AI Summary
This project report delves into the multifaceted effects of the Internet of Things (IoT) on daily life. It explores the benefits and challenges of IoT, focusing on key issues such as data security, privacy concerns, and the increasing reliance on smart devices. The report provides an introduction to IoT, outlining its core concepts and impact across various sectors. It then examines the positive aspects of IoT, including improved communication, efficiency, and convenience, while also addressing the negative impacts, such as potential security breaches, privacy infringements, and the complexity of managing vast amounts of data. The report includes findings from an analysis of IoT device users, highlighting the importance of real-time information, the effectiveness of IoT in demanding environments, and the challenges related to costs and user understanding. The lessons learned from the project encompass the challenges of real-time information provision, third-party management, security concerns, and maintenance. The report concludes with recommendations for developing secure, user-friendly, and continuously updated IoT devices. The report uses various sources to support its findings.

Effects of the emerging technology
Introduction
Following our current day’s life, the main concern all over the world is data protection
from one’s personal device. Technology has greatly improved through each and every day
innovations, having brought both the positive effects to the people, on the other side we face its
negativity (Pänkäläinen, 2018).
The purpose of this information to gain from my own research work and also to have a
positive gain in my extermination purpose. The subjects being given are the main issues that
arise for using the IoT devices in our daily lives and as pointed out the negativity of the
technology are of serious concern. This affects the individuals when it comes to depending on
the technology. Some of the issues faced are given some examples that affects the users.
One of the major issue is the security problems that has a great impact is insecurity
issues. Due to the fact that the new technology brought in the IoT advancements, issues of
hacking, accessing of unauthorized data and other related issues arise. Hackers are still getting
ahead with trying to crack the protected data thus taking control of the people’s privacy and
taking into control to their devices. For instance, there have been an increase in the problem of
different kinds of ransom-ware which has become a serious threat to security. The aim of this is
to go ahead and attack the service providers and also the cloud merchant. If this kind of attack
succeed from happening, storing data within the cloud may become difficult and thus may end
up failing to provide the expected services to the user (Jamalipour, 2017). This will be due to the
fact that there will be a connection breakthrough that will prevent the user from using the
provided link.

Another issue from introduction of the IoT is unguaranteed privacy of the end user. This
has been brought by the issues of the security cracking which is not generally hacking. It’s the
infringed privacy of the customer that makes him/ her disappointed with their privacy being
insecure. This has made every user to become exposed since any kind of agency or departments
can be able to monitor or make an eye to the individual. This has been an issue that brings
discomfort to the user since IoT claims to have a lot of control over the data which is supposed to
be personal (Khan, 2018).
Storing of the data has been another hectic issue, this has made every user to keep
thinking about the data that they have when using the IoT devices since personal data is meant to
be one of the sensitive sector of everyone who is a user. Currently there are new many ways of
transferring data from a device in this point to another, but the main concern is that is the data
safe? Transferring data especially when one is on the move without any encryption is a great risk
for one to take. A hacker may aim that device and that will make the user to lose control over the
device or to lose the data itself (Guizani, 2017). Either way, since the data goes on increasing
with time, and the user has the role to utilize using it, the more the data the more the chance of
losing it if not managed properly. This usually triggers high chances of stolen data or the device
being hacked.
The other issue that the user of IoT devices face is complexity of the data itself. The data
being stored gets on and on up to a point when the device cannot hold more data, this makes the
device to have problem of working improperly or goes to an extent of crashing. This is due to the
device’s complicated structure that is designed to function under some directed circumstances.
For example, the level sensor which is fully automated that is used to open and also close a water
dam, when the sensor malfunction due technical problem. This may end up opening the water

when not required leading to contributing to massive flooding down the area. Thus sometime we
may not rely on the use of the IoT system.
Dealing with the IoT consumes a lot of costs in maintaining the system stability and set
up. There will always be a plan which will end up getting out of the budget, this happens
especially when the application is new and requires construction of the server. It may also
happen a corporation tends to fix the main host to the server which is based on the cloud, there
will be requirements of an API infrastructure and also the subscription of the communication that
will indicate the real time details of the host. Other costs come from the maintenance and from
the services provided which in most cases are bought from different merchants which becomes
unnecessary expenses.
The user has been challenged when it comes to understanding the IoT devices, from the
increased form development from these devices, the digital owners gives very little knowledge to
the main consumer. How the device is made and how to work with it effectively is a challenge
that the user is facing of understanding the device fully (Park, 2014). This has become a very
vital to each and every user which makes it difficult and by the time the user finds a digital
problem it takes time when one can find a user with the knowledge about the device.
Forgetting the negative effects of these devices, they are also good in the other hand. In
general, these technology inventions are all meant to ease the operation of human efforts. They
assist human in ways of communicating, storing of the data and sensitive information, reducing
the bulkiness of the stored information which could have generally occupied a lot of space
(Zhao, 2017). The IoT devices has contributed to ease in control since most of the working
devices are remotely controlled and therefore ease the tasks done. The issue of communication

thou has reduces facial interaction with partners and loved ones, it has also promoted a sense of
togetherness especially when they are far away from each other.
The IoT devices has improved on human accuracy, efficiency and effectiveness when
carrying out tasks. This is by considering the automated storing of information which has almost
to a 100% accurate (Gani, 2018). This has also led to equity when giving out information since
they use standard ways of information dissemination. This has been achieved since the devices
provide real time kind of information especially when it comes to sending to different media.
Project findings
Basing on the review and the kind of responses that most of the IoT devices users give
have four key findings from the analysis done. First is that, although most of these transit
agencies provides information that is real time on these devices, there are signs of a growing
form of trend that is towards way of deploying this new technology. Also considering this era of
reduction in these services, there is reduced budgets, most of these transit form of agencies
usually uses such industries in order to deliver good customer care services. About 40% proves
to be using this tech in order to reach their customers since information through using these
devices will be more cost effective when providing information which is real-time (Breur, 2015).
The other is that these devices are usually very effective where the environment is
demanding especially where these devices are further developed to become more useful than
expected or the aimed use. The IoT devices has a very useful speed of operating that is beyond
the human capability thus making them more effective to use. In other forms, these devices has
generally become a source of knowledge since they challenge human thinking thus promotes
innovation and development.

The cost that involve provision of the real-time information seems that its not clearly
understood by the consumer or the end user. Considering the cost of the labor in developing the
device. The user also does not understand the cheap cost of using the device since they always
seem to look the benefit to the producer or the agencies that link them.
Lessons learnt
There are different categories of the lessons learnt from the report which are as follows:
The challenges and issues that come along with providing information that is real-time
using the IoT devices.
Problems that are associated from managing the third party in developing these devices.
Problems that arise from the insecurity when using these devices.
Issues that come from maintenance and operating these devices in order to be of much
help to the user.
The overall different lessons that are learnt which may end up benefiting the agencies that
requires the user to have mutual gain.
The costs that mostly affect the end user particularly when considering the capital
expenditure.
Conclusions
There are several conclusions which have been drawn from this synthesis results. One of
the consideration is the provision of secure devices that do not put the user at risk or
make the user unsafe. This is by considering both mental and physical safety that can also
affect the health of the user. The other is the developing agencies to ensure that the
device cannot be manipulated by any other third party involvement thus promoting safe
