Introduction:
The overall credibility of enterprises or organization in the current economy is highly driven by
the quality of services provided by them. Further, the task is even tougher for health and social
care organizations that are liable behind the medical conditions of the patients and needful users.
The following study would demonstrate the critical condition of health and social care
organizations in terms of meeting customer demands and requirements and fulfilling the
respective objectives of the enterprise. Moreover, like any other department, placement of the
professionals is also sensitive and has huge impact towards the overall performance of the
enterprise in society and economy as a whole. Thus, the following study would undertake a
situational analysis of International youth centre and highlight my experience regarding
placement activities and other organization standards.
Assessment of situational analysis:
Since social services requires care workers and other professionals to be extremely humble and
caring while performing the activities, it is necessary for the HR department of the company to
assess the overall behavior of respective professionals and perform placement accordingly
(Balfour, A. and Lammers, C. 2017). Elaborating about my case, I have a habit of reviewing my
own performance and approach of organization to calculate the overall credibility and check the
quality of the services provided by respective parties. Further, in order to reconstruct the
parameters of social disclosure, each and every care worker should reflect their respective
performance from time to time and cope up with the obligations and objectives of the enterprise.
Moreover, implication of productive theories is also necessary to perform the reflection activities
in an appropriate manner and to productively highlight the overall working climate of health and
social care organization. Linking the same, for the current reflection Schon’s theory of reflection
has been considered which is comprises of two parts such as reflection on action and reflection in
action (Balfour, A. and Lammers, C. 2017). While reflection on actions states about the previous
experience, reflection in action highlight the current practices or activities. Thus, after getting
placement in International youth centre, following outcomes were derived after implementing the
parameters of situational analysis.

Setting of practice:
I was suppose to provide mental support to people suffering from mental disease as my
placement were related to evaluate the overall mental condition of people or needful users.
Further, I was also supposed to comply with all the formalities and regulations stated under
mental health act 2007 so as to secure the legal boundaries of the enterprise and pay good
amount of attention towards patients or needful users. Since the varieties of mental disease were
quite high, we were supposed to be reflective in all our actions and contribute towards enhancing
the condition of the patients in an appropriate manner (BROOK, P. 2012). Elaborating more
about the same, International youth centre have a practice of considering the performance of the
care workers over and above the reflection which is quite depressing and common in this field.
In order to fulfill my obligations and perform all the responsibilities in an appropriate manner,
some HR professionals assist me towards the performance of duties so as to reduce the number
of mistakes or errors to minimum. Moreover, I was also been introduced to the rules and
regulations of Practice Competency Framework (PCF) which comprises of overall
responsibilities of social worker and which direction to follow while fulfilling the respective
objectives or goals. The framework also comprises of ethical standards which each and every
care worker and other staff need to follow in order to satisfy the customers on personal level and
maintain the professionalism of the entire health and social care (BROOK, P. 2012).
Analysis:
While performing the medical or mental treatment procedures, I came across many patients or
people suffering from multiple diagnoses which further create sound problems for me to
incorporate properly and perform my duties with 100% honesty or objectivity. Moreover, after
assisting many patients or people with respective treatment activities, I intensely involved with
one of the patients known as William Hussey. This patient was born in United Kingdom itself,
and major part of my placement or obligation was to enhance the mental condition or overall
health of WH through necessary or productive techniques (Connell, J. 2011). The patient was
having multiple mental diagnoses and has been treated in other hospitals or health and social care
organizations before but condition did not improved. I was suppose to take care of WH and use

continue with the medical treatments properly.
We often go for a walk or hang around so as to understand the mind set of WH and make him
comfortable in my company. Even though I know about all the mental and health problems WH
is suffering from, the enterprise did not allow me to check the personal details of the patient in
terms of confidentiality which put some stress on me while I was working to help the patient
throughout the day (Connell, J. 2011). Further, I have to give more than 100% to my job in a
stretch of 5 to 6 hours which was affecting me health conditions badly day after day. While
interacting with WH, I encounter his dissatisfaction with previous health and social care
organizations as profit maximization was their primary motive which keeps haunting the mental
condition and stability of WH throughout the treatment. Further, the patient also applauded my
technique of treatment and states his satisfaction with delightful integrity.
The curiosity of WH to meet me every time enhances my motivation level and creativity while
performing the treatment activities in best possible manner. While communicating with WH, I
also found the poor impact of the economy towards the minds of patients or people as they are
very shy in bringing up their problems in front of everyone as society is not really concerned
about the same and does not pay attention to it. Further, as mentioned above, involvement of
theory based practices or approaches are necessary to understand the actual obligation of social
workers and perform according to the necessity (Cook, M. 2012). Linking the same, in the
current case I implemented six concerned addictions rescue system (SCARS) so as to perform all
the activities or operations with utmost priority and responsibility and enhance the overall
condition of the patient rapidly.
Further, I literally believed that my performance was not up to the mark and could have been
improved through the collaboration of patience and proper skills. Further, I also failed to apply
my views towards social cause and was too much concerned about the values of the enterprise
without assessing whether the same is correct or not. The enterprise also lacks in the department
of gaining more and more information such as from internal or external sources which further
reduce the overall credibility and efficiency of the entire quality of service (Cook, M. 2012).

