1. Skills identified in BUS800 to support learning and assessment completion
I have utilized the skills like academic writing, referencing and assessing that I gained
throughout the duration of my course to support my learning and assessment completion by
preparing assignments in a professional manner which satisfies all the specified requirements so
that I can score more marks and grades than other fellow students. I also utilized analytical skills
gained throughout my course during performing group tasks and projects. I have also utilized
the academic learning skills that I gained throughout the duration of my course in completing
internships in an effective and productive manner so that it could boost my chances of getting
selected for the job role on a permanent basis after completion of my internship period. I have
also utilized the skills which I have gained throughout the duration of my course while attending
various job interviews where I needed to demonstrate my professional skills and capabilities in
order to get preferred over candidates.
2. Discussion on academic practice and area improved
The area of academic practice according to me which I have improved the most is critical
analysis. During the duration of the course, we had to conduct critical analysis on various topics
which was instructed to us by our lecturer in order to improve our critical analysis ability. As
opined by Butkovic (2018) before the commencement of the course I had very limited idea
regarding how to conduct critical analysis on a particular topic and the components of critical
analysis but after the completion of the course duration I am able to conduct critical analysis in
an effective and systematic manner.101/100

As opined by Price (2014) the area of academic practice that I believe that I am still developing
is professional writing. Academic writing skill is very essential is very important in context of
my academic career and also in context of my professional career as it will enable me to reflect
my thoughts and knowledge in a written and therefore I feel that I am still developing my
academic writing skills regarding construction of report and representation of my knowledge in
an integrated manner. I believe that I am still developing my professional writing skills as I
analysed that I am not enjoying the desired feeling of satisfaction when someone else is reading
aloud my writings.
4. Outline of actions taken now and in future
The action which I will take undertake in order to improve my professional writing skill is
expanding my vocabulary which will not only able me to recognize lot of words but also will
enable me to use them correctly. As stated by Boyle et al. (2017) in order to improve my
vocabulary I will focus on learning new words with example sentences and not only just learning
the word list. The action which I will undertake in the future in order to improve my professional
writing skills by reading regularly as it is observed that we learn to write best by reading and
therefore in future I will regularly indulge in reading articles, newspaper and blogs. The action
which I will undertake in the future in order to improve my professional writing skills is
subscribe to the bogs and articles of various eminent writers and renowned corporate
personalities in order to read their articles and blogs and accordingly take lessons from their
professional writing skills.
5. Discussion on skills most useful for employment in workplace
As opined by Baird (2016) the skills which I believe will become most important for me in
context of my employment in the workplace are critical analysis and professional writing skills. I
consider critical analysis as a very important skill for employment in workplace as critical
analysis helps in providing in detailed insights and idea regarding a topic or a situation which is
considered very important in context of decision making. Critical analysis skill is also considered
important in context of employment in workplace as it helps in developing the analytical skills of

individuals which is very important for professional context. I also consider professional writing
as a very important skill for employment in workplace as the professional writing skills helps in
preparation of business reports and newsletter which helps in ensuring the effectiveness of the
communication strategy of the organization. Professional writing skill is also considered vital as
it helps in demonstrating the intelligence and professionalism of an individual which is
considered as very vital in professional context. Professional writing skills are also considered
important as it helps in boosting professional confidence, as business documents are directed
towards attracting investors and suppliers and also attracting potential target customers for an
organization and therefore if the purpose of writing the professional document helps in bringing
desired results for the organization it helps in boosting the confidence of the individual.
Professional writing skills also help in creating a difference between an ordinary candidate and
an extra-ordinary candidate during a recruitment process and the candidate who demonstrates
extra ordinary skills through professional writing is more preferred over an ordinary candidate
with ordinary professional writing skills. Professional writing skills also helps in creating a solid
web presence of individuals which eventually helps in attracting recruiters towards the online
profiles of candidates therefore increasing employment chances.
