Answer 1
According to my choice, there should be an appeal procedure for solving grievance of nonunion.
In the suggested case the appeal should come in the form of a committee that listens to the
original decision and the appeal and gives a judgment call on whether or not it should be
managed this particular way. It should be assured that original decision not included within the
committee.
Answer 2
The key difference between the union and nonunion grievance proceedings is that union can go
directly to arbitration, on the other hand, nonunion mainly utilize three key steps: administrative
head, immediate supervisor, and the to an appeal board (Colvin, 2013). Unions are similar
because they have the same steps of the department manager, immediate supervisor, or
administrative head. But both the union do not go directly to an appeal board, but they go to
relations direction and then arbitration process. It consumes lots of time of both unions. In a
single time, more than one person can make the appeal to the appeal board, and there is the
single arbitrator for all proceedings. According to me, union dealings can get very difficult and
complex than nonunion dealings.
Answer 3
As per my choice, the things that prevent the manager from handling grievances are the thinking
style and perception of the manager (Colvin, 2014). The manager thinks that he should make
rushed decisions because individual prefer to make a quick decision which may cause the
manager to take a faulty decision. The absence of communication may be another reason for it.

Answer 4
According to my opinion, the grievances that one can expect to hear as a manager will be
different from person to person. Some individuals can expect that the shift supervisor is not
flexible enough with their shifts which bring violations (Lewin, 2014). Sexual harassment can be
the big reason, among possible things. It mainly depends on different management styles.
