Running Head: Project Management
Project management in today's world of proffesionalism
When discussing the definition of the project, we see that projects are the smallest building
block to be constructed by any research in order, to begin with, work ok business. A group of
the project or a collection of related project is called a program. However, consisting of
multiple projects does not lead to the formation of the program until and unless all the
projects are so managed that they all together work for the achievement of a single goal
(Geraldi & Söderlund, 2018). In response to an understanding of portfolio, it can be basically
evaluated as an organisational strategy of thinking that is put forward to make sure that the
strategic goals of a particular company are achieved within stipulated time period.
Role of projects, programs, and portfolios within most organizational
settings, and what is the linkage between these and an organization's
strategic plan
When discussing the importance as well as the distinguishing factor between project,
portfolio and program there need to be a proper revaluation of resources related to budget and
activities to make those process successful. There cannot be proper distinguishing factors
between the three parts as all of them are unique and interdependent to each other.
In today's world of professionalism, activities need to be recorded and a proper project
management Framework help in recording every activity with their effectiveness included.
This also suffices the organisation of strategic plan and direction opportunity making a link
between the requirement of customer and objective of the organisation (Konstantinou, 2015).
Project management in International context
In the context of discussing the importance of project management in international standard
the primary and the foremost benefit that it provides is the alignment of strategic planning
(Pollack, Biesenthal, Sankaran & Clegg, 2018). It ensures that every objective is delivered to

the customer with their proper value which enhances the business opportunity. In the context
of the world view, the importance of project management is also a thorough and proper
calculation of return on investment by an organisation.
Really focusing on the objective and developing leadership is also covered by proper
utilisation of project management within an organisation (Ramazani & Jergeas, 2015). With
proper project management, a person with good leadership quality can enhance their skills in
managing the workforce of an organisation. With proper receiving of quality knowledge,
there also grows chances of having increased focus over the objective of an organisation.
Quality control and realistic project planning are also covered by the benefits offered by
Project Management around the world in every organisation. Importance of having a realistic
project planning is always acceptable by any organisation around the world and that is
fulfilled by Project Management and its efficiency. A clear understanding of quality control is
also developed and evaluated by Project Management which helps in giving a better and
consistent quality of product to the customer for their satisfaction (Aga, Noorderhaven &
Vallejo, 2016).
Relation of organisational structure with project management
Both Project Management and Organisation are interdependent with each other. Aspects like
culture and style within an organisation have direct impact over project management due to
the changes in risk tolerance, regulation, code of conduct, motivation and reward system
along with leadership style changes and operating environment. Structure of the organisation
also has its impact on project management as because they are to be selected and operated as
per the functional manager within an organisation (Cicmil, Lindgren & Packendorff, 2016).
Communication within an organisation is a factor under vertical structure of organidation. A
single miscommunication couple lead to wrong understanding of required element. Structure
of any company is an important factor to determine whether project management will be

successful or not. Impact of project management to a great extent is related to the whole
effectiveness assistance in decision making.
Reflection and conclusion
To be in the position of project manager within my organisation it is important to ensure that
every rules and regulation along with the framework of project management are followed. As
per the project life cycle which begins in initiation and end at closure (Stark, 2015). I will
under my expertise and I clearly know the importance of the steps to be followed in order to
have successful project work. I have enabled myself to understand the reasonable project to
be chosen and the management Framework that is to be followed including the deliverable,
industrial technology and stable planning process. I know that organisational structure also
has its impact over the framework and therefore I ensure that PRINCE2 is incorporated to
have an effective and efficient plan of project work.
After evaluating information related to project management it is clear that with proper
framework implementation project management institutes body of knowledge related to
development in International standard of work. Every minimum step that is included in the
framework of project management has used importance in the fulfilment of organisational
objective through successful closure of project work (Bonekamp & Sure, 2015).