continue with the medical treatments properly.

perform the responsibility with more seriousness and efficiency and fulfill the respective
obligation in an appropriate manner.
The internal environment of the enterprise is highly affected due to poor practices and business
approaches of International youth centre which further restrict the overall effectiveness and
efficiency of the enterprise in the market place. Further, the enterprise also failed to provide
practice knowledge and theories as I was unable to satisfy the realistic queries of WH and other
patients in an appropriate manner which further led to customer or patient dissatisfaction.
Moreover, cultural issues have also been experienced by me while performing the duties as many
of times I was unable to connect with the cultural talks of WH which reduce some level of
comfort between two of us (Grieco, M. 2016). Lack of personal interactions with the patients is
again one of the major cons of the above mentioned health and social care as formation of
cordial relationship is necessary and relevant to perform appropriate treatment and evaluate the
overall condition of the individuals.
I got least guidance and consultation from other managers and highly qualified professionals of
the enterprise which keep my overall performance to below average category and resulted in loss
of many customers seeking help or assistance from these health and social care organizations.
Lack of training and coaching from respective HR department is undoubtedly one of the worst
scenarios in the current market place, where training and monitoring is controlling the entire
direction of the enterprise in the field of society or economy. On my part, I could have enhance
my engagement level with the patients and studied more about their experience with previous
organizations or care workers in order to understand the overall nature and behavior of the
patient (Grieco, M. 2016). I also failed to create two way communications with many other
patients which further create hesitation for the patients to speak their minds and state about real
problems.
Some other restrictions from the enterprise regarding the visiting hours and unofficial visits keep
the patients unhappy and dejected which further reduce the overall performance level and
efficiency standards of the organization in a bad way. All these practices needs to be re-defined
or re-modified by the organizations providing health and social care services in order to truly
help the needful users and other individuals in best possible manner. All these actions worked
against the enterprise in the market place and enhance the list of customer dissatisfaction in the

obligation in an appropriate manner.

overall society or economy (Hartline, M. and Witt, T. 2014). I also find the recruitment and
placement technique of the above mentioned enterprise unethical and inappropriate as SWOT
analysis of both department and care workers needs to be done in order to match up with the
requirements of the economy and perform accordingly.
With no guidance, consultation, training, and customer oriented techniques, it is not to be
mentioned that the overall status of the enterprise would soon decrease in the market place which
further create sound financial and non-financial issues or uncertainties for health and social care
organization to follow or comply. Further, the practice of not tracking the performance of the
care workers and asking their respective issues reduce the motivational level from the minds of
all the care workers which further lead to customer dissatisfaction or inappropriate treatment in
the market place. I was not at all surprised with the actions of the enterprise as majority of the
conditions of health and social care in the current scenario is same or identical (Hartline, M. and
Witt, T. 2014). I also stand against all the above mentioned practices of the enterprise and want
to contribute towards enhancement of services for the overall society or economy. The enterprise
need to understand the underneath message of social service and should construct customer
oriented strategy for future betterment or benefits.
My overall experience with the placement of the enterprise was poor as majority of the patients
and people under my guidance remain dissatisfied due to unproductive rules and regulations of
the above mentioned health and social care organization which were working not for the
betterment of the customers but against the same. I truly believe in the fact that no other
achievement is bigger, better, and justified that that of customer satisfaction which attracts lot of
potential actions from health and social care organizations and needs to be dealt with proper
responsibility and honesty (Marie Ryan, A. and Derous, E. 2016). I also condemn the overall
structure of International youth centre and not satisfy with the practices and approaches of the
same as they lack personal touch which is necessary to get into the mindset of the patients and
understand their actual requirements from the part of the organization.
Moreover, my performance is affected by enterprise both internal and external environment
which further also affected the satisfaction level of the patients and other needful users in a
negative way. Starting from selection of the professionals to providing training to the same and
monitoring their performance, International youth centre is lacking in each one of the above

