This document presents a take-home final exam for Asian Pacific American Studies 1117, focusing on the overarching questions of American identity and equality in relation to Asian immigrants and Asian Americans. The exam requires students to analyze various discursive narratives, such as the "Sojourner vs. Settler" and "model minority myth," and their impact on the lives of Asian migrants. Students must also describe the role of women in shaping Asian American communities, using course readings and lectures. Furthermore, the exam involves discussing passages from novels to illustrate dilemmas faced by contemporary Asian Americans and analyzing the challenges and responses of Asian Pacific Americans in the post-1965 Immigration Act era. Students are given a choice to either reflect on the course through three key questions or revisit and critically interrogate their autobiographical essay from earlier in the semester, applying course concepts to their family's history. The exam emphasizes the use of course materials, including readings, lectures, presentations, and discussions, to support arguments and analyses.
