Motivation
Motivation is considered as the driving force which encourages an individual to sustain
behaviour (Wood, et.al,2016). In my opinion motivation is a force that comes from internal
state of mind or from external conditions that help an individual to achieve its goals. I feel
that motivated people achieve their goals effectively and efficiently that benefits in attaining
organizational as well as personal goals. However, it can be said that motivation is a
purposeful activity and there is no motivation without any purpose. Some of motivational
goals for an individual can include social goals, achievement goals and future aspiration. In
my opinion, motivation is an important driver that helps an individual in achieving its
personal and professional goals. Moreover, a motivated individual or an employee
contributes more in an organization than a demotivated individual. I think that because of
motivation organization get many benefits for example high retention rate, increasing
performance of employees, higher involvement and engagement of employees in
organization activities.
Motivation can come from different forces for some people intrinsic factors play an important
role and for some extrinsic factor plays an important role (Harper et.al,2019). In my opinion,
intrinsic factors are some psychological factors that develop from inside a human body. I
think that some of intrinsic factors that drive motivation in an individual are biological factors
such as sleep, thirst, hunger and basic needs, curiosity, internal desires, psychological desires
and internal fears. In addition, intrinsic factors that drives motivation leads to internal
satisfaction such as peace of mind, happiness and desire to do more things. On the other side,
extrinsic motivation comes from external factors such as fame, money, praise and grades.
Moreover, there are different forms of extrinsic motivation that are used by management in
different situation by keeping in mind the level of motivation required to an individual. For

example, an employee is working at lower level; the driver of motivation for him could be
extrinsic factor such as monetary rewards as at the lower level he desires for fulfilling basic
necessities and the motivation can be given through offering him bonus or incentives. This
drives him to achieve more and contribute best to their ability. However, an individual at the
top level mainly stay self-motivated because of intrinsic factors such as self-efficacy, and
less monetary desire and perform with the motive of getting self-satisfaction rather than any
materialistic consequences.
Finally, motivation is an important factor that helps an individual to achieve its personal and
organizational goals. There are two different types of motivation that are extrinsic and
intrinsic motivation. Intrinsic motivation is behaviour of an individual that support internal
desire to do something (Derfler Rozin and Pitesa, 2020). On the other side, extrinsic
motivation is behaviour that drive individual to earn rewards and helps to stay motivated.
With that it is said that motivation is necessary to drive individual to be successful.
