Introduction
Social Research
Social Research is the method that is used by researchers and social scientists for learning
about societies and people for designing services or products which cater for several
requirements of people. Several socio-economic groups which are from country’s different parts
think differently. Human behavior’s several aspects should be addressed for understanding their
feedback and thoughts about social world that could be achieved by use of social research.
Social Issue
There are several social issues, one of which is domestic violence. DV is global concern’s
issue that is characterized by history of quick change within institutional practice and policy
(Bloom & Tavrow, 2018). Domestic violence is the therapeutic framework that encourages the
legal professionals in closely working with the social scientists for developing systems that are
based upon empirical data. Effective response for domestic violence should be multi-sectorial.
Social research should address women’s immediate practical requirements in domestic violence.
This paper aims to demonstrate contribution of social research to knowledge of domestic
violence. The paper would also show contribution of research to new knowledge of domestic
violence and changes due to influence of research for domestic violence.

Importance of Social Research
Social research is knowledges essential source. This opens several new ways of wisdom
and knowledge. This provides proved, very useful, authentic an updated information for end
users.
Contribution of social research to domestic violence
View of domestic violence changes from every person and for every culture, however
this concept is understood very poorly. It is as in maximum countries, relation among wife and
husband is not considered equally, however one where wife should submit her to husband. It is
codified within laws of few countries. For instance, in Yemen, it is stated by marriage
regulations that husband must be obeyed by his wife and wife cannot leave the home without
permission of her husband (Johnson, 2016). The violent act against wife is not considered often a
form for abuse by the society, however are considered in getting provoked by wife’s behavior,
which would be seen as guilty. While wives’ beatings are response for inappropriate behaviors,
within several places few extreme acts are approved like honor killings by society’s high section.
In the conservative cultures, dressing of wife in deemed modest could suffer some serious
violence from hands of husband and relatives (Carlson, et al., 2019).
Contemporary Research
In few countries, considerable controversy is there about domestic violence’s nature with
few authorities suggesting men and women are likely in perpetrating serial violence to their
partners. Global issue is violence of one of the men against women within intimate relationships.
The domestic violence to women had ignoble and long history.

One of difficulties to deal with domestic violence’s issue is men within societies
of male dominated don’t understand inflicting violence to wives is against law. In such societies,
husband does not understand that there is no right for him to beat his wife. In few developing
countries, the practices which subjugate as well as harm women like wife beating, cutting or
mutilation of female genital, dowry deaths and killing in honor’s name are condoned to be part
of natural things (Choudhry & Herring, 2017). Population’s strong view in specific societies that
thee reconciliation could be much more ideal when compared with punishment. Victim baling
also is prevalent in several societies, which includes western countries. Few believed that
women’s provocative behavior was cause for violence to them.
Changes in domestic violence influenced by research
There is lack of legislation in where criminalizes the domestic violence. The legislation
that prevents consensual behaviors might hinder progress with respect to reduce incidence of
domestic violence. In 21st century, few countries are disregarding marital rape as well as child
marriage while other countries are outlawing sexual activity of same sex, sex outside of marriage
and abortion. Violence’s one of most known forms against women is performed by male partner
or husband. This type of violence is ignored as cultural norms as well as legal systems often
don’t treat this as crime, however rather as private matter of family or normal part in life.
Adultery’s criminalization is cited as to incite violence against the women, as such prohibitions
are meant often, in practice or in law, for controlling behavior of women and not behavior of
men (Pearlman, et al., 2016). Few argue that violence inside family is placed out of international
human rights’ conceptual framework. However, under the international standards and rules, there

Use of theory for unpacking domestic violence
It takes place when there is physical force’s use against women in way which endangers
or injures women. Physical battering or assault is crime, whether this takes place outside or
inside family. Police have power as well as authority in protecting women from the physical
violence. Sexual abuse is a situation where women are forced in participating in unwanted sexual
activity (Childress, Gioia & Campbell, 2018). Forced sex by intimate partner or by spouse is act
of domestic violence or aggression. Women who are abused by their partners sexually or
physically are at higher risk to be killed or seriously injured.
Emotional abuse
Not every relationship has physical violence. Several people suffer due to emotional
abuse that is quite destructive as well. Though emotional abuse often is overlooked even by
person who is experiencing it. Emotional abuse’s aim is chipping away feelings of independence
as well as self-worth. Emotional abuse could be verbal abuse like blaming, name calling,
shaming, controlling behavior, intimidation and isolation (Briggs, 2018). Those who
psychologically or emotionally abuse throw often threats for physical violence. Emotional
abuse’s scars are quite real as well as run deep. The emotional abuse could be damaging like
physical abuse.

Religion
Controversy is there regarding religion’s influence over domestic violence. Islam,
Christianity and Judaism traditionally have supported households that are dominated by men and
sanctioned violence socially against women is persistent. Catholic Church is criticized to oppose
divorce and hence trapping violence’s victims in the abusive marriages. Views on religion’s
influence differ over domestic violence (Roberts & Price, 2019). Few people think that there is
connection of Islam to violence for women, especially in honor killings’ form. Political and
public reveal debating relation among violence, immigration and Islam against women seems
controversial in several Western countries.
Local traditions and custom are responsible often to maintain specific forms of domestic
violence. These traditions and customers consist of preference of son, which could lead in abuse
as well as neglecting girls by the disappointed members of the family. Forced and child
marriages, dowry and caste system that stigmatizes untouchables and lower castes, which leads
in discrimination as well as restricted opportunities for females, making them much more
vulnerable for being abused (Woodlock, 2017). Strict dress codes to women might be enforced
by violence by the members of the family. There is progress in this area to address customary
practices which endanger women through laws that are enacted within many countries.
Forced marriage is where the participants are forced to marry without free consent. In
several countries, this is difficult often in drawing line between consensual and forced marriage.
Idea of girl choosing her future husband and going against her family’s wishes is not accepted
socially. It is not required in using violence or threats in forcing for marriage, future bride would
submit as no choice is there for her. In child marriage, customs of bride price and dowry
contribute in this incident. Child marriage is one kind of marriage where the parties are of age 18

or below. Child and forced marriages are related to domestic violence’s high rate (Anderberg, et
al., 2016). Such marriages are connected to violence with respect to spousal violence that is
perpetrated in marriage as well as in regard of violence that is related to traditions and customs
of such marriage.
Conclusion
Domestic violence is a kind of behavior having purpose to gain control as well as power
over spouse partner. Domestic violence takes place among people. Domestic violence could be
of several types, which includes sexual, physical and emotional abuse. Domestic violence could
occur in any kind of relationships. Domestic violence’s victims are the overwhelming women as
well as women who tend in experiencing much severe violence. Domestic violence often is
viewed as justified in few countries, especially in suspected or actual infidelity on part of
woman. It is among most underreported crime all over the world for both women and men.
