This report, submitted as part of the MPE707 International Banking and Finance course at Deakin University, analyzes a student's experience with a demo trading platform. Executive summary
Stock market is the place in a country where there are various companies are listed so as to raise
the money for their operations. It is considered that through this stock market the investor makes
the investment in the company. investment strategies are considered as one of the elements
through which the decision is taken for the purpose of making investment and the strategies are
formed so that highest profit can be achieved for the purpose. for the purpose of making the
decision the companies’ financial decisions and the management strategies are taken into
consideration so that the investment can be made in the best possible manner. The top down,
bottom up, fundamental analysis, market analysis and market efficiency are considered as
some of the approach that helps in getting the correct investment decision. Here the profit was
realised through the sale of the instrument that purchased at that time. The loss that has occurred
while transacting was due to the negative impact of the global market economy and the trade war
that is going on within the different country. While initially for the purpose of investment during
the month there were various deals made which includes around 6 instruments in which the
investment was made from my account this can be seen that the total remaining balance for the
current month and the end of report is 21,424AUD.

Main body
The term stock market is considered as the place where the buyer and seller of the stock of the
company comes together so that they are able to maximize the profit for this purpose. It is
considered to be the public market where the primary and secondary instrument for the sale and
purchase purpose are traded. It is considered as the public market where the investment in
different shares, bonds and debentures of the company are done. here the trading of the
commodities and the foreign exchange is also done so that the overall objective of making the
best investment can be done for this purpose (Aldasoro, et. al., 2018). This is considered that the
stock market is considered to be most volatile market where the prices of the shares fluctuates at
the higher rate. Hence for the purpose of making the investment into the share market this is
important that investors should make the strategies and should use the different market strategies
that are propounded as the famous investment strategies. Hence this report contains the different
types of investment decision that are taken for this purpose so that market can be analysed and
profit from the investment can be made.
For the investment in the stock market this is considered that high amount of the research is
required to be made so that investment decision that are taken for the purpose are considered to
be great. There are various ways of investment in the stock market which includes the value
investment, growth investment and lastly the index investment (Al-Malkawi, et. al., 2018). It is
considered that the investment must be made with the intention of looking for the long-term
perspective. This is seen that while investing in various companies and the indexes of various
countries this is important to research the economic parameter of that company and the country.
For making the investment in the foreign currencies different research are done on the economy
of the country and with the help of this they are able to maximise the value of their investment
that are made by them.
The professor provides us the trading platform where they allowed us to invest in the stock
market through the online mode. Here an online website has been provided to us where we are
given the demo account for trading in the currency market of the world. The professor gave us
50,000 AUD through which we are able to invest in the market and the commodity of our choice
so as to make the profit and enhance our skills in the trading platform. Here the first investment
was done on the July 26th and the foreign currency index was chosen for this purpose. Hence
after this the investment were done in numerous currencies of the world. For doing the

investment the stop loss condition was triggered so that in the case of losing value the loss can be
minimized. For the purpose of making the investment the intraday trading platform were also
considered and the orders for the limit were also set (Avdjiev, et. al., 2018).
Throughout the trading platform the fundamental analysis of the stock market was done which
helped me in getting the information that is related to the stock market and the foreign currencies
in which the investment was to be made for this purpose. Here the market research is done so
that future prediction of the company can be made and the investment in the stock that has high
beta can be made as it is certain that where there is high beta in the stock it may give high return
for the same. So, for the purpose of making the investment the size of the country economy and
the market sentiments of the country were made as this helped in achieving the objective of
maximizing the production for the same. While making the investment the graph of the shares
and currency was taken into consideration as this is considered to be important and the currency
that was showing the most fixed return was chosen for the purpose of making the investment
(Brei, and Von Peter, 2018). Hence there were many option that were considered for this purpose
which includes that if the there is uptrend in the graph then it would be considered for the buy
purpose, and if there is decline in the trend then the sell option would be considered that helps in
making the profits for the same.
After which various news articles and the strategies for the purpose of making the investment in
the company were made. this lead to increase in the value of investment and helped in
maximising the performance of the portfolio due to which I was able to again touch the value of
21,000 AUD.
This was seen that while in the initial stage the investment that were made were giving negative
results and due to which the huge amount of money was lost for this purpose of making the
investment. it was also seen that while doing the investment I made wring decision of investing
and selling the stocks at the regular interval while the price was going down. The strategies that I
chose for the purpose investment at that time does not included the news source due to which the
investment that were made by me were not able to get the desired returns as expected by the me.
This is seen that for this purpose the company is able to maximise the production and is able to
achieve the objective of maximising the value of the investment that were made. The loss on
portfolio and the value of investment gone below the 3,000AUD at a time.

