Most relevant SDGs to the Intrepid Group
Intrepid Group is dealing in tourism industry at global level and following 8 goals of
sustainable development. These selected goals develop environment, societies and localities
in the world. Tourism affects every aspect of a place whether it is climate, economy, trade,
culture and development factor. Intrepid Group clearly understand the value of ethics in a
business and SDGs is the way to bring its ethics very high with the achievement of SDGs.
The most relevant and suitable three SDGs of Intrepid Group are as follows;
Planet 11 sustainable cities and communities
Planet: 13 Climate action
Partnership: 17 Partnerships for the goals
These three SDGs are most relevant with the Intrepid Group. This company is the world’s
largest adventure company supporting and performing activities to achieve SDGs. Intrepid
Group follows policies to make development in cities and communities. A tourism industry
mainly deals in arrangement of tours at different places than sustainable development of
cities is their core responsibility. Intrepid Group promote uses of local availability in an area
like use local transportation, local food, local stay and many local facilities it reduce the
expenses of the company as well as results in the development if that particular area by
increasing employment there, this all result in the economic growth and development of that
city and its community.
Climate is an important factor affecting entire business of a travel and leisure industry. A
suitable climate condition supports favourable situations and results in boom in the industry
competition (Scott et al., 2019). Effective utilisation of climate’s natural resources and their
restore by sustainable development is an important task. Determination, evaluation and

prevention steps help to reduce environment risks and arrangement to become low-carbon
producing company is a step to balance the climate condition.
Managing relations with different social groups, non-profit organisations, public schools and
other socially active groups lead a tourism industry to participate in effective sustainable
development. Support to less developed or developing countries is possible by building
relationships with international organisations that are actively doing efforts to develop
different sectors (Waligo et al., 3013). Tourism industries are a wide area to make
partnerships in helping organisation to promote sustainable development. Intrepid Group is
already very sensitive about building partnerships with various NGOs, government helping
centres, private and public groups to make its best in the development of sustainable goals.
Innovative Strategies for Sustainable development of goals
Tourism and climate conditions are internally relevant with each other. Tourism sometimes
create positive impact on climate sometimes it cause harm to the climate conditions of a
country. A tourism company can apply various steps to maintain the changes occurred in
climate conditions. Climate conditions now days are facing many changes. These changes are
big threats to the tourism industries (Moyle et al., 2018). To avoid impact of these threats
Intrepid Goals can apply these steps. Intrepid Goals can apply attention policies to decrease
negative effect in climate change. These attention policies are of two kinds;
Adaptation strategy is a modal to maintain future threats to climate by making
coordination between society and their climate. It involves various steps in
identification of potential threats to climate and solution for reducing the risk to
climate conditions (Scott et al., 2012).

programmes on global level to create awareness about global warming and its side
effects on climate (Michailidou et al., 2016). Intrepid Goals has introduced its Carbon
off set policy, this policy is performing great efforts to protect the climate and to
reduce the climate changes on the earth.
Tourism is an important factor in communities and the cities around the world need to
develop cities and the communities become important and primary concern to make
development min the tourism industries. Cities and communities are foundation on that
tourism and its performance depends. Tourism industries can apply various strategies to
develop standard of cities and communities to make profitable development to those cities
and communities (Coccossis, 2016). Each community and city have different set of culture
and heritage Intrepid Goals can promote local amenities of a city or community at global
level to develop economic conditions of that particular city. Promoting local employment
results in reduction of unemployment and promoting local business give value to that culture
or art.
Partnerships are essential elements to develop a tourism industry. These partnerships make
industry able to reach audiences, create awareness, involve interest and develop the company
(Zapata & Hall, 2012). Intrepid Goals have adapted this policy very effectively by building
partnerships with various governments, non-government, profit organisations, non-profit
organisations, local helping centres, global development organisation and many other groups
to ensure its active participation. Intrepid Goals identify that travel and tourism industries
10% of the total employment world-wide. Intrepid Goals can invest its partnerships and
funding interest in empowerment of less developed communities by promoting their
traditional art of working. Intrepid Goals has introduced new modal of funding to the needy
organisation in the year 2018.

