Hitler and Stalin: Roots of Evil
Adolf Hitler and Joseph Stalin, are the two most infamous personality of the 20th
century who had changed the course of history through blood and war and both of them
shared a similar kind of background and characteristics. In the present essay an analysis of
these two personalities on the individual, state and international level.
On an individual level, it can be said that the both of them had troubled childhood
with violent fathers and an artistic side of themselves. Although Hitler was very close to his
mother, but for Stalin, he had no such connection with anyone. Both of them had problems
with women and treated them with great contempt and inhibition and the wife and mistress of
both these personalities had a mysterious death. Moreover, the two personalities are said to
have been suffering from Paranoia, and even Stalin was diagnosed with acute paranoia by a
doctor who was found dead mysteriously, the same evening of the diagnosis (Adolf Hitler
and Joseph Stalin: Roots of Evil, 2019). Therefore, this evidently influenced the political
behaviour that the world had seen.
Further, to evaluate between these two personalities, on the state level, it is seen that
both of them were detrimental to their countries with mass killing and eradication. Hitler had
killed about six million Jews and hundreds and thousands of homosexuals and citizens whom
he thought to be a threat. Similarly, in case of Stalin, it was his great ambition and the belief
that, to kill is the only way for not getting killed, was his reason for mass killing and
controlling behaviour which earned him a negative reputation among his own country-men.
(Pauley. 2014). Further, both of them practised the concept of “second death” and the belief
that everyone is an enemy around them.
On an international level, Hitler was more aggressive than Stalin. Hitler wanted to
establish a superior German class worldwide, whereas, Stalin tried to spread the message of
communism all through the world and for that both chose the path of war.