The investment was made in the US dollar and the Hong Kong dollar where this was seen that as
the market of Hing Kong was growing and hence it can be considered that the investment in the
currency would be best for this purpose. The investment that were made in the index of the world
helped us in getting the insight of the market of the global world and due to which we are able to
maximise the potential of the portfolio that is made for this purpose of investment. Here various
stop loss target was defined which helped in getting the investment at the right place and through
this the profit were considered to be made (Brown Jr, 2018). For the purpose of analysing the
market situation various tools that are given in the theoretical sense were used so that best result
can be obtained. Some of the tools that were used for this purpose includes,
 The top down bottom up approach, here this tool was used so as to identify the medium
of the investment that are made and the this helped in getting the knowledge of the peak
and the lows of the price of the currency that are hit in the particular 52 weeks. Here this
is used for investment in the different currencies as through this the day high that are hit
by the currency are checked so that the investment is not made at that price.
 Fundamental analysis and technical analysis, through this the current state of the stock
were made as this helped in getting the information through the technical chart of the
stock. The market trend that the currency follows and the effect of the world Economy
was considered for this purpose of the study. As this is seen that there is trade war going
on between US and China market which is affecting the currencies of the global world.
Hence for the investment in this it was seen that the countries that are not affected
through this war were used for the purpose of investment as they would be less volatile
and would give the best result for the same.
 Also, the market efficiency and the random walk theory was considered for this purpose
of the study, through this the market analysis were done for the certain period through
which this was seen that whether the market would sustain at the current rate or is volatile
where the price would come down at the certain level. The theory specified that if the
market absorption and the information that is available is not perfected for the particular
period then the price would move towards the intrinsic value of the share and the cost of
the share of investment would not be able to be recovered (Cassis and Wójcik, 2018).
 News articles and the current market sentiments, for the purpose of making investment
the news articles and the decision that are taken by the company’s board are considered

for this purpose. As the news is one of the main sources that helps the share price to raise
at the drastic rate or to come down to the lowest. Hence for the purpose of making the
investment this was seen that there is trade war that is going on between the two largest
trading countries in the world and due to this the global economy is being hampered.
Hence for the purpose of making the investment the idea was generated to invest in the
currency that are not affected by this trade war (Lane, 2018). So, the investment was
made in the EUR/NZD which gave a good return for the same and GBP/AUD which was
moving upward and was making the upward trend through which the good amount of
profit can be made.
 The feature of stop loss that is given by the stock market and the market participants
helped in making the condition through which the investment can be saved from getting
into the negative figures. Here in the various investment that were made the use of the
stop loss option was made so that at the time when the price of the currency falls to the
particular mark the currency gets sold automatically and the loss can be minimized for
this purpose (Lucey, et. al., 2018).
Hence for the purpose of making the investment various tools were considered and this helped in
getting the information that is related to the country’s economy and the currency that are used for
this purpose (Bussière, et. al., 2018). As the investment were made in various currencies of the
world hence for this the news that are related to the economy of the country plays a vital role.
Also, the political scenario of the country and the announcements that are made by the
government of that country are considered for the purpose of making the investment. as the
economy of the country are dependent on the policies that are made by the government of the
country and hence for this purpose the news that are related to the political and economic
decisions of the government were taken into account.

Conclusion
Through the platform that was provided by our professor we were able to make the decision of
making the investment in the different stocks. The most of the investment that were made in the
different currencies of the world. while analysing the situation there were various theoretical
tools that were used for this purpose and this helped in making the investment more fruitful. The
stop loss option was used for every investment that were made so that the loss that may occur
due to the fall in price of the currency can be reduced and then the fresh investment can be made
for this purpose.
