IOT IN SMART CITY
Milestone 4
Executive Summary
The foremost determination of this unit of the milestone is to focus on the use of IoT in smart
cities. This unit of the assignment will be having an introduction related to the milestone 2 of
this assignment, literature review based upon the future and current work in the application of
IoT in smart cities. The report will also be focusing a specific solution of the identified
problems with proper justification. The justifications will be supported with tables and
figures. The report will conclude with a strong statement which will be helping the readers of
the document to have a perception about the application of IoT in smart cities.
Introduction
The prime determination of this report is to focus on the challenges of the IoT enabled
devices which are used in the smart cities. The issues are related to the efficiency and
productivity of the IoT enabled devices which deals with confidential data across business
organization. The other problems was the human intervention in the IoT devices which
questions the reliability and trustworthiness of the different systems such as transportation
system. The security and privacy are the other significant challenges associated with the
technology in a smart city.
Methodology
There are different methodologies which can be effectively used in the smart cities to
minimise the problems associated with the smart devices. According to Turber et al.(2014),
the applications should be subjected to major testing schedules before they are incorporated
by the citizens. As stated by Riggins& Wamba(2015), the production phase of the smart
devices should be categorised into different phases which will minimise the productions

errors and enhance reliability and trustworthiness. According to Gubbi et al.(2015), the
privacy and security issues of the IoT enabled technologies can be solved by using the cloud
service providers rather than conventional legacy systems. As discussed by Ehret &
Wirtz(2017), the productivity of the smart devices can be maintained in the smart cities with
the help of the reorganization of the activities in the working environment.

Conclusion
From the above report, it can be determined that the application of IoT can hugely
impact any smart city. The enhanced specifications of the IoT enabled system can be
effectively used by the citizens of the smart cities in their daily activities. The challenges
related to this technology can also be effectively mitigated with the help of effective planning
before the devices are incorporated in an environment. The figures and tables used in the
report are used to understand the world-wide acceptance of IoT in smart cities all around the
world.
