Introduction
This is a progress report for the research which is being made in order to present the research
proposal as well as the literature review on the selected topic. The topic chosen for the purpose
of making the research is IoT devices as well as their application. This report is prepared in order
to deeply understand the concept of the Internet of Things and its usage in the business world.
The current world is rapidly converting into the technological world and there is being made the
continuous use of the information technologies and communication within every part of the
businesses. IoT is the emerging concept of the technical world. This report will be discussing the
complete proposal of the research to be made. There will be included the project description,
research objectives, research aims, methodologies to be used, timelines of making the research as
well as the complete literature review on the use as well as the importance of the Internet of
Things. The internet of things is considered as the network of the physical devices which are
connected to each other in order to exchange the data as well as the details through the actuators
as well as the sensors.

Project Description
The project selected in this research is the Importance of the Internet of Things and its
application within the organizations. This world is continuously converting into the technological
world and it has become very necessary for all the businesses to use the best-updated
technologies in the operations of the businesses (Al-Fuqaha et al. 2015). The Internet of Things
generally provides interaction among the physical as well as the digital worlds. The main vision
of the Internet of Things is to utilize smart technologies in order to connect the things anytime at
any place and for anything. This project is regarding identifying the importance of the Internet of
Things technology and how the businesses, as well as other domains, are making the effective
use and application of the Internet of Things in the daily life (Botta et al. 2016). The internet of
Things covers the different numbers of the protocols, applications as well as the domains. There
will be an advanced communication and interaction between the devices with better services as
well as the connectivity. These embedded devices can provide advanced automation inthe each
and every area which is ranging from the homes to the cities. This project will bring the focus on
the use of these Internet of Things technologies in the businesses, homes as well as the cities
(Islam et al. 2015).

This research is aimed towards identifying and meaning, importance as well as the application of
the Internet of Things in the organizational context.
Research Objectives
Following are the objectives associated with the research to be conducted:
 To understand the concept of the Internet of Things in this rapidly changing technical
world.
 To be able to analyze the Importance of the Internet of Things technology within each
and every domain.
 To carry out research on the application of the IoT in the businesses, homes as well as the
cities.
 To identify the potential risks as well as the challenges in using the Internet of Things.

Following are the research question framed for this research which will be explored:
 What is the Internet of Things?
 What are the key aspects of the Internet of Things?
 How the Internet of Things is being applied in different domains?
 What are the key challenges as well as the risks of using the Internet of Things within the
Businesses?
 What values are created in the businesses by using the Internet of Things?

Research Methodology
Qualitative as well as the quantitative are two different but essential approaches of collecting the
data which can be used for the purpose of execution of the research. The qualitative research is
the methodology which is effectively used in such kinds of research topics which are completely
based on the views, perceptions, human behaviors as well as the suggestions (Razzaque et al.
2016). There is included non-numerical information in order to get the research outcomes on the
basis of the research topic. On the other hand, the quantitative research approach is appropriate
to use is such researches where there is need of the numerical data as well as the statistical
information.
