AI Summary
This report explores the application of the Internet of Things (IoT) in smart cities, focusing on its potential to improve the quality of life for residents and enhance the efficiency of city services and operations. It highlights the importance of creating a mobile portal for service delivery and improved security within a smart city framework. Various IoT devices, such as RFID, sensors, and cameras, are discussed in the context of different domains like safety, building management, healthcare, governance, and environmental monitoring. The report emphasizes the need for careful planning and impact assessment when implementing IoT devices in various city areas. It delves into specific smart city solutions aimed at reducing citizen effort, improving security, and optimizing resource management through a centralized command control center. The benefits of IoT implementation include crime reduction via surveillance, traffic congestion management, reduced fuel consumption and pollution, and cost savings in parking and lighting maintenance. INTERNET OF THINGS
Abstract
Internet of things finds its application in different fields for exchanging data and creation new
opportunities for integrating with the physical environment. The IoT can be applied in smart
city for the improvement of the quality of life of the people living in the city and increase the
efficiency of the service and operation. The IoT can be used for taking better decision and
meeting the future and the current needs off the people living in the city. For the development
of the Smart city framework it is important to create a mobile portal that can be used for
providing different service to the user and improve the security. There are different types of
IoT devices such as RFID, Sensors, cameras, etc. used in different domains such as safety,
building, healthcare, governance, and environment. The development of the smart city
framework needs planning and identification of the planning for the finding the impact of the
application of the IoT device in different areas of the city. There are different smart city
solution that can be used for reducing the efforts of the people living in the city. The use of
the smart city solution are discussed in the report. There is a need to use a command control
centre for the management of all the smart city solution from a central point. There are
several benefits for the application of IoT and helps in better management of the city using
the surveillance for the reduction of crime. The traffic signals can be used for the reduction of
the congestion and management of the emergency service. It also helps in less consumption
of the fuel and thus less pollution. The use of the IoT in the parking lot and lightning can also
help in reducing the maintenance and open new opportunity for reduction of the cost and
generate revenue for the city. The city service can be used for increasing the efficiency of the
response and the delivery system and improvement of the mobility of the personnel living in
the city. Different smart projects can be implemented for reducing the effort of the peoples
and improve the security and interoperability of the system.
