Introduction
The research skills can be referred to as an ability which involves searching for, extracting,
evaluating, locating, organizing or may be using the information which is relevant to the specific
topic. In international business context, these skills plays an essential role as it involves
searching as well as selecting the quantitative and qualitative data and then analyzing and
interpreting it so that that data can be transformed in the useful information in order to conduct
the research on the specific business issue (Behroozi and et. al., 2020). The research skills are
very much necessary for the workplace as it includes or may be allows the organizations and
individuals to make identification of the problems which may be hindering the performance at
workplace and learning some new ways in which the things can be evolved and adapted in order
to meet the workplace demands. This report will include three task, of which first includes
mistakes in the interview sessions and second part is the example of the good interview session.

In this task, interviewer named Alison Jones who took the interview session with Shae
Bloomer and she is nurse by profession. During this interview session, interviewer did many
mistakes and the explanation about the mistakes which are done by the interviewer are discussed
below-

After watched the video, there were certain mistakes which many done by the interviewer are
given below -
How the interviewer introduced the research topic to the interviewee.

Interviewer was over expressive and also very talkative and the way she introducted the topic is
not correct ethically. Interviewer adopted the unstructured approach which affected the
motivation of the interviewee.
Interviewer did not followed proper discipline and also Standardized, that was not planned well
in advance interviews in which prospects are asked a predetermined series of questions are
significantly not trustworthy than secret negotiations. This informal interview results in far more
detailed analyses of prospects, resulting in better selections in the end. The whole process of
interview was not well managed which created so many problems for the interviewee. During
the interview session, initially was uncomfortable the way interviewer given the explanation
about the topic of the interview (Hahonou, 2019). For instance, the interviewer was very fast in
explaining the key purpose of the interview and introduced the aim of it immediately and did not
took any of the response from the interviewee.
The speed at which the interviewer talked.
Interview was very much talkative and also asked the question in high speed which created so
many problems for the interviewee. At initial level, interviewee felt hesitated and also she face
problem to answer the questions because interviewer not paying more attention in her
conversation. The speed of the interview is high and over expressive so that is also considered as
the biggest mistake of that particular interview. For instance, when the interviewee talked about
her experience as the nurse, the interviewer immediately changed the question without
responding to it and took the interview in speedy manner.
Interviewer behavior during the interview, including:
In context of interviewer behavior, there are certain things considered which are containing as
the main mistake of that particular interview that are discuss below -
o Her general behavior - the body language of the interviewer was not correct, she was over
expressive and also used more hand and eyes expressions that was looks like informal and
inappropriate.
o Her body language - the body language of the interview was not proper and interview of so
many questions at the same time. That particular interview session was not done in a proper
manner because interviewer behaved improperly and her body language was informal.
o Her approach to building rapport with the interviewee - her approach to building Di

ask with the same question again with the interviewee. She did not pay attention on the
conversation with the interviewee (Marker and Norton, 2018).
o Her listening skills - listening skills of the interview was not good because she used phone
during the interview session and distracted so many times and also confused.

Interview was not respectful because she was not behaving properly with the interviewee while
taking the interview.

question again and again. There was lack of proper questions which were relevant for the

The way interview ended the interview session was not appropriate because she randomly wind
up the interview session which was unpredictable.

another questions effectively and considered each and every prospective of the interviewee. an
which is also regarded as the effective part of the interview session.

They are various things noticed from this interview session and determined where you things
which made this interview session very much successful the explanation about some specific
factors which are considered are given below -
o Her general behaviour
Interviewer behave positively with the interviewee which is containing as the most appropriate
part of the interview session. The behaviour of the interview is cosmetic and very motivating and
supportive which provide strength to the interviewee that is the reason the candidate answer all
the questions effectively.
o Her body language
Interviewee behaved professionally and the body language of the interviewer was good and
impressive. During the entire interview session, Interviewee was more influenced by the
interview and also takes it this interview as a good and impressive session. The hand movement
and eye expressions of the interview were right (Williams, 2018)
o Her approach to building rapport with the interviewee
Her technique to compiling the building report with the interview was .very effective because
she was very much focused and asked the relevant question to the respondent. She was
completely oblivious to the interviewee's speech.
o Her listening skills
They listening skills of the interviewer was impressive and interview was considered as the good
listener who listen each and every prospective and discussion factors effectively and also asked
correct questions to the interviewee.

adopted unexpected approach and also her body language was not good. Interview was distracted
and also continuously utilised her mobile phone. Interviewer the question again and again and
got confused so many time so as per the observation of the participant the first interview is full of
mistakes and participant become more alert and aware about the mistakes which most of the

In case of the second interview, which is considered as the best example of the interview
session? That interview session is more concerned by the participant because it will help to
motivate them in order to conduct an interview. On the basis of participant observation, the
mood and behavior, active listening, strategies employed in the interview session, body
language, and the quality of the questions asked in the interview to the interviewee. During this
session, which had was more conscious about the topic and also interviewer had the relevant and
propriet information about the topic. Interviewer took a structure and formal strategy and also
that her body language was poor. Interview was more focusedand was always on her phone. The
interviewer repeated the question and motivationed the interviewee so many times. Particular
interview session is containing as the best example of the interview which will motivate the
participant so that participant can take idea with the help of this interview in order to conduct the
interview session in future.
o What is meant by overt or covert participant observation?
In case of the overt, there are various factors are easily observable by the participant like mistake
of the interview related with their behaviour model language and also listening skills. Some good
qualities are also observable by the participant which is related with the asked good quality of
questions to the interviewee.
In case of the covered, it is analysed that minor information was not observable why the
participant which is related with the technique of interview session.
o The advantages and disadvantages of overt and covert participant observation
Covert observation has the advantage of having a high level of validity because people are
watched in natural settings and the Hawthorne Effect is avoided because they are unaware that
they are being observed. Covert observation, on the other hand, has the drawback of raising a
host of important issues.
In terms of qualitative research, participant observation offers more flexibility than other
methodologies that take this approach. It enables the researchers to reserve judgment, allowing
them to pursue alternative ideas, theories, and approaches if anything really fascinating arises
throughout their research.

On the basis of this interview session it is determine that the participant utilized qualitative
research method and opted the observation method techniques in order to gather the appropriate
and first handed information with the help of interview sessions.
Conclusion
On the basis of this report, it can be concluded that Research skills are particularly
important in the workplace since they help companies and people to identify problems that may
be obstructing their efficiency and learn new ways to increase and adjust things to satisfy
working expectations. This report will have three tasks, the first of which is a list of faults made
during depth interview, followed by an example of a good interview conducted.
