INTRODUCTION
Business organisation are formed and operated with a sole purpose of providing products
and services to the customer which best matches their needs and wants. Organisations conduct a
detailed research on type of offerings they are going to introduce to the public. Business run and
operate with an objective of continuous growth and development. In order to attain its objective
large business forms a effective organisational structure by dividing the various functions of
business into a different department on the basis of their nature and functionality(Wolniak,
2020). These functions are Production, Marketing, Human Resource and Finance. With proper
coordination among these functional areas organisation design and develop the activities of each
department directed towards the achievement of organisational goal. IOM electronic limited is a
regional; well established and recognised company with a work force of around 200 employees
with its operations in Manchester and Liverpool. This report covers different functions of a
business organisation along with the set of skills required in each of these functional areas.
MAIN BODY
Describe the various functional areas in business organisation
Organisations with a large area of operation and large scale of production divides the
activities of an organisation into different groups which are Production, Human Resource,
Marketing and Finance. The activities of these departments are clubbed together and are oriented
towards the achievement of organisational objective. These departments are governed by a
specialists in their fields of operations and hire the workforce according the skills and knowledge
required to work in a respective department. The functions in business organisations are defined
below :-
Production Department :- Production management in a business organisation plays a
signifiant role as this department is concerned with the conversion of raw inputs into a finished
products, further which is used by consumers. IOM electronics production management involves
planning, organising, directing and controlling the production activity in such a way that the
conversion of raw materials into the finished products are done within a budget of a company,
with the desired quality and free from defects(Wang and Wang, 2020). Production management
involves a varied functions which are :

Product design and development : This factor is concerned with planning and
developing a electronic products that matches the need and demands of customer.
Production location and layout : This factors is essential as availability of raw material
or work force will determine the location site of a production plant.
Machinery and infrastructure : In order to carry out a production process company
need a updated systems and machinery to develop a electronic products.
Purchase and storage of raw material : Effective planning of acquiring a raw material
and work force on the basis of level of production is an important factor to consider.
Human Resource Department : Human Resource Management of IOM electronics
deals in managing the effective workforce to execute a day to day operations(Busłowska, 2020).
Human resource is considered as important asset of any business organisation. Success and
growth of IOM electronics relies on the productivity of its human resource, i.e. “employees”.
Human resource management of the company is responsible for acquiring a right talent with
required, skills, knowledge and experience to perform a work in each functional areas. This
ensures that the efforts of each employees are directed in attainment of organisational goals and
objective. Apart from recruiting and selecting a right candidate, the role of IOM electronics's
HRM is to provide fair and adequate remuneration to their employees, training and development
to each individual who are lacking in few skills and designing performance appraisal programme
for their employees recognition.
Marketing Department : Marketing Management is concerned with looking out for a
best possible opportunities and developing strategic plan to effectively execute and implement it.
Marketing management in IOM electronics is concerned with designing of a product according
to the identified needs, decide a price of product considering affordability and competitiveness of
a company, deciding a channel of distribution and how effectively the message regarding a
products and services should be conveyed so as to increase the sales of IOM electronics. IOM
also focus on designing and development of captivating marketing campaigns so to spread a
awareness of their electronic items to increase the customer base. Implementation of effective
marketing and promotional activities will determine the overall success and profitability of a
company(Stawasz, 2020). As the technological sector is rapidly increasing, IOM electronics
should increase their presence over internet. The work of marketing doesn't get over with the

closing of sales, instead the work of marketing management starts as with continuous follow-ups
and feedback IOM electronic aims at converting a existing customer into a loyal customer.
Finance Department :- The role of finance department within IOM electronics is to
manage the total cash inflows and outflows in an effective way so that the business's day to day
operation wont get disturb. Cash is considered as a lifeblood of each and eveny business without
which the no business will survive for a longer period of time(Qian and et. al., 2020). Therefore
it is imperative for finance department to effectively manage the funds of a company so as to
maintain a strong financial position in a market. Finance management allocate the funds to each
department of IOM electronics so as to meet the needs of these department and reallocate the
remaining funds so as to generate more return and profit for the company. The management
anticipate the future requirements of cash and manage them with the companies future inflows
and outflows. If there is any deficiency in a financial statement, financial department suggests
IOM electronic to opt for a long term or short term borrowings.
Describe the type of skills needed by employees to be able to work effectively in these functional
areas
Skills needed by employees in Production department :
Manufacturing process of electronics goods involves a wide range of activities ranging
from acquiring raw materials to conversion. Employees must be flexible and able to work
in a distinct activities.
Employees must have the ability to work in a team at this stage as it is initial stage and
rest of other activities rely on the performance of production department.
Innovation and creativity are essential in developing a new products which matches a
customer needs and demands.
Employees within IOM electronics must be capable of identifying the problem and
provide a best solution(Yan and et. al., 2020).
Skills needed by employees in Human resource departments
Strong and good communication skills is essential for each employees to communicate
with the team member in a effective way, without any misunderstanding.
Employees must be capable of managing conflict among the team members. After
considering the problem and listening to each party employee must provide a unbiased
solution.

Strong work ethics of a employee creates a positive work environment in IOM
electronics. With a strong ethics employees are honest, discrete, and loyal to the company
and colleagues.
Decision making is another important skill that an employee must posses in a HR
department. Employees with a good decision power are confident and motivate which
gives them a sense of self-improvement (Busłowska, 2020).
Skills needed by employees in marketing department
Addressing to the public is a important factor in a marketing department. As the
marketing campaigns are designed and directed for a market audience, therefore it is
imperative for employees to have a public speaking trait.
Creativity is a another skill which an employee must have in marketing department.
Creativity helps in developing a new and innovative products along with designing
advertisement for a products and services.
Technology plays a crucial role in a marketing campaign. Employees must be capable of
analysing and measuring the performance of a marketing campaign. Developing a
website, customer portals, creating a page on a social media are medium to increase the
customer interaction with IOM electronics.
Skills needed by employees in finance department
Perseverance is an important skill that an employee of financial department must posses.
In adversity of financial problems, it the account manager who finds a suitable solution
for IOM electronics to deal with these problems(Wang and et. al., 2020).
Flexibilities is another important skills that helps the financial department to deal with the
difficult and unforeseen situations. Sometimes in day to day operations, unplanned
expenses occurs which could be challenging task if there is no sufficient fund available.
CONCLUSION
From the above state report it has been analysed that IOM electronic have divide the
companies activities into four departments which are : Production, Marketing, Human resource
and Finance. The activities of these departments within IOM electronics are coordinated and
directed towards the achievement of organisational structure. The department within the IOM
electronics hire the work force on the basis of the skills and knowledge required to execute their
task. With the clear defined roles and responsibilities and single line of authority employees
