1INTERNSHIP REFLECTION
Introduction
Internship activities introduce an individual to the real life scenario while influencing the
adaptability and the steady decision making capabilities of the same. In this relation, the personal
reflection would critically acknowledge the skills and capabilities that I have gained during my
internship activity in the organization Agape Outreach Inc.
Reflection on the Internship Plan
The internship project was a mutual collaboration between the Local Community
Internship Program at Griffith University and Agape Outreach Inc organization with the purpose
of assisting the homeless people in Tweed Heads region. The project will focus on providing the
interns with an experience of working on professional projects while supporting the needs of the
homeless communities in the region. While working as an intern I developed cognition on the
manner in which the visual documentation might be created in accordance to the dream of the
concerned organization while working on the Tiny Houses Project. I was entrusted with the task
of conducting site studies, creating conceptual and schematic designs while documenting the
deliverables to the organization. I faced significant issues initially in coping with the new
environment of work and collaborating with different people in the same project. However, I
tried to stick on to the instructions that were given to me by the supervisors. Therefore, it helped
me in improving the performance of the venture as per the objective of supporting the needs of
the homeless in the region.
Example of the activities in a professional project which enhanced my performance
The internship program required me to develop cognition on the planning and designing
activities of the project elements to suit the common objective of supporting the needs of the
homeless communities in the region. I will be assisting the organization, on behalf of Griffith

University, for designing the architectural design and layout of the project. In this relation, I was
required to communicate and collaborate with the different stakeholders in the project while
planning and designing the layout in the internship program. Moreover, the internship activity
also helped me in developing an idea on the current legislations that administers the architectural
activities that are being established in the nation.
The differences between the town planning requirements between New South Wales and
Queensland also contributed to my knowledge as a planner. Overall, the internship project
helped me in developing my inter-personal skills while improving my understanding on the
legislative frameworks that might influence the rate of operation of the planner in the context of
different communities. The concerned organization, Agape Housing Estates, focused on
developing and creating durable and affordable solutions for supplying the homeless
communities with sustainable accommodation. Therefore, the internship program provided me
with an opportunity of exploring the different innovative layouts, while relying on my critical
thinking and decision making capabilities.
Theorem as a new window for viewing the internship
The Ecological System theory greatly emphasizes on the relations between the levels of
ecosystem and the manner in which the same influences the behavior of the individuals, groups
and the entire ecosystems. In this relation, the application of the concept of Ecological systems
theory would assist Agape Outreach Inc. in identifying the micro and macro factors that
specifically affected the homeless communities in identifying the issues and thereby designing
the layout of the architectural structure for the Tiny Houses Project. I believe that the theorem
would assist me in future while planning the architectural design in future. The theorem acted as
a new window for me while scheduling my activities while assessing the impact of immediate

environment on the micro level and the socio- cultural influences on the macro level of the
ecosystem. Therefore, the theorem would empower my designing aspects as a town planner
while identifying the current issues that are being faced by the communities.
Reflection on the engagement with the modules
My engagement with the modules helped me in developing an idea on the attributes
relating to critical judgment and communication for improving my performance as an architect.
Likewise, the knowledge on the human rights and relevant legislations related to the town
planning ha helped me in developing cognition on the different aspects of change in the
organizational operations as per the needs of the venture. The development of the cognition on
the objectives of the concerned organization in delivering communities for the homeless in the
region helped me in idealizing on the manner in which a non-profit organization operates on
social justice. Therefore, apart from my communication and collaboration related skills, I
believe, the internship project also helped me in deriving idea on the geographical regions in the
Australian context.
Risks that might be faced during the activities
The risk register helped me in developing idea on the physical, human resource and
internship work related risks. I faced significant issues in assessing the relevant risks and
prioritizing the same in accordance to the job. Moreover, the risks due to lack of efficient
communication restricted my capability of collaborating with the different stakeholders. In this
relation, the supervisor assisted me in improving my cognition on the different issues and the
manner in which the same might be prioritized, in correlation with the project objectives.