Evaluation of the selected strategies
Applications of various steps on SDGs need a perfect result and evaluation of the outcomes.
Tourism industry can set different levels of the outcomes on short and long term base. This
can help in setting dynamic strategies to follow the SDGs (Hák et al., 2016). Tourism
industry can set targets on each of the trips it operates this technique will be more result
oriented for tis managers. Establishment of Intrepid foundation was to facilitate their tourist
by giving something in return where they have performed their tourist activities.
The Intrepid Goals led a foundation to distribute its fund for the welfare and development of
the less developed areas. Intrepid Goals make efforts in achievements of its goals. In the year
of 2018 it distributed one million dollars to the partners of Intrepid Foundation and they
achieved their target to set basic standards for the measurement of job creation impact and
setting job right goals. A tourism industry can measure the results of the application of SDGs
strategies by evaluating its achievement in different sectors like financial growth, climate
change maintains, performance in corporate social responsibility, customer satisfaction,
changes in people living standards and by scaling their brand value and goodwill (Pérez et al.,
2017). Intrepid Goals measures its strategies by measuring performance levels of local
leaders, increment and change in interaction at local level, impact on customer and
environment and achievement of a unique experience after every single tour operation
(Bringezu & Bleischwitz, 2017).

Dear Mr XYZ
I am a second year student of James Cook University Cairns, Australia interested to face
interview for a full-time SDGs consultant position with Intrepid Goals. Studying in an
international environment I have high interaction with many people, communities and
culture. This interaction help me to deliver my ideas and thought successfully to different
individuals belonging to different culture and community. Tourism industry is best way to put
my knowledge into action to achieve the desired SDGs for a tourism industry. As in my
classes I learned about contribution of tourism industries in balancing climate changes,
develop living standards of people, and creating partnerships with organisation to raise the
economic, employment and sustainable development of cities and communities.

changes and flexible to adapt new challenges and project work. Building trust of the relevant
employees and potential consumer is very important aspect of every business as in tourism
effective bond of trust and faith with colleagues and consumer give long term benefits to the
industry. I have a great experience and interest in working to apply corporate social
responsibility of organisation effectively towards the community where an organisation
operates. Corporate social responsibility helps in making brand of the company and its
product. Tourism sector is very popular sector because it not only gives adventures to the
tourists, income to the tourism company but it also affects the local surroundings and the
whole environment. As a consultant I will be highly active in successful application of
companies CSR policies, sustainable development policies, each and every factor that can
reduce the threats to the environment harm and develop the availability of potential resources
in future.
Women empowerment is global requirement it needs more efforts and strategies to reduce
crimes against women like rape, sexual harassment, discrimination at work place and many
more. Women facing these problems not only in less developed countries infect in developed
countries also. Intrepid can introduce new product to empower women like trips having more
women safety concern, hiring of more and more female tourist guide will give rise to women
confident and will help to change stereotype about working of the women.
Global warming and impact of greenhouse gases is a serious issue for the environment,
climate and biosphere. An industry directly or indirectly affects the climate changes on a
broad level. Tourism industry is directly linked with climate and every step of tourism
industry affects the climate change. It is moral, obligatory and essential duty of a consultant
to develop strategies for reducing climate changing negative effects and protecting
environment from loss.

make organisation active on global development. Intrepid Goals have achieved B-
Corporation certificate in the year 2018, this success has given it a burden of responsibility to
maintain the dignity with providing effective services to its customers. I will try with my all
efforts to maintain the position with increasing goodwill, brand if the company as well as I
will try to introduce techniques to solve issue with in the arising time so it will not affect
further process of the company.

This report on the basis of all relevant facts and issues concludes that tourism industries are
most developing industries with facing most challenges in the world because they have to
maintain their profit with the balance of various depending factors. Intrepid Goals tries their
best to manage their business with performing SDGs. Besides sustainable goals Intrepid
Goals follow the policies of corporate social responsibilities to develop the local societies and
communities. Development of local communities is very profitable aspect because it attracts
global customers to the tradition and heritage of the place. Intrepid Goals can invest their
interest in maintaining the heritage, tradition, history and culture of a place losing its identity
because history attracts people on a broad level. History and culture give opportunities to
develop knowledge not only for adventure but to gain noble ideas about ones’ past. It is
concluded that tourism is the industry giving something back to the society where it operates.
And Intrepid Goals believes in rule of giving something back to the community is their prior
