understand one of the following: education, healthcare, the criminal justice system?
There is certain connection between different components of a society which include class, gender and
race primarily. The approaches that were initiated for identification of major differences that exist
between social identity in terms of gender or race are referred to as inter-sectional approaches.
Intersectionality is a concept which is mostly used in critical theories for describing the ways in which
oppressive institutions are interconnected and cannot examine separately from one another (Schneider,
Mokomane and Graham, 2016). There is use of intersectional approach for examining the inequality and
diversities of educational experiences. This intersectionality help in understanding the way to avoid
discrimination in educations. However, intersectionality is focused on existence of multiple identities
which together contribute for creation of one complete individual. For instance, a person who has
gender as an identity can definitely have social class, ethnicity or sexual orientation as another
component of identity(Gross, Gottburgsen and Phoenix, 2016). Intersectionality is a sociological theory
in which the way an individual can face different threats of discrimination at the time when their identity
overlap a number of minority classes that is race, ethnicity, gender etc. Here discussion is done of
intersectionality at education. This intersectionality theory assist in understanding the way
discrimination can be overcome in education so, that minority class students can be treated equally in
respect to provide education.

ancient times, upper classes or the individuals that presumed themselves to belong to higher race
adopted oppression as the practise to limit intersectionality.
Further intersectionality is used for making policy and discussion and practices, so it looks like a zipper
which add issues that is oppression and dominance with different kind of social categories. This
inequality arises from society where people are categorized from their birth on the basis of race,
cultural, gender etc. Further on idea based on the intersectionality is that a person experience with a

multitude factors that are age, gender race and socio economic location interact or intersect in different
way which can be pros or cons the living standard of person and their development (Rogers and
Meltzoff, 2016). Since, students in school and colleagues are judged on the basis of there race, gender,
cultural etc. which all are experienced by them from longer time. This adversely affected the standards
of living and growth of individuals who were discriminated (Duncan, Roberts and Curtin, 2016).
Furthermore, people suffering from social isolation and discrimination on the basis of race were not
given access to basic facilitation which in turn resulted in lack of development in one part of the society.
The intersectional approach can effectively use within the education system for promoting equality.
Through this approach, an educator must develop sensitivity towards individuals that are from diverse
social backgrounds without getting affected by traditional discriminatory practises(McCormick
MacArthur and Dicicco, 2016). It becomes human tendency to separate individual from each other on
the basis of race, cultural, gender etc. for teachers and students due to presence of equity issue.
However, when considering the application of intersectional approach in everyday living, the
experiences and knowledge acquired by a person in his/her life is through various identities and not
from one single component dominantly. This denotes that intersectional approach helps in identifying
contextual elements which separate individuals on various grounds.
It is so because teachers have tendency to unification and seeing pupils as a uniform groups
instead of a set of individuals with various backgrounds, needs and possibilities (McCormick MacArthur
and Dicicco, 2016). Further, it has been noticed that different teachers show different reaction to
students on the basis of their social group. As middle class people are usually less strict and more
tolerant than the treatment of others who belong to lower class. There is negative labelling of children is
done on the basis of their racism, gender, class etc. the bully and behavior problem attached with
children due to which they cannot focus on their development (Duncan, Roberts, and Curtin, 2016).
There are different cases relate to the unique experience of discrimination on the basis of educational
contract and the interaction of grounds. For instance a person who face religious discrimination if they
identify by another ground that is race, colour and ethnic origin.
It is inferred that intersectional approach is quite important and helpful in developing an insight of the
disadvantages and inequalities which exist in education system. The behavioural differences that occur
in education style of teachers based on cultural or social background aspects is reflected through inter-
sectional approach.

avoid discrimination which take place in education. In many schools and colleges students. Further, it
has been identified that minority class people face discrimination due to which they are unable to be
highly qualified. Inequalities take place from the society which spread in different system such as

Intersectionality is known as the theory in sociology which reflect the way a person can undergo
a number of threats of discrimination at the time when identity intersect in different aspects like classes
that is race, gender, age and health (Gross, Gottburgsen and Phoenix, 2016). It is quite important to
understand the impact which has been addressed in General Elections that took place in 2017 in UK with
perspective of intersectional identities.
There are different identities which intersect that is social class, race, gender, religion etc. Further
intersectionality holds that classical conceptualization of oppression within society that is classism,
sexism and racism. Identities are relevant to understand the election because an individual who stand in
election is voted by people on the basis of its identities.
The existence of diverse backgrounds in society causes severe impact over the political atmosphere of
the country (Gao and Kerstetter, 2016). Considering the intersectional point of view, class played a
prominent role in 2017 elections HOW. The introduction of several equality policies which provided
reservations on the basis of gender is the second prominent component that affected politics of the
country. There are large high number of women and ethnic minority were elected by the Labour party of
UK in both the terms of relative and absolute. Further conservative party may selection of the women

make selection of eight percent from non-white background. Further Labour party placed its candidates
as at more marginal and winnable seats which result in 9% of minority. Hence this pattern highlighted

are high number of women are elected in election of 2017. Identity is very important so that candidate
can take participate in election. If candidate belong to minority class then it may face trouble in getting
ticket.

