1. Country: France
a. The country I selected is France. As the country is the most happening place and is
known for its elegance and style in all aspects of life. The most Important part of the
French social life is drinking and eating. It is believed in the country that these two
activities, encourage congenial relations among people. Moreover, the French culture
has an impact of the great Roman culture, Romans who are widely known for their
mannerism and inspiring etiquettes.
b. The city which I selected is Paris as it is one of the most important cities that occupy
the top place in a traveler’s itinerary. It is the most happening place of the country
which is known for its great taste in style and elegance. The country attracts the high-
class travelers due to its great dining etiquettes.

The epicure and culture is a leading website that deals with the content related to
cultures of different countries. The website has published various leading articles to promote the
understanding among the readers regarding different culture styles of the world. It is solely based
on the motive of providing the information of utility regarding the cultural tradition of various
countries especially to travelers.
3. Dining etiquettes in Paris
a. Conversation and Behavior–
The conversation style is usually formal on the dinner table in Paris. People on the table
are required to be elegant in their dress up and style. They must be very warm and
composed in their conversation. It is expected from the people at the dinner party in Paris
to never come empty-handed. They are expected to bring some gifts that may include
flowers, chocolate box or a beautiful plant. The guest should try coming after 10 to 15

minutes after the designated time as it gives time to host to perfectly complete the dinner
preparation.
b. Cutlery-
The cutlery used in France have a modern touch. They are usually of silverware. The
right kind of eating mannerism is highly valued in Paris. The guests are expected to hold
knife and fork very politely. The guest must use the knife with their right hand while
forks are placed at left hand. Once the guest is done away with the eating, it is required
the forks and knifes are not placed in a crossing position.

c. Dishware -

The dishware used in Paris for the purpose of serving to the diners are of exquisite
style. The styles are very impressive to the high-class travelers. They materials used
in the preparation of the dishware are of high quality.
d. Setting-
The setting where the diners are served, are beautifully designed in the exquisite
style. All the dishes required for serving the dishes to the guest are properly
presented. Their presentation is quite alluring to the eyes. In a dinner party hosted in
Paris, television is usually not presented as it is believed that such items disturb the
bond between the people who are eating together.
Service-
The guests are given the priority for a serve. It is required from the guest out of an
etiquette to ask from the host, regarding the dinner. The elders are given the first
preference. There is good sense of understanding between the guest during the dinner.
The sharing of the dishware between people is considered a bad etiquette among the

guest. It is required that an individual takes a food on its plate as required, leftover
food on the platter is not welcoming act in the party.
4. Dinning etiquettes, I learned-
Rule 1: No elements of distraction -
The elements of distraction during the dinner such as music system, loud-speakers and
televisions are completely prohibited.
Rule2: Eating together-
Another important etiquette that I learned is of eating together, As eating together
promotes great bonds among the guest in the social setting.
Rule3: Completing everything, provided on the platter
The most important etiquette at a dinner table is to complete everything provided on the
platter. Any leftover food on the platter is considered a bad manner.
5. Dinning mannerism I would like to incorporate in my fantasy dinner party are:
Element 1: Any item of distraction such as television, music system and mobile phones
should be completely avoided in the dining area.
Element 2: The second important element that I would like to incorporate is developing
an environment where guest eats together and cheers the drinks together. As I feel the
custom of eating together would develop good relations among the guest thus bringing in
more warmth to the party.

Element 3: The third element I would like to incorporate is the usage of the exquisite
style of cutlery. As these exquisite styles of cutleries leave an impressive impact on the
guest in the party.
