Internship Programs
From Employer’s point of view
Internships are an important aspect for the students undertaking professional studies, as
internship results in improving their skills and competencies, as from the employer point of
view, internships result in advantage to the organisation, as the interns within the organisation
are not required to be paid as equal to the full-time employee, therefore it improves the cost-
effectiveness of the organisation. Also, the internship programs help the organisations in
effectively identifying the potential talents within the industry and focus on retaining the
interns within the organisation as permanent employees of the organisation. The internship
programs result in the introduction of new talent within the organisation at a low cost, also
with valuable and fresh ideas which improve the operational efficiency and boosts
productivity (Reynolds & Findley, 2012).
The employees also face challenges in hiring and providing opportunities to the interns, as
the interns are the freshers with no industry experience just theoretical knowledge, therefore
it becomes the responsibility of the employer to train them and provide experience, also the
interns cannot be held accountable for the mistakes committed as they are under training and
work as per the guidance provided to them. Also, during the hiring process, the employer is
not able to analyse whether the intern will be able to work as per expected or not, as the
intern does not have any practical experience. The internship programs result in providing
benefits to the employers in terms of the cost-effectiveness but sometimes it results in
affecting the organisational effectiveness within the industry.
From Intern’s point of view
The internship programs from the viewpoint of the students or the interns are beneficial as
they provide them with practical experience within the industry and an opportunity to apply
their theoretical knowledge within the organisational scenario and to understand the
effectiveness of the theoretical knowledge gained. Also, the students can analyse their
strengths and weakness while applying the approaches within the practical situations, through
which they are also able to develop the required skills and competencies after learning from
the mistakes made by them during the internship.
The internship programs help the student in developing them to be an industry professional
and understanding the challenges and opportunities that are available within the industry, also

with an opportunity to get a full-time job invitation form the organisation in which he is
working as an intern. Such programs and practical exposure to the industry helps the students
to boost up their resume, by adding relevant experience with their theoretical knowledge. The
internships also have certain negative aspect for the interns, as being fresher the organisation
does not show much interest in involving them in actual work practices and treat them as an
assistant within the organisation, also the interns are not paid as per their competence or the
value that has been added by them towards the organisation, which demotivates them to
actively work during their internship phase, also results in an investment which has been