As per the above picture, the parties and their candidates percentage in terms of female individuals, the
Labour party stands highest. There were about 40.4% candidates from female category that took part in
the General Elections. This depicts that political parties took feminism and gender equality as the
triumph card to win seats in the government. Apart from race discrimination, gender holds a powerful
form of identity amongst individuals from every class (Christiansen, Møldrup and Thorboe, 2016).
Through the statistics presented in above picture, it is clear that gender identity is one of the inter-
sectional base that had affected the General Elections of 2017.
In election there are more than half number of people who stand in election and belong to minority
class. Along with this there is party who stand in election and force minor class people stand in election.
Ethnicity is one of the important attribute for intersectionality because each vote increase and reduce
the chances of winning election. There is black representative is about to 30% which is compare to white
counterparts is double.
There was a great impact of intersectional identity, in politics there are few parties who does not make
choose Representative from the minority or female candidates. This lead to impact the votes because
there are large number of people who belong to the lower class does not vote to such party who make
such kind of discrimination (Warner, Settles and Shields, 2016).

through inter-sectional analysis. However, many of the charity campaigns are based on upliftment of
those groups that have been struck by certain causal accidents.
Current strategic dialogue is based on charity campaign that was conducted on privileged
women of the society who had been victim of oppression or gender and sexist discriminatory activities.
It is critically evaluated that there is great issues and experience that there are more socially
marginalized women who are erased or dismissed. Intersectionality is known as the understanding that
one person oppression is different as compared to another person at the time when multiple oppression
are played. For instance, racial and gender oppression will work together so that black women can be

The campaign which is analysing is “my feminism” which is campaigns promoting
intersectionality because feminism is for every one (Lutz., J 2015). There are many white women's

rightist who for instance who used racist material in their campaign. Learning is about. The best way to
communicate campaign is to provide visual preservation regarding feminism and this campaign was
organized by those people who are experienced in this field. Along with this it is communicated
organizing skit so that people can understand and get aware of it in better manner.
The key focus is my feminism which argues that feminism is for everyone careless of race, sexual
orientation, gender and age. So this campaign is made in such a manner.
The theory of intersectionality is not new so it does not have some instant solution which will solve
everything. Therefore, it is important to understand the way it intersectionality is used as tool in order
to explore the identity, oppression and liberate which can help activities to create more different and
comprehensive campaign. All tier campaign are committed for creating more intersectional campaigns
and practices. Further the intersectionality can be defined as the disadvantage and inequality which was
faced by the racism and gender which creates a specific form of oppression. Further it is critically
evaluated that racism is equated which was experienced by Black men and on the other side sexism is
equated all the trouble and experienced faced by white women. It cannot achieve success in capturing
and account for the particular experience related to discrimination which is faced by the black women
and it is also based on the gender and race.
At the time when many people think of a feminist they can be picture something that is young whit
women on colleges campus. The right inherent in that image that is class privilege, while privileged and
this all are the reason which show the intersectional, inclusive feminism is essential at modern era.
Further intersectional feminism so that there are many people who do not have experience of different
forms of discrimination which consider racism, Islamphobia and Homophopbia.
As considering the analogy to show an intersection which is coming and moving at all the four direction.
For instance, discrimination that flow in one direction or it may be flow to another directions
(McCormick, MacArthur and Dicicco, 2016) . As like same, black women are harmed due to an
intersection because there injury may result of the sex discrimination. Fundamentally the, class, gender
and race are intersecting categories of experience which directly impact the all aspects of human life.
The discrimination which takes place on the basis of gender and social categories can be assessed
through intersectionality aspects. There is a possibility that ethnic minority individuals might not
discriminate the upper class people or vice versa(Warner, Settles and Shields, 2016). Females that

to the individuals from same gender.
Women and marginalized genders which are under represented and not treated as human
being. This system is impacted because it chooses the way of living and generates sexism in society. But
the experience of women is not a homogeneous (Celis, Childs and Kantola, 2016). As the
intersectionality can be used as the challenges and the opinion which was experienced by women. If
there is single issues then it oppression by peeling light on other oppressive structures. As it can be
consider in UK that there is gender pay gap which is not reaches up to 20% . it is so because type of
employment that women can easily access is more different as it compared to men. There in United
Kingdom, women are more educated as compare to women. On the other side there are black and
while inequalities in the labor market (Gross, Gottburgsen and Phoenix, 2016). Black people leave
university as the are unemployed as compared to white leavers. The ethnic minorities is facing one of
the immense challenges and difficulties in order to get proper education.
This campaign is very effective in respect to make create awareness among people that
discrimination is completely wrong and it should be avoided.
The existence of patriarchal society has been prevalent since a very long time. But with emergence of
globalisation and increasing awareness of individuals, there has been growth in the activities which uplift
women from marginalised groups. This upliftment is focused on eradicating or limiting the powers which
are given to men as a more powerful gender. Furthermore, every area of development like business,
politics or even in-house maintenance works, women are promoted to acquire equal opportunities and
chances of development. The charity campaign undertaken for this purpose can said to be successful
only when there are practical changes experienced by these group of women. It is analysed that there
are different intersectional tools which need to used in respect to avoid gender discrimination which is
done by people in different field such as education, politics etc. for instance campaign help in making
aware that in education both girls and boys should be treated equally without any discrimination

way racism, unfairness and other discrimination creates a inequality. It helps in getting knowledge and
overcome mechanism of social chain of command so that dominance cultures. Further there ethnic
minorities which are getting less education and low quality services as in respect to the social services.
There are major ethnic minorities who are sufferer from the poverty because they are not much
educated. In the education discrimination was done on the basis of culture, race and gender. Further it

can be concluded that in politics there are discrimination done on the basis of gender, age and culture
etc. Hence, inter sectional approach tool help in overcome the race, gender and other kind of different
in education system.
