1HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT
Answer to Question 1:
It can be mentioned that a human resource manager has to perform two fundamental
roles such as overseeing core department functions and managing employees or the entire
workforce. So, when these two functions are further sub-divided, the human resource
manager needs to be well-versed in human resource disciplines such as compensation,
benefits, training and development, employee relations and recruitment and selection. In
addition to this, human resource managers must have to perform strategic and functional
responsibilities for all sort of HR disciplines (Noe et al. 2015). However, the most important
responsibility of human resource manager is to address functional responsibilities and
manage employees.
In my opinion, HR professionals should be the voice for employees because HR
professional is responsible for hiring, selecting, training and assigning the individuals to
desired responsibilities. However, in most of cases, the same did not happen because
employees are most likely to ask to follow and report their team leaders or supervisors in the
respective department (Cascio 2015). If employees face any issues or they have any
opinions, employees themselves have to raise the voice on their own. Conversely, HR
managers at the initial stage of hiring communicate with the employees to have them placed
in work but later on employees are supposed to work under the respective leaders.
Answer to Question 2:
My key learning in the first half of the semester include human resource management,
people management, employee performance and leadership.
Application of the learning activities are significant because the knowledge I have
gained about human resource and employee performance will help me to understand in future
when I will be working with a company. For example, by working HR professional, I may

have to face the challenge of poor employee productivity and as HR professional I may
develop a training and development program for employees. In addition, I have to work on
the productivity strategy of employees are who are lagging in relation to performance.
Likewise, the knowledge would also help me to address my weak areas in HR management.
For example, when I will join a workplace as HR professional, I know that I have to
communicate with people from different cultural backgrounds. Thereby, when managing
diversity in the workplace, I will be requiring knowledge and understanding about human
resource. I may have to develop workforce development planning and such planning requires
intensive knowledge about people management.
Answer to question 3:
I must state the fact that during the first half of the semester, I had to face the
challenge of understanding the theories and models related to human resource. I believe that
human resource is a broad context in business management and even though I had prior
knowledge about human resource but I learnt in the semester was completely different and
thereby I took plenty of time in understanding the human resource management theories and
models. Moreover, the application of those models to real-life scenario as explained in the
lecture session was challenging. So, comprehension was challenging to me.
To enhance my comprehension skills in related to theories and models, I have to read
and write more theories and models to real-world situations. I have to read more case studies
related to human resource management. For example, there are several organizations who are
applying dynamic HR trends and I have to read the case studies those organization in relation
to HRM planning. I will attend seminars where experts and educationists talk about
contemporary HRM planning to derive knowledge about dynamic trends of HR management.

In addition to this, I will take part discourse where different opinions about HRM can be
explored.
