Introduction
The association of the technology in the mining industries have been a great
innovation in the technological sectors especially the innovation of these industries in
collaboration with the internet of things. The areas related to the security, ease of work as
provided by Internet of things to the mining industry has been helpful in regards to the
industry (Aazam, Zeadally & Harras, 2018). However, there are certain fields of issue or
problem that persists with this technological advancement. Some of the issues are described
briefly.
The issue of Internet of things in Mining Industry
Although there are potential benefits in respect to the collaboration of the IoT services
in respect to the mining industry, some significant issues persist in this sector. These are:
Lack of R&D: There is a serious lack in the research as well as development sector of the
mining industries that are thriving for the collaboration of the internet of things. This puts an
adverse effect in the productivity as well as in the efficiency in the process of underground
mining (Nikolic et al., 2017). This will further hamper the overall procedure and can disrupt
the whole system.
Rising costs: The implementation of Internet of things will take a huge investment rather than
the labour cost. Hence, if the project is not having sufficient funds the implementation will
fail for which the mining industry will incur a great loss (Thibaud, 2018). In accordance to
the depth of mines it is well justified the implementation needs a great budget.
Declining labour: The implementation of the Internet of things will put an adverse effect on
the societal jobs of the labours that are involved with the mining industry. If Internet of things
devices start to work more efficiently than that of a labour, it will be obvious that the mining

industries will carry out their work with the Internet of things based devices. This will
hamper the jobs of the associated employees within the mining industry.
Low commodity prices: The prices of the commodities in respect to the mining industries that
are implementing internet of things can be less, which will, hamper the profit of the products
as developed from the overall procedure.
Declining Ore Grades: The usage of the IoT devices with respect to the mining industry can
degrade the quality of the product, as the devices are not capable of judging the overall
procedure regarding the mining sector (Sharma, Gupta & Sharma, 2017).
The privacy factor: With the implementation of the IoT devices, the privacy is a serious
concern with respect to the reports as well as the information present within the mining
industry. The Secure Access Framework must be implemented in the Internet of things
devices that will be carrying the important data within the industry. Without the successful
implementation, the privacy of the organization may be confronted.
The safety factor: There is a serious concern regarding the Internet of things devices that are
implemented over the mining industry. This is due to the fact that the environment of mining
deals with many important section that are likely to be the depth of the mine, the labours
working over there, the harmful gases present in the mines (Singh, Kumar & Hoetzel, 2018).
If the Internet of things is not successfully implemented then the factors can persist in a
negative manner that will further hamper the overall execution procedure of the mining
industry.
The emergency issue: As there are, many safety issues persistent with the mining industry
there must be an emergency structure that will help the organization to cope with the
emergencies within the industry (Zhang, Chan & Zhou, 2018). If the IoT devices are not

Thus from the above report it can be well presumed that there are many security
issues that are prevailing in the industry of mining related with Internet of things enabled
devices. These issues must be critically assessed by the mining industry to prevent the
adverse effects regarding the mining industry. This can be concluded from the above report
that, since mining industry is quite related to the civil works there is a huge possibility of the
safety as well as security of the different sectors associated with it. This must be identified
earlier and appropriate solutions must be implemented to restrict the adverse situations in
