Project Preliminaries Description
Purpose and Scope of the problem
The main purpose of the project is to develop a system for AusEd to provide the students
across Australia would be able to study and enroll themselves for the online course. This system
would be able to provide the student the flexibility of studying from any location of their choice.
Business Context
The AusEd Company is a non-profit organization based in Australia. They intend on
providing the student across whole to Australia to receive education online. The system would
also enable the organization to follow the Australia Corporation Act of 2001. In addition to this,
for the business procedures the organization is divided into three sections: Sales, Courses,
Delivery and Operations.
System Service
Scope of the system
The system would provide the students in Australia to opt for the distance education
programs from any location across Australia, New Guinea and also the South Pacific Islands.
They can pursue their education using various methods such as the online discussion programs,
e-libraries and direct communication with the lecturer.

The main system adopted by the organization is Internet AusEd Online Education
System. The main entities involved with the system are management, teaching staffs and
students. The management includes the administration and sales staffs. The teaching staffs

consists of the academic staffs. All the details of the entities are stored in the system and the
details can be used by the different entities of the system.
Function requirements
The main functional requirement of the system are:
 The students would be able to register themselves for the online course in the system
 The system should mention all the information about the students
 The system should maintain the course details
 The system should maintain the details of the teaching staffs
 The teaching staffs should be able to communicate with the students online

Performance Requirements
The system performances should be efficient so that the system does not lag as the
system has to perform real time activities.

Security requirements
The system would be containing a huge amount of data for the students as well as the
tutors. They would also hold a large amount of organization data. Hence, data integrity and
security is very important criterion for the system.
Operational Requirements
The system should be able to perform all the functionalities such as online lectures and
blogs for the students.
Political and Other requirements
The system should be able to perform all the activities so that the system can maintain
Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency Act (2011).