mentioned department and are unable to capture the actual requirements and necessities of the
society. Thus, the enterprise is also suffering from technological availability which is one of the
major parameters behind treating mental patients in best possible manner (Marie Ryan, A. and
Derous, E. 2016).
Evaluation of the situational analysis against the standards of International youth centre
standards and expectations for the service delivery to their clients and producing three
options to improve the present status:
The outcome of the situational analysis has shown negative results on the part of the
performance of the organization towards its clientele. I have seen that the organization is failing
to meet the industry standards and therefore, continuously losing its client base. Therefore, it is
the need of the hour that it improves the performance of its employees and meets the
expectations of the clients. I have seen that some major faults are eclipsing the potential of
International youth centre (Only qualified professionals should administer medicines. 2010).
Therefore, in order to improve the service quality the organization can look upon the following
factors.
Development of care workers:
The training is the most effective idea that International youth centre can come up with. It is not
always that every employee is wise enough to handle everything that comes. With the time, the
required skills also changes and therefore, it is needed stay updated. However, with the rigorous
working hours, it is not always possible for the staffs to take on vocational trainings. Therefore,
in-house training programs are needed to be implemented. There should be a certain hours when
the employees will be let known of the necessities and the requirements that the organization
seeks. Therefore, according to Dahlgaard et al. (2011, p.673), it is necessary that they attend the
classes in timely manner. However, as working in a health care organization requires urgency, it
will be optimum if the training sessions be flexible.
Apart from that, there should be regular trainings of the employees that will produce positive
performance in the working hours (Only qualified professionals should administer medicines.
2010). The organization is always hiring employees, therefore, the new set of employees are also
needed to be trained. However, their training programs are not to be alike the previous one. At

first, this type of employees will need to know basic skills that are required from them. The
communication gap between the existing employees and the new ones is needed to be
diminished. Only after that, the organization will be able to train the staffs in their respective
fields (Orrick, W. 2012).
However, there will also be self assessment programs for the employees. In the words of
Takeuchi and Takeuchi (2013, p.463), it is always preferable that an employee find himself or
herself the main skill gap or what is the backlog that is holding him or her back. The self
assessment will also make him or her realize the skill that he or she has in her possession. Then
only the employee will be able to select the appropriate training program and also to triumph the
setback.
Apart from the responsibilities of the employees themselves, the organization will also be having
responsibilities to let them know about the new technical advancements that are taking place in
the industry. It will be the duty of the management to train the employees to handle the machines
that will be needed while handling a patient (Orrick, W. 2012).
However, this will all become a failure if the employee becomes unable to serve the needs when
they arise. Therefore, the standard of the service of International youth centre also depends upon
the willingness and the ability of its employees.
Moreover, while performing the development activities, HR department of International youth
centre could implement theories like Total Quality Management (TQM) which highlights the
significance of collective performance and unity. Through the implementation of this theory,
desired results could be achieved which further secure the overall position and performance of
health and social care even under critical situations. Total Quality Management comprises of
guidelines which improve the overall process, procedures and products of the organization and
proper mixture the physical and human resources which further contribute towards future
betterment (Rad, A. and De Moraes, A. 2011).

the whole procedure hassle free. Most of the advanced economies have health care organizations
equipped with these machineries. However, in case of International youth centre, it has been
found out that the organization has not yet installed the technologies that are required to present
it at par with industry standard (Rad, A. and De Moraes, A. 2011). Therefore, it is necessary that
the organization purchase these machineries and train its employees to handle them.
However, this step includes a vast approach that will be required to improve the overall
performance level of the organization. In this context, Groves et al. (2016, p.97) have said that
any organization in the health and service care sector needs to find out the opportunities that are
constantly missed by the organization. It is necessary to find out each and every step of the
process where the organization is needed to improve.
Once the areas of concern are denoted, it will be the duty of the management of the International
youth centre to come up with strategic options which will improve the overall performance level.
Here, data collection will be the main task. While examining the processes, the assessor will
need to keep information on the facts and then at the time of assessment, these data will be
compared to the industry standard (Sorrentino, L. and Jokinen, A. 2014). After this, it will be the
duty of to report the authority on the areas of improvement.
However, only denoting the failed processes would not complete the overall assessment. On the
basis of the outcome, it will be necessary to install applications and technologies that will boost
the growth of the organization. The International youth centre is failing to cope up with the
quality management issue. Therefore, it will be the duty of the management to implement new
strategic operations like Total quality management. As the organization is lacking in most of the
cases, the total quality management strategic option will enable the organization to overcome its
problems. However, in case of full implementation, it will be necessary to monitor the
performance regularly (Sorrentino, L. and Jokinen, A. 2014).
The total quality management of the health care organization will be to assess several cases. It
will be relating to safety, staff performance, doctor’s capabilities, safety issues, value of the
services and many more. The main guidelines of the total quality management would be the

