INTRODUCTION
The following report will be discussing the business management scenario which is
required by John who has acquired a firm named IOM Electronics LTD. It is one of the leader
enterprise in their sector. The company operates with the employee base of 200 people working
in different departments in 2 different locations i.e. Manchester and Liverpool. The enterprise is
expanded in these two location and caters the customer with electronic commodities. Although,
John have little experience of market but it is not efficient for running an enterprise of this
particular size. The employees also need sufficient skills and knowledge so that the organization
can deliver the qualitative response to its customer's needs. The report will be highlighting the
functional areas of the enterprise and the skills needed by the workforce of different departments.
MAIN BODY
Business organization
The term business organization refers to the place or a infrastructural body which deals in
different products and service for gaining profits and achieve higher levels of success. IOM is an
enterprise which caters their customers with different products and services in the electronic
industry. The organization aims for the profit by providing distinct goods and after sales service
to its customer.
Functional areas of business.
Every business organization consists of different departments which work inter relatively
for the overall growth of the organization. This overall productivity in the organization can help
them to sideline the competitors and gain unexpected profits in their working tenure. In IOM
these departments are human resource management, sales department, marketing department,
equipment and technological department, finance department, operations department and R&D
team. Roles and responsibilities of these departments and its contribution in the overall
upliftment of the organization is discussed below:

The human resource department is the functional area of the business which focuses on

revenue that is being generated by selling the products or service (Jakobsen, Lauvås and
Steinmo, 2019). This department in IOM is responsible for achieving the sales target that is
being determined by the management. The enterprise offers their customers a range of electronic
products and after sales services too which is managed by this department.
Operations department
The operation department is responsible for carrying out various activities told by the
management. In the firm the responsibilities of operations department include implementing the
plans developed by the sales department in the respective way that is being needed by the sales
team. Department also focuses on the services provided after the sales for meeting the
expectations of the customers by providing them with effective services.
Finance department
Cash flow in the firm acts as a fuel in running the business machinery effectively and
efficiently in both the long and short term (Lyutov, Uygun and Hütt, 2019). Finance department
in the firm is responsible for the respective activity of cash inflow and outflow. Arrangement and
organization of the funds is managed by finance team. This team allocates funds to different
department and maintains the accounts records.
Marketing department
The awareness for the brand and its product or service is flourished by the team of
marketing which focuses on reaching the customer knowledge through different techniques. This
team in IOM is responsible for marketing the electronic products of the brand through different
techniques such as advertising, branding, social media marketing etc. This department in the
organization plays a vital role in boosting the sales of the firm.
Equipments and technological department
There is an increasing use of different technology in the sector for the improvement of
