AI Summary
This assignment details three completed projects – an undergraduate thesis, a philosophy short-film, and writing math questions for a college entrance test reviewer – analyzed through the IPEMC (Initiation, Planning and Design, Executing, Monitoring and Controlling, Closing) framework. Each project description, limited to 150 words, outlines the application of each process group. The undergraduate thesis involved correcting an error in a published paper, the short-film project highlighted the effects of depression, and the math questions were created for a college entrance test reviewer. The analysis identifies how each phase of the IPEMC framework was applied to each project, providing a practical demonstration of project management principles. This document is designed to offer insights into practical project management applications.

Project Management Assignment (Process Groups):
Case 1: Undergraduate Thesis
The thesis is a requirement for my undergraduate degree. My advisor proposed some possible
thesis topics related to Discrete Mathematics. Among the publications that I studied, I was
fascinated by one paper that highlights an interesting identity theorem. While reading this
proof, I noticed that it contains an error and decided to write a correction for it. After solving
for the missing formula in the whole mess, I compiled all of my findings into a paper. I showed
my progress to my advisor and after careful deliberation, I gave finished copies of my write-up
to the Defense Committee for evaluation. In the end, my advisor emailed both the author of the
article and the Discrete Mathematics Journal regarding the results of my study in the hopes of
them re-publishing the article with my corrected and improved version of the proof.
Case 2: Philosophy Short-Film Project
Our Philosophy professor asked us to create a short film highlighting the effects of depression
on college students. Each of the five team members volunteered to do a specific task:
scriptwriter, actor, cinematographer, director, film editor. We chose the ideal time (day,
afternoon or night) to film each scene based on the required ambience (weather forecast
considered) and the availability of each member. One team member was an amateur
photographer and with his consent, we all decided to use his professional camera to save the
cost of production. As soon as the script was finalized, we shot each of the acts at different
parts of the school campus. After recording and filming each scene successfully, the editor
compiled all the video sequences and clips into a final ten-minute video. Special effects and
subtitles were added. The completed file was placed in a flash drive and submitted to the
Professor.
Case 3: Writing Math Questions for a College Entrance Test Reviewer
The manager of the Cram School I worked for asked me to create new Math questions which
can potentially be included in the 2018 College Entrance Test reviewer. For each subject area,
I thought about the topics which will likely be included in the actual exam. I carefully examined
the 2017 reviewer and took important observations about the structure of the whole reviewer,
the formulation of the questions (including appropriate wording) and distribution pattern
(numbering) of each section. I made several questions ranging from average to difficult for each
subject area. All of them were tricky multiple-choice questions with the aim of stimulating the
thinking capability of our students. I compiled all of the new questions and included an answer
key in the final document. I submitted them to the Math Committee of our Cram School for
evaluation, filtering and approval.

Questions (to the Proofreader):
Can all the 3 cases I wrote be considered as projects?
If yes, then for each case, can you please help me identify which parts belong to the 5
corresponding Process Groups? (Please use colors to mark each Process Group: red for
initiation, blue for planning, yellow for executing, green for monitoring, and pink for
closing)
If for each case, I failed to include one Process Group, kindly correct me on this so that I
can change the write-up.
The word count for Case 1 exceeded the limit (171/150). Can you please help me
remove some unnecessary information? [In this case, I have no idea which info is
unnecessary. I just wrote all the steps I did to complete the project (start-end)].
Thank you.
