students. A case study on Excelsia College.
Abstract
The current study is based on analysis of learning experience of international students
which is having an objective of determining better strategies to ensure enhanced learning
experience for international students. Implication of qualitative form of data collection is adopted
for current investigation as it facilitates a more detailed and in-depth information about the
selected topic. Further, use of a semi structured interview would be made to collect information
from selected 4 participants out of the students and teachers of Excelsia College with the help of
random sampling. Use of thematic method of data analysis would be made to evaluate and
analysis the key findings based on developing student satisfaction strategy for better learning
experience of international students.
Introduction
Excelsia College is a well known tertiary education provider that is formerly known as
Wesley Institute located at Sydney, Australia which is offering undergraduate and postgraduate
degrees in the stream of counselling, arts (drama and music), teacher education and business.
Excelsia College is considered as one of the most fastest-growing faith-based Colleges in
Australia the growth of which is mostly relies on the international students (Kilubi, 2018). Thus,
current study is lead out in the Excelsia College to determine and evaluate about the learning
experience of international students along with getting deep insight into the role of developing
student satisfaction strategy on the learning experience of international students.
Problem statement
The problem statement for current study is related with the analysis of learning experience
of international students who belongs to different culture and background as it is difficult and
complex for Excelsia College to develop suitable student satisfaction strategy to ensures better
learning experience for international students to have an enhancement in its success and growth.

Research Aim
The main of current assessment is, “To evaluate about the learning experience of
international students along with determining strategies to provide enhanced learning experience
for international students”. A research project on Excelsia College.
Objectives
The research objectives set out for current qualitative investigation on Excelsia College
are listed as below:
 To seek better understanding about the learning experience of international students.
 To determine the role of developing student satisfaction strategy on the learning
experience of international students within Excelsia College.
 To identify some better strategies that could be recommended for Excelsia College to
provide enhanced learning experience for its international students.

 What understanding you are having about the learning experience of international
students?
 What role is lead by developing student satisfaction strategy on the learning experience
of international students within Excelsia College?
 What are the possible set of strategies that could be recommended for Excelsia College to
provide enhanced learning experience for its international students?
Literature Review
It provide a base for leading out a research work and study through leading information
about selected topic and its objective with the help of secondary form of data collected from the
past article, journals and other form of literature.
To seek better understanding about the learning experience of international students
As per the view point of Ravichandran Ammigan (PhD) & Debra Langton, (2018), it has
been analysed that the Australia is considered very successful in recruiting and admitting
international students thus, may measures and strategies are lead out by both educational
institution and government to provide high level of satisfaction to students. Further, it has been
find out that the learning experience of international students in Australia is quite diverse based
on the cultural and background of the students and to enhance their satisfaction and learning

experience equal opportunities are provided to all students to interact with the help of peers to set
a sense of equality and fairness in all students trough ensuring effective communication on the
basis of their different cultural, social and linguistic backgrounds. Beside this, an evaluation has
been made that the learning experience of international students in educational institute of
Australia is quite good and satisfied as effective quality of lectures is provided to international
students along with proper organisation of courses and academic conduct, Further proper
studying and expertise of lectures is also ensured across studying under different culture to
enhance and improve the learning experience of international students (Jackson, 2017).
To determine the role of developing student satisfaction strategy on the learning experience of
international students within Excelsia College.
With respect to the information provided by the Karen Glen, 2017, a number of factors are
there that lead a crucial impact on learning experience of international students which comprises
of educational experience, services and facilities. Further, it has been find out that in current
environment where a high level of competition is prevailed in every sector out very crucial and
critical that the higher education institution and other associated parties provided more emphasis
on preference, perception and experience of international students in which a high level of
support and vital role is lead by development of student satisfaction strategy. It has been
analysed that the higher student satisfaction is helpful in attracting and retaining high achievers
and larger number of students from international and global areas that in turn increase the
reputation and standing position of the university. This higher satisfaction in students could only
achieved through leading and developing student satisfaction strategy to enhance the learning
experience of international students (Guo & Guo, 2017). Thus, an evaluation can be drawn that
developing student satisfaction strategy to provide a better learning environment with the help of
upgraded campus libraries, community spaces, classrooms, and other amenities along with a
friendly and sticky campus plays a vital role in enhancing and improving the learning experience
of international students within Excelsia College through meeting their all needs and educational
expectation in a more viable and efficient way.
To identify some better strategies that could be recommended for Excelsia College to provide
enhanced learning experience for its international students
As per the opinion of Flavin, M., & Quintero, V. (2020), there are many strategies and
ways that can be adopted by an organisation to provide enhanced learning experience for its

international students which comprises if developing a more friendly and sticky campus to
provide better learning atmosphere to international students. Further, focusing more on
collaborative learning and providing fair and equal opportunity of learning to all students by the
way of leading effective communication and proper connection among authorities and
international students is a viable way to enhance their learning experience (How to Increase
Student Satisfaction, 2020). Apart from this up-gradation of campus libraries, community spaces,
classrooms, and other learning amenities along with use of immersive technology are also vital
ways that can be adopted by the Excelsia College to provide enhanced learning experience for its
international students. Beside this, providing and ensuring proper career counselling/support,
work experience along with a cross cultural communication and friendly learning environment,
advance library and laboratory facilities are effective and viable strategies to enhance the
learning experience for international students of Excelsia College (Wu, Wu & Li, 2019). Apart
from this, leading proper feedback facilitates and proper channels of communication on basis of
their different cultural, social and linguistic backgrounds is also an effective way to ensure better
analysis and evaluation of needs and expectation of all international students in order to enhance
the learning experience of international students.
Research Methods
Opting of suitable and most appropriate research method is vital and essential for success
of any project and meeting its objectives in an efficient and viable manner. Thus, implication of
research onion is made for current investigation on Excelsia College a discussion of which is
provided below that is presenting proper justification for selection of research method.

