1USE OF INTERNET IN RECRUITMENT
Recruitment of employees is an important task for which companies hire HR
professionals and it can be said that this also costs a lot to the companies. These days use of
internet in the recruitment process is common but there certainly some positive as well as
negative aspects of the same. In this paper, these will be discussed and the point of view of
the applicants will also be considered.
Making use of internet for the purpose of recruiting can help in saving budget that can
certainly be utilized for the human resource department. There will be no need to hire extra
personnel for accepting resumes, checking the same and greeting the applicants. It also saves
the expenditure that is otherwise done on printing. An employer can easily figure out the
personality of the employee by visiting his work profile or social media profile thus deciding
whether he is fit for the job or not (Khatri et al., 2015). Recruiters can make use of specific
keywords for scanning the recruits which is otherwise difficult in offline process. Some
disadvantages are missing out on qualified recruits if HR department is not competent with
computer system and internet and recruits can deceive the recruiters through wrong
informations. In many cases applicants feel that face-to-face communication is fairer as
compared to computer-mediated communication in the selection process (Lane, Armin &
Gordon, 2015). The view of the applicants is dependent on their personal experiences and
different people have different views. The applicants are often deceived with fraud job
notifications. Thus, it can be said that using internet properly can help in recruitment process.
