Theme Inter-professional practice is one of the important self-reflective
exercise which requires education, training, and skilled
development (Reeves et al., 2017). Child trauma is one of the
growing issues in today’s world, effecting majority of the children
in their early childhood (Van der Kolk, 2017).
Problem Childhood trauma occurs in children who has witnessed traumatic
or difficult situation which lead such children towards violence,
misbehaviour, lack of interest, anxiety, depression and have
difficulty in social involvement (Baumeister et al., 2016). Thus it is
important to provide inter-professional assessments to these
children in order to help them overcome their condition (Nester,
2016).
Thesis Statement According to Van Westrhenen & Fritz, (2014), the children witness
various different kinds of hash and difficult experiences which
involves physical and mental abuse, violence at home,
discrimination, social violence (Cartwright, Franklin, Forman &
Freegard, 2015). These experience effects the mind of the children
and these effects are believed to stay for long time harming the
children from inside and if not treated on time, it might become
life-long (Lutfiyya, Brandt & Cerra, 2016). Such a condition can

lead the children towards massive destruction, effecting their mind,
health and social life (Marusak et al., 2015). the inter-professional
practice can help the nursing staff to provide proper care and
treatment in order to help these children develop and recover from
their trauma condition (Fox et al., 2015).
Plan for the Essay Introducing the childhood trauma and inter-professional
practice with the acknowledgement of appropriate
information, with the aim in collaborating the two in order
to promote better health (Yu et al., 2019).
Defining inter-professional practice along with the ethics
that are involved in the practice in order to guide the nursing
staff to promote better care and treatment to the children
suffering from complex trauma conditions (Theodorou et
al., 2018).
Use of the ethics in the nursing practise and how it helps in
treating children with trauma conditions which guides the
nurses to provide better, discrimination free, equal, value
based nursing care and also respecting the decision of the
patient in their treatment process (Reeves, 2016).
Role of nursing staff in using inter-professional practice in
trauma suffering children and also how they will use the
practice to generate interventions and strategies to help the
child understand the needs to recover and get better from

Review the strengths and weaknesses of the practice in
providing care to the patient in order to overcome the flaws
and provide a better care to the child who has been
traumatised by difficult experiences (Hermann, Head, Black
& Singleton, 2016).
Asses the overall usefulness of the inter-professional
practice in the childhood trauma situations (Williams et al.,
2016).
At the end a conclusion will be proposed base on the above
discussed information regarding the childhood trauma and
the effect of inter-professional practice of nursing
(Hermann, Head, Black & Singleton, 2016). It will also
discuss the overall outcome of the practice in helping the
children overcome their trauma conditions. (Lopez-Patton et
al., 2016).
Background Children who have been exposed to tragedies which later turned
into childhood trauma have greater chance of witnessing mental
health conditions (Danese & Lewis, 2017). The importance of the
inter-professional practice for the nursing staff with the role to treat
and care vulnerable children suffering from trauma condition is to
use better communication, understanding therapeutic relationship
and management plan in helping these children recover from their

education (IPE) is proposed to permit the various nursing and
health care professions which includes dental, medical, nursing,
psychotherapy, physiotherapy and psychology (Lutfiyya et al.,
2016). It helps to understand and develop a better therapeutic
relationship among the patient and the other staffs in order to
provide a better advanced health care facility and ensure recovery
for the children (Bryant et al., 2017). The inter-professional
relationship of the nursing and health care disciplines which is
found to provide the patients with the enhanced opportunity to
obtain a better quality of care which has an influence of the other
nursing and health care disciplines and knowledge (Kuhlman,
Geiss, Vargas & Lopez-Duran, 2015). The collaboration of various
stakeholders along with the patient is found to develop a better
outcome for the patient, as knowledge from various filed are
adjoined together with will help to plan an advanced treatment for
the children (Nowak, Klimke-Jung, Schäfer & Reif, 2016).

Discussion The trauma-informed care (TIC)are found to involve the
inter-professional practice to the better health care delivery
which highlights the unhelpful and the long-term effects of
the violent, physical or mental abuse, and neglected attitude
on a child’s enduring mental, physical, economic and
emotional, well-being (Flood, Hocking, Smythe & Jones,
2019).
The trauma-informed care is a developing health care
concept which is developed to assess the severe effects of
childhood trauma (Roberts & Kumar, 2015). The nurses
play an important role in providing advanced trauma-
informed care for the suffering children (MacKenzie et al.,
2017).
The Inter-Professional Collaborative practice guides the
nursing and the health care professionals to practice care
giving in the following process (Cox et al., 2016):
1. Emphasize the values and the ethics of the provided inter-
professional practice for providing better care by focusing
on the patient benefits and interests at the chief factor in the
health care distribution, and it is also important to embrace
the cultural values and diversity of the patients and the
differences that exist within the health care professionals
when working in a group (Cartwright, Franklin, Forman &

2. Influencing the diverse character and responsibilities of the
inter-professional practice team in order to properly
measure the patient’s condition and address the patient’s

professionals to create a better and enhanced
communication skills with the patients, their families and
the other staff members in order to assess the condition and
implement the treatment in much effective manner
(Ketcherside et al., 2017).
4. It also guides to accomplish the practice and treatment
efficiently in numerous roles in order to deliver the patient
in need with proper care and treatment ensuring, time,
safety, well-organized care, effectiveness and reasonability
(Lindh Falk et al., 2018).

Conclusion The inter-professional practice in found to enhance the

It has been seen that the implementation of the inter-
professional practice among the nursing staff and other
health care professional has improved the delivery of care
and treatment to the patients (Lutfiyya, Brandt & Cerra,
2016). It has also helped the nursing staff to better asses the
patient suffering from trauma and understand their needs
and requirement through a better communication (Lopez-
Patton et al., 2016).
The inter-professional practice in childhood trauma patient
involves various kinds of interactive sessions in order to
revel the incident that lead the child through trauma, the
needs and requirement they seek to get better in their health
condition (Baumeister et al., 2016). The various type of
inter-professional interactive session elaborates the
principles of inter-professional which are found to involve
egalitarian, experimental, collaborative, egalitarian and
reflective activities (Van der Kolk, 2017).