Research philosophy- There are four common form of research philosophies that are
presented by the first layer of research onion comprises of Posistivitism, interpretivism, realism
and pragmatism philosophy. The nature of current study is based on theoretical form of
information thus, selection of interpretivism philosophy is made that provides support to in-depth
and theoretical form of study to accomplish set objectives in a better manner (Sheehan, 2018).
Research approach- It being the second layer of research onion that is divided into two
main forms i.e. deductive and inductive. With respect to nature of current study on Excelsia
College utilisation of inductive is more suitable and justifiable as it provided better testing and
analysis of theoretical information along with facilitating development of new and better theories
to accomplish and meet set objectives.
Research strategy- It represent the complete design and structure of a research work that
is bifurcated in a number of research techniques comprises of action research, experimental
research, interview, survey, observation, etc. For current study, use of semi structured interview
is made a research strategy to ensures better collection of information in form of theoretical data
to have better understanding about the set objectives and problem statement.
Choices of method- There are two common form and type of method of research which
consists of qualitative and quantitative research method out of which implication and use of
qualitative method of research is made for current investigation (Niemann, Schwaiger, & Heß,
2018). The justification for making use of qualitative form of research method is that it support
and lead to collection of data in theoretical firm thus provides better understanding about the

behaviour and attitude of respondents to reach a better conclusion and ensures effective decision
making to resolve stated problem statement.
Time horizons- Cross sectional and longitudinal are the two forms of time horizons
utilised to effectively accomplish a research work. The implication of longitudinal horizons are
associated with long term duration thus, utilisation of cross sectional time horizons is made for
current investigation on Excelsia College as it lead to completion of research task within a
specific time duration in more efficient and effective way.
Data collection and analysis- There are two common form of sources from where data
can be collected which comprises of primary and secondary form of data collection. Use of both
primary and secondary sources of data is made for current in investigation as primary data
provided authentic information directly from participants while secondary facilitates support and
base for research work with the help of past facts and records (Jackson, 2017).
Collection of primary data would be made with the help if semi structure interview which
is appropriate and justifiable as it lead to collection of more in - depth and theoretical
information from selected participants with the help of two way conversation. Thus, Allows for
open-ended communication and responses from participants to have more in-depth information
and study. This semi structure would be conducted through making use of computer-mediated
communication (CMC) like instant messaging, email, and video conferencing.
Sampling method- This process is associated with selection of participants for research
work form a larger number of population (Kilubi, 2018). With respect to current investigation, a
sample size if 4 participants is selected from the staff and students of Excelsia College with the
help of random sampling method.

Analysis and findings of qualitative study
For effective analysis of research findings collected from selected 4 participants from the
staff and students of Excelsia College use of thematic approach is made a discussion of which is
provided below:
Theme 1:Perceptive regarding the learning experience of international students within Excelsia
College
Interpretation
The maximum number of participants during current study were having a perception the
international students were having a satisfied level of learning experience within in Excelsia
College as proper care and emphasis is given by teachers, staff and other associated parties to
provide a friendly and collaborative learning experience to all students where cultural diversity
and different backgrounds of students are equally respected to lead a fair and positive learning
experience.
Theme 2: Implication about the role of developing student satisfaction strategy on the learning
experience of international students within Excelsia College
Interpretation
Major section of participants were having an implication and view point that a vital role is played
by developing student satisfaction strategy on the learning experience of international students
within Excelsia College as providing an amiable and upgraded campus and other learning
amenities along with a fair and positive learning atmosphere would lead and ensure a positive
impact on the learning experience of international students within Excelsia College.
Theme 3: Main challenges and issues that hampers the learning experience of international
students within Excelsia College
Interpretation
Maximum number of participants were having a feeling that the main challenges and issues that

hampers the learning experience of international students within Excelsia College comprises of
language and culture difficulties that makes it difficult to get adjust with overall academic culture
and many complication and issues in communication with teachers, staff, faculty and peers is
also faced.
Theme 4: The main dimension and factor that lead significant impact on the learning
experience of international students
Interpretation
With respect to the view point of maximum number of participants it has been interpreted that
the arrival, support, learning and living are the four main dimension and factors that lead
significant impact on the learning of international students. It has been also analysed that the
arrival facilities lead to first experience on students when they reach campus where as support
services comprises of all essential facilities like health and safety where as learning facilities
consists of academic environment and living dimension comprises of day to day accommodation
and routine life of students.
Theme 5: possible set of strategies that could be recommended for Excelsia College to provide
enhanced learning experience for its international students
Interpretation
It has been find out from current investigation that maximum number of respondents were
having a thinking that providing upgraded facilities along with collaborative learning for
diversified students is a viable strategies that could be recommended for Excelsia College to
provide enhanced learning experience for its international students. Apart from this leading
effective communication and taking regular feedback is also viable way to provide a more
friendly and positive educational environment to international students in order to support better
learning experience.
Recommendations on the basis of findings
On the basis of current study it has been recommended and find out that leading proper
feedback facilitates and ensuring proper channels of communication on basis of different
cultural, social and linguistic backgrounds students is also an effective way for Excelsia College

to address and overcome the issue of providing enhanced learning experience for its international
students. Apart from this, adopting use of more efficient and viable technology and online
education facilities along with upgrading of college campus, library, labs and other learning
amenities are also a viable way to attract and cater larger number of international students by the
way of leading improvement in their learning experience.
