 Electronic business or e business is a proper
conduct of various business processes via Internet
connection.
 The main activities involves buying or selling of
products and services, production control
management and payment processing (Vu et al.,
2017).
 One of the major technologies of e business is
Intranet connection.

Description of Intranet
 Intranet is a private network, which is being
accessed by a closed group of people such as
organizational staff or students of a college.
 Security is maintained due to restriction of data
access within Intranet.
 The main purpose of Intranet is to provide better
and secured connection of Internet.

Major Issues Faced in Intranet
Although, few significant advantages are present for
Intranet, there are some issues as well that are faced
in Intranet, which are as follows:
 Low Usage of Intranet: Business and other
organizations encounter this problem and hence
data processing problems are much common here
(Hodkinson, 2013).
 Minimum Support from Users: Since, Intranet often
encounters software issues and complexities, there
can be minimum support from users.

 Dropping Off of Time by Users: The usage starts at dropping
off and could often not add much value to users’ work.
 No Demonstrable goals and Milestones: Lack of goals and
milestones is the next significant issue.
 High Costs and Complexities: The service is extremely

 Outdated Technologies: The technologies are extremely
outdated as compared to extranet and Internet.

ownership to Intranet is extremely challenging and
hence can bring major issues.
 Problematic Design: The design of this technology is

 Disorganized Filing System: The information stored in
this technology is often disorganized.

 Outdated Technologies: Regular up gradation of
technologies is the best solution.

senior staff member could bring a formal governance
model.
 Problematic Design: The design should be checked in
the initial phase.
 Issues with bugs and Software: Implementation of
proper antivirus and firewall software can reduce this
issue.

procedures and policies can reduce this issue.

Intranet in Current Situation
 The Intranet in current world is much more effective
and efficient for providing a safe and secured
private network to the customers.
 Specialized encryption and decryption technologies
are involved in this technology of Intranet to make it
even more secured (Hodkinson, 2013).
 The gaps and challenges that were common in
earlier times, are being reduced to a high level.

Conclusion
Therefore, conclusion can be drawn that Intranet is a
major part of e business technologies. This intranet is
a major private network, which is being contained in
an enterprise. Intranet even consist of several
interlinked LANs or local area networks and even
utilize leased lines within the WANs or wide area
networks. It is extremely safe and secured, however
comprises of few issues that could be resolved with
proper strategies.
