INTRODUCTION
Professional skills are those skills which describes personality trait, a habit or ability that
favourably affects performance of an individual in its workplace. Within business, professional
skills like leadership, teamwork and problem-solving plays an important role in growing the
career. It also builds relationships at workplace along with improving job performance (Rozkrut,
M. and Rozkrut, D., 2019). This report is related to the plagiarism and academic integrity for
developing the professional skills for business and finance. Plagiarism is the concept of stealing
the matter of others and forming it into own words or thoughts with or without their consent.
Within present report, concept of Academic plagiarism will be discussed along with relevancy of
academic integrity to professionalism in context to business environment.

Academic Plagiarism and relevance of academic integrity to professionalism in a business
environment
Plagiarism is a process of representing the thoughts or work of someone else, with or
without their consent, in own words or opinion. To avoid plagiarism, it is a best way to employ
and exercise values of good academic practice from starting of the career. It is related to a
process in which credit of other people is taken by someone else while using ideas and work of
original sources. Academic plagiarism is occur when a writer makes a frequent use of more than
four words through a published source without using any quotation symbol or any precise
reference of original source (Coffey, Anyinam and Zitzelsberger, 2018). Repeatedly using
paraphrasing process by not taking it serious with point of view of another person is also a form
of academic plagiarism. Academic plagiarizers takes action in a similar way and are supposed to
make a copy of entire book. It is an unethical process as it is considered as a kind of theft in
which someone's data is stolen by others with or without their consent. At initial stage of
academic learning, a student prefers to make a copy of contents or project of others but it arises
problems in future. In later period, when they will become professionals then at that time they
will face the problems related to concepts and their applications (Sbarba and et.al, 2020).
Because of copying others content they will not be able to clear their own concepts which will
become a major drawback of them. For becoming a better personality or professional, it is very

important for an individual to avoid academic plagiarism. It will help them within their business
in explaining the concepts and provides directions to their subordinates.
A process of presentation and commitment of honesty and moral values in an academic
setting is termed as academic integrity. It is a key to learning, research and sharing ideas or
information at academic level. Academic integrity permits freedom to teachers and students for
developing new thoughts and information at the time of acknowledging and respecting the task
of other people (Rao, D., 2020). This process is a concept of application of self principles
which helps an individual to do right things even when other people are not present. In other
words, carrying academic honesty in such a way that a personnel can do its work by
eliminating the presence of its colleagues even after offering them help.
There are five pillars of academic integrity, namely, honesty, fairness, respect, trust and
responsibility. Honesty provides a base for maintaining integrity and being loyal to
organisation brings favourable results within the business. It helps in setting a tone for working
culture that a personnel wants to create in its business. Fairness within workplace ensures that
decisions made by professors of a company are in a reasonable and fair manner. It helps in
decision making process and also makes the employees happy in the organisation. Respect is
an essential pillar academic integrity and it is relevant to professionalism as it make employees
satisfied within the business (Glendinning, 2020). A respectful environment of working
facilitates in boosting morale of employees as well as generates a more productive and positive
business environment. It also provides assistance to employees in their personally and
professionally development. Trust provides a base of all interactions and relationships and
plays an important role in professional relationships as it is significant in personal ones.
Working environment of a business is able to adopt trust with stronger sense that helps in
expansion of productivity of company and morale of employees (Cohen, L. and Wirtz, P.,
2021). Professional responsibility assists in establishing the rules for employees behaviour and
managers within the company must ensure that tasks are properly assigned to their employees
or not.
Academic integrity is relevant to professionalism because it provides assistance in
building trustful relationship within the business. Trust is a essential part within the business
that results in successful progress of organisation. Prosperous people are generally aware of the
advantages to act with integrity. Secondly, academic integrity is significant in business

environment because it creates value of an individual. Persons having great personal integrity
develops a better chance within them in the organisation. Those persons make a preference of
dealing with people who are favourably influencing business development as well as can be
trusted to achieve objectives of company (Yeh, 2021). Process of academic integrity is
essential within business environment as it provides self-confidence that facilitates an
individual to accept any given task. It also offers peace of mind when things are done right at
the right time. This tool provides assistance to a personnel in developing ethical aspects that
results in taking correct decisions within the business (Kaizer and et.al, 2019). Academic
integrity is relevant to professionalism as it helps in developing professional skills within an
individual so that it can take better business decisions. It facilitates people of an organisation to
take actions with responsibility, respect, courage, honesty, trust and fairness in their work.
Academic integrity brings potentiality within the individuals to lead and guide their
subordinates while completing the given task.
CONCLUSION
From above discussion, it is interpreted that professional skills are those skills through
which one can get success in its business. In existing report, concept of academic plagiarism and
relevance of academic integrity to professionalism in business environment is explained. In the
process of plagiarism, the thoughts and work of other people are stolen and are converted into
own opinion and words. This concept must be avoided to develop and enhance professional
skills to meet the objectives of the organisation in an effective and efficient way. Above
explanation states that academic plagiarism is a process in which other person's credit is stolen
by someone else by utilizing its ideas and work from original sources. Concept of academic
integrity provides an individual a stress-free life and also provides assistance in increasing the
productivity of business.
