the current
uncertain times there are several other factors such as managing the impact of covid 19,
managing material shortage due to supply chain disruptions etc. However, there are certain
project management tools that can be effectively used to manage such situations and challenges
such as using Waterfall methodology, Agile Project management, Critical path techniques,

rational unified process, programs evaluation and review technique etc. Also, I did not possess
effective knowledge for using these methods in project management so I decided to improve my
knowledge and gain requisite skills so that I can achieve my project management goals (Tabassi,
2019).
Upon gaining knowledge on project management, I came across the skills and knowledge that
must be possessed by a project manager such as effective communication, leadership, technical
expertise, risk management, critical thinking and problem solving skills, negotiation, scheduling
and time management skills, team management, building strong relationships etc. I realized that
there are several skills in which I lag behind and I decided to take effective steps for turning
them into my strengths (Sunindijo, 2015). To achieve the project management goals, skills and
knowledge described by me above, I will have to undertake certain steps so that I can maximize
my performance. Also, I decided to gain knowledge on how cost can be controlled during the
project so that the time and cost efficiency is duly achieved in the project. Furthermore, I decided
to become more proficient in the skills that are required by the project manager so that I can
maximize my contribution towards the project and enhance stakeholder engagement. Thus,
making improvements within me will help me in achieving my personal as well as professional
goals.
SECTION 2 – STAKEHOLDER ENGAGEMENT PROFILE
Since, my main future goal is to be a project manager who can help the investors and owners to
achieve the desired results so I will work to improve my skills and knowledge. After completing
my graduation, I would like to pursue my career within project management. For this, I decided
to gain knowledge on the types of projects that are undertaken within project management and I
came to know that manufacturing, construction, management and research are the four basic
types of projects. Upon gaining knowledge for each of the fields, I decided that I will work on
management and research projects. Within management projects, projects are mainly focused on
undertaking designing and testing of a new software relocation of the company's headquarters
and changes in the production stages of the company etc. The skills and knowledge possessed by
me will help me in completing my management and Research projects effectively and efficiently.

Also, with the help of these two types of projects within project management I will be able to
achieve my future goals.
In addition to this, while I was gaining knowledge on project management I came across internal
and external stakeholders to the project and the importance of engaging them within the project.
In relation to this, (WU & EISNER, 2018) discussed that stakeholders have an important to role
to play in a project. Also, the author described that it is necessary to follow a stakeholder
approach in project management that helps in providing project managers with the
comprehensive framework to describe the stakeholders and the likely impact day will have on
the project. This tool will also help in prioritizing the project stakeholders based on the impact
they will have. Since, stakeholders have significant contribution towards project resources,
budget and project requirements so it is necessary to build long term relationships with
stakeholders and ensure that customer satisfaction is maximized. Also, stakeholders’ satisfaction
and customer’s satisfaction are the key ingredients of the project success. Thus, following
appropriate strategies will help in keeping the stakeholders engaged, satisfied and maximize the
project contribution towards the success.
To engage internal stakeholders within the project, there are different strategies that will be
followed within the project management such as developing great relations with the internal
stakeholders so that the business records and business information can be duly accessed. This
will also help me in setting clear goals and developing appropriate project framework and
structure to communicate goals and objectives to internal management. Also, this will help me in
clearly communicating the rules and responsibilities that must be performed by employees. In
relation to this, (Chebbi et al., 2020) discussed certain engagement strategies for internal
stakeholders to enable the implementation of organizational change. The researcher described
that the first step that must be taken by the project manager is to identify internal stakeholders
that impact the project and develop project policies and procedures in such a manner so that they
can be easily assessed by all the stakeholders. Also, this involves making the project procedures,
requirements and processes more clearly to the internal stakeholders so that they can work in
accordance with them. For engaging stakeholders, it is also important two conduct a gap analysis
for the employees to know the areas where they lag behind so that the training can be provided to
them.