equipped with these machineries.

It will be customer oriented. It will address the needs of the customers with prudential
views.
It will embark upon creating a true leadership in the organization, staffs will be given
opportunity to assess the matters on their own but for the benefit of the customers as well
the organization (Thistlethwaite, P. 2011).
It will establish a good communication between the employees and the management.
It will assess the processes of the organization and on the basis of that it will focus upon
improvement.
A continuation of processes will be carried on to maintain the mobility.
With the help of the above steps the organization will be able to improve the overall
performance. Moreover, this will bring in extra benefits if the organization starts to use more
advanced machineries and maintain a proper ambience in the premise. Furthermore, with the
development of the respective procedures and advancement of technologies, it would become
feasible for the enterprise to treat the patients and other consumer in an appropriate manner and
fulfill all the loopholes of the strategic management properly. With efficient procedures,
employees, or care workers would be able to connect with the requirements of customers and
other needful users while on the other hand, development of technologies would increase the
overall quality of health and social care organization (Thistlethwaite, P. 2011). Thus, it should be
the practice of the enterprise to update the process and that of technological ingredients after
regular intervals to secure the overall position of the organization even under critical conditions.
Rewards and incentives:
It is seen that rewards and incentives to staffs often increase their level of performance.
Therefore, in order to improve the overall performance of the organization, International youth
centre will need to incentivize its staffs. There could be monetary rewards or even non-monetary
awards. However, in order to reward its employees, it will be necessary for International youth
centre to establish the objectives and the measurements to evaluate the performance level (Tips
to Recruit Professionals. 2016). They will also be given a proper working culture, where they
will be in full authority to achieve the targets to get the rewards. This is a two step process. At
the very first, the duty will be set the objectives and the incentives to be given as stated above
and in the second stage the task will be to inform the employees of the incentives. It will also be

the duty to let them know how their performance will be evaluated and also to motivate.
Thereafter, it will be the duty of the management to monitor the performance of the employees.
In the middle the process, the employees will be informed on their progress and how they will be
able to achieve the rewards (Tips to Recruit Professionals. 2016).
As stated above, the monetary rewards will influence the performance of the employees in the
positive way. On the other hand any kind of punishment will be the example of negative
incentives. It can be done by cutting the salary or even other perquisites or demotion.
Apart from these, the non-monetary rewards like appraisals, extra responsibilities will augment
the performance level of the employees. Any kind of awards like Employee of the Year, Best
Performing character, will make it improve the performance level of the employees. Therefore, a
strategic rewarding system will improve the skills of the members.
However, here to say that all of these will not be possible, if the employees are reluctant to work
for International youth centre. In addition to this, it will also be the task of the organization to
find out the best talent in the line (Trends Affecting Recruitment and Retention of Social Work
Staff in Human Services Agencies. 2011). Therefore, it implies that from the very root of the
employee management, the success of the business depends (Thakur et al. 2012, p.562). If the
employee is unable to do the job, he or she will get trained; however, if it remains totally out of
the natural genre of that person, even the most productive training facilities will become useless.
Therefore, International youth centre needs to select the appropriate candidates for it and move
forward by training them. It could be easily viewed that reward and incentives increase the level
of motivation and concentration inside the attitude and behavior of the employees or
professionals and enable them to understand the dynamic requirements of the customers.
Moreover, rewards and incentives are also necessary to retain highly qualified professionals and
share cordial relationship with them throughout the year. Rewards and incentives business
approach is one of the most innovative tools to connect with each and every care worker and
enable them to work according to the requirement and instruction of the society or economy
(Trends Affecting Recruitment and Retention of Social Work Staff in Human Services Agencies.
