INTERNET OF THINGS FOR SMART CITY
Introduction
The Internet of Things (IoT) has been creating several opportunities for the
heterogeneous end system. Building infrastructures with the help of IoT technologies have been
helping in maintaining a proper approach to construction industry (Arasteh et al. 2016). IoT
paradigm has been creating opportunities in different domains including home automation,
intelligent energy management, and mobile healthcare and smart grids (Centenaro et al. 2016).
Therefore, such heterogeneous field of application makes different identification in the solution
of capable in satisfying requirements. The Smart City concept has been futuristic depended on
implementation of IOT in the construction industry. As commented by Arasteh et al. (2016), IoT
has been helping in enlightening the future of the construction industry by proposing various
major Smart City projects in the country.
Technical materials
Authors have focused on the technical aspects of the IoT in the building Smart City. As
commented by Anagnostopoulos et al. (2015), Smart City market has been estimated at hundreds
of billion dollars by 2020. Implementation of IoT in Smart City has been creating benefits and
factors affecting the standard of living of people in the society.
Structural Health of Building: The structural integrity measurements and checking
vibration in the buildings outsources report of the building for re-construction (Zanella et al.
2014). The IoT devices including sensors help in understanding light impact of earthquake in the
region. The Smart buildings are constructed with earthquake resistance method to minimize
damage during an earthquake.

Waste Management: Waste management has been a major issue in modern cities in order
to cost of services and problem of storing garbage in landfill. The use of the ICT devices has
been helping in storing waste materials in proper place and recycling them for mitigating
problems (AlEnezi, AlMeraj and Manuel 2018).
Smart Parking: The smart parking system has been based on sensors connected on roads
that smartly detects vehicle over roads. The benefits deriving from smart parking might help in
minimizing accidents (Khanna and Anand, 2016).
Claims and explanation
The urban IoT has proposed an IoT architecture that might help in providing a clear idea
about the Smart City concept. The architecture is simple and clearly understandable. IoT domain
has many standards that might help in setting several construction for Smart City. Various
communication protocols including HTTP, IPv4 and IPv6 have helped in connecting several IoT
devices in network. Various layers have been implemented in the architecture including Data,
Application and Network. The XML language coding has been helping in maintaining coding in
the IoT devices (Strohbach, Ziekow, Gazis and Akiva, 2015).
Evaluation
Authors have focused on the solutions for implementing urban IoT in the Smart City. The
discussed technologies have been properly. Applications of IoT have been implemented in Smart
Cities. The use of large design process in the Smart cities have been maintaining the
constructional scenario in the industry. Technologies used in the IoT solutions have helped in
providing a better opportunity for the development of the city (Rathore, Ahmad, Paul and Rho
2016). The authors have been focusing on the level of maturity in the research paper that implies

to the development of practical realization of adoption of IoT. The use of the IoT technology has
been estimating traffic in generated by services provided by the IoT devices. Implementation of
IoT in Smart City has been creating benefits and factors af6fecting the standard of living of
people in the society.
Assessment Criteria and scores
The aim and objectives of the research paper has been taken in account for providing a
keen approach to the study. A comprehensive approach has been implemented in the research
paper. The authors have properly evaluated different technologies for implementing IoT devices
in the Smart cities. The score has been provided as 29 out of 35 that reflects a good score for the
research study. The methodology of the study has been provided with 8/10 in relevance. The
authors have helped in maintaining the validity and reliability of the research study. The use of
concrete IoT paradigm have helped in providing a better opportunity for development of Smart
cities. Data collection has been reliable and al the ethical consideration has been maintained in
the study. References has been taken from Google Scholar and Google Searches.

Urban IoT are designed for Smart City vision that aims at exploring advanced communication
technology with added value. The use of IoT technology has helped in implementing
microcontrollers, digital communication, home appliances, surveillance cameras and monitoring
sensors. These appliances have helped in maintaining a proper outlook in the Smart City.
ï‚· What are the challenges in implementing IoT in the Smart Cities?
Various challenges including internet availability, Lack of vendor availability, Cyber-attacks and
Lack of skilled labors in the country have been prevailing in the projects. This market has been
creating opportunities in the market for the construction industry. The use of the IoT technology
has been estimating traffic in generated by services provided by the IoT devices.
ï‚· What are the strategies for mitigating challenges in implementing IoT in Smart Cities?
IoT has been focusing in the maintenance of historical buildings of a city in order to restore the
national heritage. Old buildings are properly analysed and implementation of IOT services have
helped in constructing and repairing buildings. IoT provide centralized database that might help
in accessing data form any place. Wastes have created pollution in cities that have been causing
several problems including health problems. Therefore, IoT has been helping in creating smart
waste containers that might help in recycling wastes for minimizing pollution.