In addition to all these strategies, I as a project manager will ensure that all the project schedule
reports are easily available and accessible to all the stakeholders. Also, (Rudawska et al., 2018)
discussed that to manage and influence the internal stakeholders within the project it is necessary
for the project manager to understand the stakeholder community i.e., gaining knowledge on
their needs and expectations from the project. Also, prioritizing the needs of key stakeholders
and aligning objectives with their needs will further help in maximizing the motivation for
internal stakeholders and improving their performance level so that the desired goals can be
achieved. Thus, I decided that I will also follow these strategies so that I can maximize the
engagement from internal stakeholders and improve their contribution towards the project.
Similarly, it is also necessary for the project manager to engage external stakeholders so that the
project goals can be duly achieved. Since, projects may contain stakeholders from different
cultural backgrounds and demographics so it is necessary for me to gain knowledge on necessary
cultural differences that can arise within the project and the impact they can have on the
business. Also, it is important for me to gain training on different steps that can be undertaken to
overcome the cultural differences among stakeholders and maximize their contribution towards
the goals. In addition to this, (Herremans et al., 2015) stated that stakeholder mapping will help
in conducting a thorough stakeholder’s analysis. Using this analysis, will help me in identifying
my stakeholders and undertaking effective strategies for engaging them. For external
stakeholders also, I will conduct a need assessment analysis wherein their needs will be analyzed
and aligned with the project objectives so that the stakeholders can be attracted towards the
project and the desired goals can be achieved.
Thus, after gaining above knowledge, I have decided that, I will use the several strategies for
engaging internal and external stakeholders such as
 Identifying the stakeholders that are associated with the project
 Undertaking need assessment analysis to analyze their needs and expectations from the
project
 Analyzing current customer trends and cost effective measures that can be used to
achieve the project
 Developing project objectives and aligning them with their expectations
 Communicating the project goals policies and procedures to all the stakeholders

 Organizing time to time meetings with the stakeholders
 Developing reports and discussing the project progress
 Obtaining the feedback of stakeholders
 Discussing the end outcome of the project
SECTION 3 – CRITICAL REVIEWS
Critical Review of ‘The Every Teacher Project’
Summary of the Project Management Issue
Every Teacher Project humanitarian and social science Research National study of Canadian
educators and perceptions regarding the LGBTQ inclusive education system. The project
involves the development of a knowledge mobilization toolkit for the Teachers along with
other individuals who can support an inclusive education system. Also, the project aimed to
help the advocates for LGBTQ to enhance inclusion at the school systems. This project is
undertaken with the partnership of the Manitoba Teachers' Society and teacher organizations
formulated in different states.
Lack of engagement for the LGBTQ community within the society is increasing which has
further resulted in decreasing opportunities for them, lack of appropriate training, lack of
proper resource allocation strategies and systems. Also, lack of leadership for the non -
adoption of LGBTQ communities within the inclusive education system can also be the major
issue. In addition to this, the LGBTQ community is unable to get support from teachers in
Catholic schools to improve their skills. Thus, it can be said that the basic principles of ethics
such as fairness and justice are lacking in the case of LGBTQ communities.
What would I have done differently
Had I been the part of this project, the first and foremost step that would have been taken by
me would have been to improve the engagement of LGBTQ communities within the society.

For this, I would have taken all the necessary steps so that their development can be enhanced.
Apart from this, I would have also focused on maximizing the project performance by
developing a clear project management plan that will help in gaining a defined scope and
implementation plan for the project. Also, I would have laid my focus towards undertaking
certain strategies that will help in ensuring that the LGBTQ community has access to various
educational initiatives being taken within the society. This can also be promoted through a
collaborative approach within the project management wherein all people can work together to
achieve the common goals. Taking all these measures would have helped me in performing
this project in a better and more improved manner.
Critical Review of ‘ASTRAZENECA - Fighting a Global Pandemic’
Summary of the Project Management Issue
With the widespread of covid - 19, ASTRAZENECA recognized the need of developing and
supplying a vaccine in the market that will help people in beating the disease of covid - 19.
AstraZeneca partnered with the Oxford University with the main aim to make a difference in
the countries and save the lives of people. This landmark partnership brought together world-
class expertise in vaccinology with AstraZeneca’s ability to deliver a global solution at scale.
Also, the proven manufacturing capability of the company and a strong supply chain network
would help them in the development of highly effective vaccines that can be administered
around the world.
The major issues that arise within such kind of projects are uncertainties and reputation risk.
Also, this type of project demanded simultaneous investment in several clinical programs for
emergency use authorization by authorities such as the FDA. Increasing complexity within
such projects decreases the success rate of the project.
What would I have done differently

