INTRODUCTION
Internet is a globally connected network which provides all types of information to the
people. Internet connects massive network, connects millions of computers together, and forms a
network in which computer can communicate with another computer as long as they both are
connected to internet. Today internet is used by almost everybody for their personal use as well
as business use. The report will highlight the positive as well as negative use of internet to
business and society (Huda and et.al., 2017). Further, the study will also describe the types of
threats which are faced by society well as businesses. Moreover, the report will also highlight
different types of communication network providers and their detailed comparison.
TASK
1) Positive and negative use of internet to business and society.
Internet is a globally connected network system which uses TCP and IP tp transmit data
various types of media. Internet is used by everyone today. internet provides various types of
information to people, it is almost used by everyone for their personal use as well as business
purposes (Husin and et.al., 2016).
Positive use of internet to society- As per the author Gretter and Yadav, (2016) internet is used
almost by everybody in society. The biggest impact of internet to society is the popularity of
social network and social media websites. Societies all over the world are becoming stronger,
intelligent and more developed as most technologies are interlinked to internet. By using internet
people get all types of information ie, what is going on around the world, what other people are
doing and culture followed by people in different places. By using social media platforms like
Facebook and Instagram etc, people have become more close with each other and better
communication is created among them. Internet removes geographical barriers between people
and societies get inspired by each other. IT provides freedom of options to share feelings and
thoughts within the society and it provides new ways for social development. Most positive
impact of IT is that societies are breaking superstition, conservatism and cultural egos.
Positive use of internet to business- AS per the view of author Keengwe, (2015) internet
provides many ways of doing business. Internet is used by businesses to perform its day to day
operations. Digital technologies enables the business to attract, retain and engage customers in an

effective manner and in lower prices. Companies get information about customers buying habits
and helps in creating marketing strategies. Most business makes their own website and also uses
many social media platforms to connect with the public and marketing of products. As the rise of
E commerce, social networking and digital technologies allows organisations to reach a global
audience. Geographical boundaries are no longer an major issue. By use of internet small
business can now advertise and sell their goods to customers globally by using various platforms
like flip cart, amazon, etc. Other advantages of IT in business is that, web based technologies
improves teamwork, saves employees time and assist in increasing productivity.
Negatives use of internet to society- As per the view of author Goldie, (2016) Internet is a very
important part of life . By the use of various social media platforms like Facebook and
Instagram, the culture of selfies, propaganda, stress and depression is growing faster online.
Many people share their view points on internet but never implemented in their own life. As use
of internet has expanded widely people spend most of their precious time on their smartphones
leaving their other work. People are too busy these days using internet that they don't have time
to spend with their family and friends. Many fraud tasks are done by the use of internet ie, many
people use social media to raise fund for a social cause but in reality only a few societies is using
that fund for a social and environmental development. Post their activities on Facebook etc but
they are not aware that their data and information can be hacked by other people. People these
days use online shopping website for purchasing goods but they are not aware that their details of
debit card and credit card can be reached to other people (hackers).
Negative use of internet to business- As per the view of author Jacobs, Amuta and Jeon, (2017)
internet is dangerous for business as it brings new competitors from different areas in the market.
The information post by company on their website and other social platforms is reached to the
competitors also. The offers which firm is giving to their customers to increase their sales are
visible top other competitor also, this impact the overall business productivity. The negative
impact of inter to business is that the confidential information stored in the systems can be
hacked by some people. There are many types of malware attacks which damages the data
stored in the systems. There are high chances of data leakage, which is very dangerous for
business. As when confidential data is reached to competitors it affects the productivity of the
firm and it can also lead to losses.

