Reflection essay
With the management of feedbacks, I prepared reflection on the essay about the things
that happened generally, which involve the assessment of international business environment
and about the business organisations aiming to make decisions and finding motives to
internationalise. I have been assigned with the role of module leader to carry out the various
tasks, which can also facilitate my learning experience and intellectual skills. The task was
challenging a bit, though it helped me to improve my skills and knowledge to the utmost
level possible. As the module leader, I made sure to assess competitive drivers, Government
drivers, market drivers and cost drivers for raising the potential for globalisation or
international business environment. According to Moritz, Hill and Donohue (2013), the
identification of motives behind tasks and challenges experienced while managing
international business should be done. The task has helped me to improve my communication
skills, leadership skills, team working knowledge and skills along with tacit skills and
intellectual knowledge as well (Moritz, Hill and Donohue 2013). It also helped me in
examining the transnational organisations and understand the different issues and challenges
that are associated with the attainment of competitive advantage from the global business
management perspective. As stated by Moon (2013), few problems that were experienced
include poor research aspects considering the target business, incompatibility of culture, loss
of main staffs, high financial risks associated with the global business management, poor
growth and ineffective legislative measures (Moon 2013). There are multiple solutions to the
issues and as the module leader, I made sure to facilitate communication and team work
among the individuals who are working on the module, furthermore ensured managing the
resources effectively along with responding to the customers’ needs and preferences with
much ease and effectiveness. I made the team members understand about the value chain
approach considering the primary and support activities involving maintenance of firm

infrastructure, management of human resources, development of technology, procurement
and at the same time, facilitating the inbound logistics, outbound logistics operations,
marketing and sales (Campitelli and Gerrans 2014).
Yes, definitely this has been linked with the Porter’s value chain process, while the
industry leadership theory has helped in making me capable of making choice over
compliance, manage controllable creation process, implement various laws and rules to
innovate furthermore create a new design and ensure manipulation of market demands and
expectations with ease. As a HRM approach, Noe et al. (2017) stated that the alterative
actions that could have been taken include group discussions and acting as a democratic
leader to involve the module team members. This could have allowed them to share their
individual views and opinions, furthermore ensure making a right decision in the end. Other
options that could have been included here are managing radical change, creative change,
intermediating change and ensuring progressive change for the successful business
functioning (Noe et al. 2017). For a similar occasion, sometimes, there is need to act
differently and this can benefit me as well as the business to facilitate learning experience and
knowledge acqusitions too. Creating change is not only essential for the international
business management, but also the purpose of acting different in a similar kind of situation
effectively. This will allow me to develop assets and at the same time, keep close look on
both the human and financial resources for working on a project collaboratively (Rothaermel
2013). I could have improved my performance by interacting with the team members, which
improves communication and interpersonal skills and even listening to their ideas, views and
opinions regarding the various aspects of international business management.
The reasons for achieving improved performance are to make sure that the strategic
issues are identified and mitigated timely, to manage global business expansion along with

betterment of business operations and processes. According to Savery (2015), strategic issues
are critical and thus assessment of those can improve my knowledge and capabilities of
improving a business performance and sustain in the competitive business environment. The
performance or actions are different for me from other occasions because previously, I used
to follow the authoritarian leadership, where I provided my own views and opinions while at
present, I focused on the democratic leadership style to make them feel valued to the
organisation, thereby, made them engaged to accomplish the tasks in coordination, as an unit.
Yes, as part of the team and being a module leader, I respect each other’s views and opinions
(Savery 2015). I used the feedbacks from them to make sure that the strategies issues and
none of the problems get missed anyhow. Acquiring feedbacks and views from other people
also helped me to make decisions, which improved my skills and knowledge to assist in
improved decision making and global business management assistance too.
The task was focused on the international business management and thus it helped me
to acquire relevant knowledge and information about the global business management,
strategic issues related to it and enable the business to create sustainable competitive edge
over its competitors. I want to improve one area, especially, the coordination of work among
individuals and make them knowledgeable about their strengths, resources and competencies,
furthermore create scopes for the businesses aiming to manage global business to capture
value as profit (Chai, Koh and Tsai 2013). I need to stay professional and address the
concerns of clients to the people with whom I have been working, which should allow for
validating the perceptions and feelings, furthermore ensure overcoming resistance and
prioritize on meeting the needs of clients at first. My individual skills and capabilities have
improved, not only from the perspective of working as a team, but also allowed me to
development my knowledge on the different aspects related to the international business
management. I have also learned various things from the experience based on the

effectiveness of Information Communication Technology as well as identifying the needs for
change (Wang, Wang and Liang 2014). I have also assessed different business models and
allowed the module team memebrs to take part in the training and developmental sessions for
making them learn about those, furthermore aim at representing successful global business
management along with benefiting business through improved revenue generation and
attaining competitive advantage too.
