Live your life with integrity, lose with dignity, win with humanity
We are offered with different choices every day; some are easy to choose while others cause
stress and comes with substantial consequences. Life is all about making a correct choice no
matter how difficult the choice may be. The choices we make defines us and determine our
character. Many people choose to live their lives with integrity, no matter how tough their
choices may seem to be, they will always choose a life filled with moral values and honesty.
A person’s personal integrity fully depends on themselves and their will power. One’s action
is depended on their moral values. Their actions, emotional response and habits, all join
together to form their character. Not only do actions reflect the goodness or badness of one’s
character, one’s actions also change one’s character. Actions and character are entangled
intimately with one another. A person’s character also effects the society and the community.
If everyone in the community will be dishonest and without any morals, people living in it
will not flourish and the children will turn out to be fraudulent. Sometimes it may seem that
being dishonest and leaving our integrity is a much easier choice as it will result in a lot of
profit. But if we look at the big picture, it will disrupt our soul and will make us a fraudulent
human being. Living a life with integrity and dignity will improve one’s quality of life and
uphold their position in the society. If a person prefers integrity over luxury, they will choose
dying with dignity rather than leaving their values and honour behind. Being a dignified
person is knowing one’s self worth and having a sense of pride within. A person with dignity
is respected by all and looked up to. An individual should know the value of dignity, as
money and luxury if lost can be gained in no time, but integrity and dignity can never be
regained. In this modern era, it is hard for a person to live a dignified life. At every step they
will be challenged and have to choose reality over dignity. But a true honourable and
dignified individual, whatever the circumstances may be will always opt for the choice where
his dignity is not compromised. Some people prefer dying with dignity rather than living a

fake life in this corrupted world. We shouldn’t lose our self-respect and dignity trying to fit in
this world and being loved by the people who are not even capable of that honour. Dignity
cannot be measured in terms of price or money. To be able to live each day with respect,
honour and dignity is the greatest achievement for a person. Some people feel that death with
dignity is better than life with humiliation. A man should be so dignified that nothing in the
world can shake the pillar of his honour. As Nelson Mandela once said “any man that tries to
rob me of my dignity will lose”. Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (JROTC), a federal
programme is created for the young adults to build character, ethical skills and discipline.
JROTC aims at creating a well-disciplined, dignified citizen. A student of the JROTC is
expected to be flexible, loyal and an integral individual.
Integrity, dignity and humanity goes hand in hand. Being humble is not a sign of weakness,
rather it is a sign of strength. Achieving something with hard-work, integrity and knowledge
doesn’t give an individual a right to be disrespectful to others. Being proud is one’s right, but
boasting about the accomplishment or possessions does not make us better that others. In fact,
it being humble about our achievements make us a better person and it proves that we have
acquired inner peace. People are not attracted to the person who always boast about their
success. They are won over by those who are down-to-earth, modest, grounded with values
and authentic. Humanity is caring for others and forgetting about one’s selfish desires and
helping the needy. Being human is a difficult task.. The purpose of life is to be useful,
honourable and compassionate; as a generous heart, a kind little speech can renew humanity
in humans. This world that we have created is a process and result of our thinking and it can
only be changed if we change our rational. To walk safely through the maze of human life,
one needs the light of wisdom and guidance of virtue. Without virtue and humanity life has
no meaning and human existence will be questionable.
