Analyzing and Updating International Plastics Network Diagrams Project

This project focuses on analyzing and updating the network diagrams for International Plastics Inc., as outlined in the CMGT/554 assignment brief. The student was tasked with reviewing existing diagrams for four locations, including corporate headquarters, and making recommendations for IT infrastructure improvements using Microsoft Visio or Word. The project involves incorporating firewalls at all sites, converting LANs to WANs, integrating Amazon AWS suggestions, and streamlining networks for consistent security protocols. The student's solution includes recommendations for fiber optics and VLANs, along with a summary of network risks such as computer viruses and the implementation of antivirus programs and firewalls. The assignment covers improvements to the network diagrams, decisions made, risk summaries, and mitigation recommendations, along with a table detailing improvements to the current telecommunications standards for each location. The objective is to improve data sharing, communication, performance, and security across the company by leveraging cloud servers and consistent firewall policies.

Considerations
The fibre optics has been added in the network of the company that would help in
providing higher bandwidth and also transmit data over significantly longer distances. The
company could provide the employees of the organisation with improved internet services
that could be used for completing their tasks quickly. VLAN has been added in the network
of the organisation that would allow the various computer as well as the devices in being
virtually connected among one another like being in the single LAN sharing single broadcast
domain. The VLAN would be helpful for the organisation because it could be used for
segmenting the large network into various smaller segments (Cao et al., 2020). VLAN could
be used in the organisation for various groups of users, functions and the departments without
requiring to be within similar geographical sector.
Summary of risks in network and recommendations
The firewalls have been implemented in the network of the organisation that would
help in securing the network extensively. Various routers have been added in the network of
the organisation after the switches that would transfer the internet to all the workstations of
the company. Some of the major risks in the network of the organisation are:
Computer virus: The computer viruses are considered as the pieces of the software
whose designing has been done for spreading from any one computer to another computer.
Proper antivirus programs helps in ensuring that the network is not affected by the computer
virus (Yang, Yang & Wu, 2017).
