Introduction
Internet of things (IoT) can be defined as a development of automation and analytics
system that can exploit networking, big data and artificial intelligence. It aims to deliver a range
of complete system for the products and services (Palattella et al., 2016). This particular system
aims to provide much greater transparency, performance and lastly control. IoT system comes up
with huge number of application in various industries by the help of flexibility and overall ability
for being suitable in the present environment. IoT aims to improve the method of data collection,
automation, operation, and many other things by making use of smart devices (Madakam,
Ramaswamy & Tripathi, 2015). IoT system helps the user in achieving much deeper automation
and integration in the system. IoT aims to enhance the reach of the given areas and their overall
accuracy. IoT makes use of present and upcoming technologies for addressing various aspects
like networks, robotics and lastly object sensing.
In the coming pages of the report, a literature review has been done with respect to
Internet of things (IoT). Around 10 articles on Internet of things (IoT) has been reviewed.
Literature Review
Cui, X. (2016). The internet of things. In Ethical Ripples of Creativity and
Innovation (pp. 61-68). Palgrave Macmillan, London.
As stated by (Cui, 2016), IoT creates a platform where various things and objects in the
given environment can participate where they aim to share the required information with the
stakeholders. With the passage of time, there has been tremendous growth in internet of things. It
makes use of 2G/3G/4G and 5G technology for establishing connection among the device in near
future. The main notion of IoT technology is to create a bridge between physical and mobile

network. There is a need for addressing the growing challenges due to IoT in both virtual and
physical worlds. In the present virtual world, virtualization of network, SDN, cloud computing,
and big data are developing at a much faster rate. The issues in the growing technology need to
be addressed for IoT.

Internet of things: A survey on enabling technologies, protocols, and applications. IEEE
communications surveys & tutorials, 17(4), 2347-2376.
According to (Al-Fuqaha et al., 2015), IoT software tends to address some of the key
areas of action and networking by making use of proper platform. It is all about making use of
partner system and middleware. Both individual and master application are required for proper
data collection, real-time analytics along with its application. It mainly results in exploiting with
the main system with the business ranging from order system to schedule. Software is used in
IoT is proper managing, filtering of light data and lastly data aggregation. Software aims to
collect required data from devices and distribute it as per the demand. The complete work can be
reversed by proper distribution of data in the given devices. The main focus of the system is to
collect required data to a centralized server.
Botta, A., De Donato, W., Persico, V., & Pescapé, A. (2016). Integration of cloud
computing and internet of things: a survey. Future generation computer systems, 56, 684-
700.
IoT (Internet of things) aims to exploit the given standard of protocols and technologies
of networking. Most of the technologies and protocol based on IoT are RFID, Bluetooth and
low-energy rapid protocols (Botta et al., 2016). The given technologies aim to provide support
for the overall functionality of the network that is required in IoT system. Both the technologies

that are RFID and NFC aims to provide much simple and low power energy which is needed to
identity and accessing the required tokens. RFID technology aims to provide two-way radio
communication that is transmitter and receiver which is needed for tracking tags with these
objects. NFC comprises of certain number of communication protocols for electronic devices
more specifically mobile device and standard devices.
Christidis, K., & Devetsikiotis, M. (2016). Blockchains and smart contracts for the
internet of things. Ieee Access, 4, 2292-2303.
The author states that IoT comes up with huge range of application in different industries
and markets. This aims to provide the user groups that will reduce the energy in home to large
organization. IoT is considered to be beneficial in wide range of industries with the development
of technology (Christidis & Devetsikiotis, 2016). There has been growing application of IoT in
wide range of areas for enhancing production, delivery of services and overall safety. IoT
(Internet of Things) aims to provide the most suitable process which is needed for monitoring of
different activities along with real transparency that provides visibility for improving the
opportunities. Deep level of control is completely afforded by IoT which provides more rapid
opportunities that are needed for equipment malfunctioning and understanding issues in
distributed networks.
Wortmann, F., & Flüchter, K. (2015). Internet of things. Business & Information
Systems Engineering, 57(3), 221-224.
Internet of things (IoT) comes up with huge number of application in media,
advertisement which require for gathering the experience of the system. It is all about
understanding the need and overall responsibility of need and interest of customers. The general
idea is mainly inclusive of buying habits, preference, culture and other required characteristics

(Wortmann & Flüchter, 2015). IoT aims to function similar to and much deeper way for present
technologies and big data. The present technologies in IoT are all about collecting particular data
which is needed for providing metrics and pattern in the given time interval. In most of the cases,
IoT aims to improve the whole scenario by keeping a track of behaviors and carrying out an
analysis on them. It ultimately aims to provide the required information which is delivered in
reliable and realistic patterns.
Islam, S. R., Kwak, D., Kabir, M. H., Hossain, M., & Kwak, K. S. (2015). The internet
of things for health care: a comprehensive survey. IEEE Access, 3, 678-708.
The author highlights the point that IoT aims to come up with huge number of application
in environment monitoring like weather, commercial farming and many more. At present,
monitoring technology focuses on the use of manual labor and processing of different things at
lab. IoT can make improvement by reduction of human labor which provides increase in overall
range of sampling and proper monitoring (Islam et al., 2015). The advanced system in IoT aims
to provide much deep monitoring which they suffer from wide range of instruments. IoT has
created a platform where devices can operate without any human intervention like monitoring
and analysis of farm. The given system aims to detect the required changes which are brought to
crops, environment and many others. It can be stated as a standardization process by which an
analysis of data can be done by proper data collection methods. IoT also helps in preventing the
crops from any health hazards for taking place. It ultimately helps in better control over the
crops.

In the above article, manufacturing technology focus on exploiting standard technology
along proper distribution and analytics. IoT can be used for introducing much deeper integration
along with proper analytics. It ultimately provides us a platform that can be fully developed in
the delivery of required products (Lee & Lee, 2015). IoT in manufacturing industry can easily
provide much more insight into real-time application. This particular aims to reduce both the
time and resources that are devoted to one of the areas. IoT also aims to reduce any kind of
associated risk with respect to launching of new modified products. It can take place due to fact
that it aims to provide reliable and detail information.

As stated by Sicari et al., (2015), the complete optimization of IoT is mainly done in
manufacturing of energy consumption. IoT is used in wide range of energy control and function
of monitoring along with application of the devices. Optimization comes into picture from detail
analysis which is earlier unavailable in range of individual and organization. There is increase in
technology that will ultimately result in huge amount of cost. Consumer around the globe is
looking for ways by which they can reduce the overall control consumption. IoT aims to offer a
huge number of ways by analysis and optimization can be done at the various level of devices.

The author in this article aims to emphasize the application of IoT in various building
infrastructure which is needed for automating the residential and commercial based task. It is all
about improving living and environment of working (Sadeghi, Wachsmann & Waidner, 2015).
This particular aspect can be taken into account for manufacturing and energy which reduces the
overall cost along with improving the productivity. The biggest issues that can be encountered in
the domain of building and engineering is the management of their environmental condition.
Conclusion
The above pages of report help us in concluding the fact that this report is all about
literature review on Internet of things. IoT can be defined as well-known infrastructure which is
needed for providing proper connection depending on the present ICT. IoT is considered to have
much more application of machine to machine learning, sensor network, and GPS. It is mainly
needed for enabling the technologies that make use of IoT application. IoT can be sub-divided
into three categories that are technology enabling things for processing information, role of
technology in improving security and privacy and lastly technology for collecting contextual
information.