2) Threats faced by organisations and society while using internet.
There are many types of threats which is faced by businesses and people in society.
Threats faced by Organisations-
Malicious software- Malware is known as malicious software it is the most effective method of
breaching security. Attackers use various types of software such as viruses, trojans, worms and
spyware etc. According to author Aksal, (2015) Every malware has its own unique and way of
breaching security and by many ways such software can enter in a business network. Malware
attacks is very harmful for business as data can be monitored by other people, the confidential
data which is stored in computer system can be reached to other people results in business loss.
This is especially dangerous for e commerce websites as they deal with lot of sensitive
information from user, such as credit and debit card, personal information and so on.
Session hijacking- Online communication and transaction happens every minute. Consumers
communicate with business through various servers all over the world. According to the author
Tammaro, (2016) Hackers can easily listens to their conversation and steal their sensitive data by
using methods such as man in the middle attacks, SQL injections and many more. As the
sensitive data is easily reaching to consumers so this impact the day to day operations and overall
productivity of the business. Privacy can not be maintained in business. The data hacked can br
leaked to market or may be given to competitors by hackers for a sake of money.
Data Theft- Data theft is the act of stealing computer based information from unknown victims
with the intent of compromising privacy or obtaining confidential information (Husin and et.al.,
2016). Data theft is widely increasing problem for individual computer users as well as big
corporate organisations. According to author Lecheler and Kruikemeier, (2016) Data theft can
impact the business operation in such a way that their confidential data stored in systems are
stolen by some people. The business is not aware that their data is being stolen so this impact the
activities of organisation. The data theft is dangerous for business as it not only steals business
data but also other important data such as employees data and their personal details, all this can
also be stolen by data theft practice.
Threats faced by society-
Online frauds- As internet is used by almost all the people these days. By the use of internet
many frauds are done by some people ie, many fake investment schemes are introduced to
people and due to lack of knowledge some people becomes victims for this fraudulent practices.

As per the author Hayashi and Fisher-Adams, (2015) By using social media some fraud people
manipulate other people by asking money for charity fund, but actually they don't do all this and
poor people who don't have enough knowledge becomes victim of these types of frauds.
Hacking- Hacking refers to unauthorised access to a computer system or network. The person
engaged in this process is known as hacker. The hacker may alter system or security features to
accomplish a goal which differs from the original purpose of the systems. As per the view of
author Barrett and et.al., (2015) hacking is the most dangerous activity which is done by some
people as people started hacking websites and make misuse of them. People post their details on
Facebook, etc but they are not aware about the risk ie, their accounts can be hacked and
information can be misused for other purposes.
Measures of security and privacy which should be taken while using internet-
There are various methods which should be used for security such as, people should
make their passwords strong and they must use two factor authentication. Strong firewall must
be installed to keep system safe from all types of malicious activities as Firewall stops any other
types of software's to enter in the computer. There are many different types of anti virus
available in the market, like Quick heal security, Avast antivirus, etc people should use them so
that the security can be maintained (Jacobs, Amuta and Jeon, 2017). For being safe from
fraudulent activities people should not share their accounts details or OTP with other persons.
People must use only Trusted and secure Wi-Fi networks.

Applications There are different types of
applications which are provided by
apple are i communicate for i pad.
Apple books, apple podcasts, find
my friends, i monies apple books etc
(Aksal, 2015). Apple has its papular
application know as i tunes which
allows apple products to connect
with other apple products.
There are various types of applications
which are provided by Microsoft such
as Microsoft windows explorer , bing
bar, Skype, office outline and browse
chat etc. There are many other
applications of Microsoft like Ms office
which includes ms power point, ms
work, ms excel, paint etc (Hayashi and
Fisher-Adams, 2015).
Features Apple provides different types of
applications, Apple introduced new
multitasking features, providing all
apps the ability to perform in
background (Goldie, 2016). Apple
uses iOS as its operating system,
which is clean OS and it provides
more security when compare to
other operating systems, apple
Microsoft windows provides lot of
application. one of the famous and most
use application of Microsoft is Skype.
IT is a great app which provides
different features to user. By using this
app people can make video call with
other person using Skype, the main
advantage of this application is that irt

positive uses but there are negatives uses also as many fraudulent activities are done by people
and due to lack of knowledge some people become victims.
