Title
Security and Privacy related issues in IoT (Internet of Things)
Abstract
This paper includes a discussion about the security and privacy issues that have been rising in the
segment of the Internet of things. IoT is a system of interrelated technologies like computers, digital
machines, people and objects that have unique identifiers (UID) by which they can be identified. IoT
has the ability to transfer the data without direct connection with the computer. These systems are
nowadays very essential to accumulate the data in a large amount over their servers or connections
as the data on network is increasing day by day with the increasing use of network associated
devices, but still as these systems cannot be physically protected by some specific protocol, these
have some high chances of getting hacked, information leak, and issues like disruption, breach or
other issues.
Systems related to the Internet of things are very useful but also very easy to get interrupted by any
of the security or privacy concern that arises through any medium in its way. These concerns are
like, heterogeneity of new devices, highly dynamic structure of IoT, unprotected environment where
the use of the default passwords for newly manufactured devices is common, unlimited big data
present on the network makes the inability of change in that data and scalability gets affected as
chances of reprocessing the data decreases and scaling option cannot be performed, also some data
integration, accessibility and visualization concern that appears are discussed within this report.
As the internet of things is a concept that has been highly getting affected by the adding new devices
to the network and people are using uploading and downloading a million bytes of data daily, this is
becoming a concern to think about and also to get some knowledge and learning about it will
increase awareness and use of IoT.
