INTRODUCTION
Functional Areas refers to those areas where a business is able to ensure that it is able to
function properly in the right manner (Ackah, 2019). Therefore it becomes important for the
businesses to be able to make sure that they are able to focus on them to achieve a higher level of
efficiency and effectiveness. This report is based on IOM Electronics Ltd. It is a company which
deals in Electronics. In this assignment, there will be specific focus on different types of
functional areas of the business. Additionally, analysis on types of skills needed by employees to
be able to work effectively in these areas will be discussed as a part of this project.
MAIN BODY

There are various types of functional areas which are present within a business
organisation (Han and et.al., 2016). The presence of these particular areas helps in ensuring that
a business is able to function in the right manner effectively and efficiently. In the context of

functional areas of business-
Production- This is a department in which a specific focus is made on the producing of

performance of employees. In the selected organisation, this skill enhance the personality

Innovation- This concern with coming up with the new ideas and suggestion in the
company and need to be innovative in nature and that leads to growth and success in the

they always looking for the new ideas and technology so that they can face the tough
competition in the market and enable them to perform much better in the market. In the
context of selected organisation, this innovation skills help the firm to come up with
technology and ideas through certain suggestions.
Decision making- This is important skills that used in many organisation and this will
help in managing the company circumstances and dynamic situation by employees
(Sanchez-Serra, 2016). This soft skills become necessary in today's competitive
environment where they need to fulfil the requirements of company and need to be
managed effectively. In the context of selected company, this skills will help in
improving the efficiency in the management and also improve the growth of employees.
Through this skill, they able to take appropriate decision regarding the any situation on
their own without any help from their leader in the times of emergency.