If I would have been employed to handle the project, then I would have developed a proper
procedure highlighting how various analyses will take place. Also, in these plans I would have
conducted a brief but detailed overview of the resources that are required in managing the
project and how they can help in achieving the desired results. In addition to this, I would have
also maximized the control on quality and overcoming the quality issues so that various quality
standards can be fully complied with. It was essential to have a separate office that could
enable the focus on contract deliverables rather than running the project and managing the
team, because it really takes a different mindset. Undertaking these steps would have helped
me in managing the project effectively and allowing the project to contribute maximum
towards the development and achieve the desired goals.
Critical Review of ‘Indigenous Relationally and Project Management’
Summary of the Project Management Issue
Garden River First Nation community-led water quality monitoring program. The main aim of
this project was to develop community-led water monitoring in a local Indigenous community.
A proper design has been formulated under this project that details the working and overview
of how the newly developed system will actually work. This project is undertaken in
partnership with NORDIK Institute at Algoma University along with the four national NPOs to
collaborate and work are Waterlution, Water Rangers, Swim Drink Fish and The Gordon
Foundation. This project is expected to be completed by the spring of 2022 and has the aim to
generate local water quality data, educate and empower the community members and
understand the needs of local waters.
The major challenge that exists within the project is that the dominant practice followed is not
conducive to appropriately capture and apply different forms of technology and knowledge to
manage the processes effectively and efficiently.
What would I have done differently

In order to manage this project effectively and efficiently, I would have to co-create shared
spaces, with processes and practices that respect multiple ways of knowing and doing the task.
Also, I would have recognized the validity of all sources of knowledge and recognize the
validity of all the sources of information that exist within the market. Making these changes
would have helped in gaining a right answer towards various issues taking place and dealing
with them appropriately.

Improving quality of the products supplied
There was an incident wherein I was given the responsibility to analyze the quality of the product
supplied by that company in the market. I decided to gain customer feedback and conduct
internal analysis to determine the quality and I found that most of the products sold by the
company were not of appropriate quality. I used my critical thinking skills to analyze different
strategies that can be opted within the company. In addition to this, I discovered that using
machine learning algorithms can help in improving the product quality. Accordingly, I conducted
risk assessment to analyze various risks that exist with the implementation of technology and
developing effective strategies for overcoming them. However, I found that with the
implementation of this technology, the business will be able to improve the product quality.

Managing exhibitions
I have been a part of several exhibitions through teamwork with the main responsibility of
planning and organizing things in such a manner so that more customers are attracted towards
the exhibition. In 2019, I was given an opportunity to organize an event on an individual basis.
The moment I got this opportunity I started undertaking certain measures such as deciding the
resources that will be needed, preparing a budget for the same, contacting different groups to
demonstrate their work during the exhibition etc. Apart from this, I also undertook space
management at the location and project human resource management to achieve the project
goals. During this period, I found the relationship building skills to be highly useful as I was able
to attract almost 10 groups towards the exhibition through my contacts. Also, cost estimating and
project resourcing skills possessed by me further helped me in taking effective measures for
ensuring that all the resources are duly complied with and the necessary goals are achieved.

Managing Meetings and discussions
During the school project, I was given the case study on a company wherein I was to suggest
some changes in the marketing strategies of the company. Upon review I found that bringing
digital marketing strategies will help the company in attracting more customers towards them. I
had to take different strategies that can be opted for achieving the same which required me to
make effective use of critical thinking skills and decision making power. I had to manage my
relationships with employees and senior management effectively so that I can help the company
to grow and develop. However, I was supposed to conduct a meeting with all the managers are
propose the solution that has been selected so that the necessary improvements can be made.
Also, I was able to ensure that all people attend these meetings and are able to gain access to all
the information related to the meeting.

CONCLUSION
In a nutshell it can be said that, Project management is the process of leading the work of a day
to achieve all the project goals within the given constraints. While gaining knowledge on project
management, one thing that I have realized is that project management involves the use of skills,
tools, specific knowledge and techniques with the main aim to deliver something of value to
people. In this report, different strategies have been proposed for enhancing stakeholder
engagement within the project and a critical review of three different scenarios was undertaken.
Also, I analyze the project management competencies possessed by me along with certain
examples. Thus, this report has helped me in widening my knowledge on project management
and the likely future goals that I will achieve so that I can maximize my performance and
contribution towards the desired goals.
