INTRODUCTION
Tourism is explained as one of the most crucial industry which provides different types of
benefit and services to the one who has to travel from one place to another for any of the specific
purpose. It is necessary to understand that tourism industry is among one of the fastest growing
industry in present scenario which can contribute for accomplishing the goals in best possible
manner. In context of the file, the chosen industry is Holiday Inn which a British brand
multinational company where they provide their services to different part of the world.
In context of the file, several topics are to be discussed which can guide that how any of
the how this industry has evolved in past few years. There will be major focus on main features
of sustainable and responsible tourism. Proper evaluation will be done that what is the
importance of tourism development planning for sustainability.

P1 Explain how the concept of sustainable and responsible tourism has evolved
In present scenario, it is necessary to understand that tourism industry has helped many of
the nation to improve their economic situation. The history of tourism is very old where people
always like to experience something new whether it is nature, culture, society or many more. The
main thing which is necessary to be determined within this particular situation is that any of
those decision must not be taken which can harm the nature (De Lange and Dodds, 2017). If is
not done then in that respective situation, tourism will not get affected and even it will allow the
people to visit from one place to another in safest way.
This role requires frequent tourists, since visitors are possible to apply this concept to
them. The main objective is on visitors being of excellent quality, instead of their volume or
figures. The above idea was adopted during a meeting held in Cape Town in the year 2002. That
included representatives from over twenty nations. The decision has been taken by the member
who are there in the conference on minimizing resource wastage while traveling, including local
people to support visitors, increasing financial benefits or improving well-being of both local and
visitors. All of these is intended to improve the profits of tourism sector. This also intended to
please all stakeholders in tourism industry who are visitors or flyers. This definition is socially

aware and also fosters respect between hosts and visitors, and also develops strength for the
industry.
There were number of other decision had been taken which had allowed to improve the overall
scenario of the industry in which it was majorly focused that in any of the situation utilisation of
resources should be maintained (Higgins-Desbiolles, 2018). On a yearly basis, it has been found
that interest of tourism industry has been increasing day by day which is allowing to grow the
industry in positive direction. It has directly allowed to enhance the percentage of profit for any
of the person.

sustainable and responsible tourism
It is necessary to develop the tourism sector for the purpose of enhancing the percentage
of profit. Looking at the current scenario of tourism industry, it has been found that there are
number of organisation who has been involved within the development of sustainable
development. The main focus of different organisation is to develop the percentage of profit on a
regular basis. Below, there is the discussion about the leading organisation who has been
involved for the purpose of promotion of sustainable responsible tourism.
The centre for responsible tourism
CREAT is one of the leading organisation who has been involved within the business of
tourism. It was incorporated in the year 2003 where its headquarter is in Washington DC. This is
among the industry who has been working for managing all of the tourism sector in different of
part of the world including UK and Asia. The major target which is carried by this particular
industry is to maintain the environment in that particular manner where people will not have to
face any of the problem while travelling from one place to another.
Role: It is one of the institute where their main target is to promote different destination
for tourism sector (Postma, Cavagnaro and Spruyt, 2017). Also, it focuses on the use of
resources in ethical manner so that local people has to not suffer in future period of time.

Mission: The major mission is to develop cultural biodiversity and allow the people to

In present scenario, tourism industry has been helping in increasing the overall economy
of a country where they main contribute towards toward the GDP. Here, this industry is able to
increase the percentage of job opportunity which has improved the living standard of a public.
There are number of nation in the world which is capable of sustaining just because of tourism
industry which they have developed. In addition, it also allows to develop healthy relation among
the people or nation through which people get the opportunity to learn something new on a
regular basis (Poudel, Nyaupane and Budruk, 2016).
Principle for sustainable tourism development
Some of the principle has been mentioned below which is allowing to sustain the tourist
industry and those principles are:

of this simply states that adopting the principle can allow to obtain positive result in future period
