from poetry or narrative as it is basically written to be executed wherewith characterizes the view
of scene, personages doings and demenaunors, the noise that are going to be heard etc. This

the information of drama section, the chosen drama is The Ghost Bride. Along with this to define
the information of poetry section, the poetry that will consider is .
MAIN BODY
Task 1: Introduction to Drama
1 Selected drama is “The Ghost Bride
The general term Drama is understood to be a composition literary that is written to be
represented in theatres. For that reason authors include its solid rules without their application
drama cannot be flourishing in phase. At drama devoid the affirmation and explanation while all
the text surrender via dialogue and monologue. Every drama flow by a conflict that make a
particular language, more dynamic, more emotional and not usual. In modern era, drama arrived
to bring in scene the man, life and random language. Drama considers different characteristics
such as tragedy and comedy etc. There are several centuries that dominate the writing of drama
that is written in prose, which does not have solid plans anymore such as classis creations that
has a much wider range of the thematic and has an unlimited option to select characters (Yücesan
and Şendurur, 2018). After the technology revolution, from drama some new forms of art
appeared that are much more popular in all over the world like radiodrama, television drama and

(a) Analyse the plot of the drama text using either Aristotle’s or Freytag’s pyramid method
The plot of selected is based on or around the life of a young woman who gets a proposal
to become the ghost bride of the son of a very wealthy family, Even if, she is very reluctant
about it initially, this proposal establishes off a series of unfortunate happenings that eventually
force her to comply with it (Rahimipour, 2020). But the more she thrusts deep into the affairs of
the royal family, the more she identifies herself into a supernatural world where only she can
bring order. This drama is filling with climax, story and many more things.
In context of this particular drama, Freytag’s pyramid model can be consider as it is one of
the oldest dramatic structures and it developed by Gustav Freytag. a German playwright and
novelist. There are five elements in the plot diagram and they are as:
Introduction- This phase considers both the exposition and exciting force. Exposition is a
scene within no main modifications arises and the point is to introduce the key characters, time
period and tone etc. Freytag views the existing force as this the complication and other structures
call it the inciting incident. Within the particular drama, the introduction step also considers
information about the different character, time period and tone of the drama.
Rising movement- Under this, the major and chief action has been begun, the story makes
in action regarding the climax. Any characters who have not as of yet been informed should be
introduced here. For example, in specific drama there is a scene that a villain with scary looking
henchmen who captures the good guys and tortures them.
Climax- In this framework within the plot diagram climax occurs in the middle of the
story. The climax can be thought of like a reflection point. If things have gone well for the
protagonist, things begin developing. This phase is the point at which the story reflects and
afterward becomes the mirror story. But rather than just concentrates on the fate of the
protagonist, as per Freytag, the climax as the scene within the all energy of the leading role is
exposed, whether for good or ill, pathos or pride. In other words, the energy, values and themes
demonstrated in the first half are repealed and undone in the second half. This climax phase of
the drama is most significance as the action rises to this and action falls away from this (Dahami,
2019). For instance, in one scene of the this particular drama climax is happen related to a
murder related scene, when Er Lang travels to the middle realm to assist Lin, Tian Bai who is
Ching’s brother, tries to look for the individual who murdered his brother, He searches arsenic in
the room of one of his maids and feels that she was accountable for the murder. The maid also

declares that she killed him as he cruelly annoyed all the servants of the house and did not
behave in respected manner.
Falling action- In this phase, the things constant to either devolve for the protagonist or in
the case of a comedy, develop, leading up to the force of the final expectation which is a moment
before the disaster, when the writer projects the last catastrophe and ready the audience for it. It
is well acknowledged that the catastrophe must not come wholly like a surprise to the reader and
audience (Finnegan, 2018). For example, in “The Ghost Bride” drama, within a scene when Tian
Bai and Lin’s father discuss all about Lin’s unnatural death and the killer’s intentions behind it.
Bai’s fiancé, Isabella, accidently ends up blabbering a very intricate information of the place
where Lon was killed. Isabella undertakes her best to hide the truth but all of it just further
cements Tian Bai;s suspicion. Apart from that she had once cheated on Bai with his brother and
Ching had later utilised this to blackmail her.
Catastrophe or Denouement- Freytag mainly centred on tragedy not comedy and saw the
ending phase of a story as the moment of disaster within the key attribute is finally untied
through their own options, activities and energy. For example, within the one scene of The Ghost
Bride drama, every person who ends up in the Underworld appears to be influenced by a curse.
Even when Lin’s father was in the underworld, his veins were turning black cause of the curse
and Lin was expected to save him before the curse took over his whole body.
(b) Analyse the characters in the drama and explain evidence how the characters contribute to the
understanding of the plot
There are number of characters and all make and effective contribution to the understanding
the plot by playing their role in more beautiful manner. The main character of this entire drama is
a young woman Lin Lan who gets a proposal to become the ghost bride of a reputed family. Li
Lan is a very relatable character. She is no superhero or even a hero in the basic sense But she is
plucky, quick-witted and brave for the sake of others. This character assist the drama to take it
carry forward and well fitted in the each part of plot like introduction to climax to falling action
and catastrophe (Chaudhuri, 2018). Other characters like Tian Bai, Ching and Er Lang as well as
Isabella make a fabulous involvement in make the completion of this dramatic play in more
effective manner. Though, it is balanced out through the lovely execution from the lead and her
chemistry with some other main characters like the aforesaid nanny and a confident wonderful

guard. The main secrecy is determined rather awkwardly. It is not an investigative thriller to
mystery but its less about that and more about the character arc of Li Lan.
