Networking For A IPR Law Firm
Introduction
The current assignment illustrates the present situation of IPR law firm and the reasons
behind the needs of the private network in this law firm. Further, the assignment elaborates the
security requirement for the information of the IPR law firm. In addition, this assignment
illustrates the requirement of the equipment needed in order to implement the new private
network in this IPR law firm. Along with this in the assignment proposed design of the network
with a complete explanation of this design is specified in brief.
1. Analysis of the case of IPR law firm and the set of the requirement of network solution
According to the given case scenario previously the IPR firm had only one office with 10
attorneys, 7 support staff, and 1 receptionist. Thus as per this situation, the need for a
telecommunication network was not needed. Recently IPR firm has merged with another law
firm and thus this law firm now has 3 offices in different parts of the city. Due to this reason the
law firm now needs a telecommunication network in order to transfer legal documents from one
office to another office. On the other hand, another reason behind the requirement of the
telecommunication network of IPR firm is transferring its client data. Further due to the distant
location of the branch office IPR law firm needs WAN connection in order to establish an
effective link between these offices (Diebold & Yılmaz, 2014). In order to maintain the privacy
of the network, network jammer and ethical hacker along with a server maintenance room must
be required.

2. Identification of the information that is to be protected and related security
requirements
The information of the clients of IPR law firm must be saved in a secured database. This
is because this firm provides its clients legal solution and any losses in the data can hamper the
normalcy of the work. Moreover, in order to maintain the secrecy of the client information, these
data must be stored in a secured database. On the other hand, IPR firm also needs security for the
data related to its internal operation regarding its client case. In addition to this IPR must secure
the data related to the application and the documentation of the patents. In order to maintain the
security of the data, IPR firm needs to maintain a server room and must employ some qualified
ethical hacker to prevent the data hack from its database (Lu et al. 2015). Moreover IPR firm in
order to maintain the security of its data must install latest technology based computers and
storage devices. On the other hand, IPR law firm must use the private network in order to
maintain the security of the data (Shu et al. 2016). This can help the law firm to maintain the
security normalcy of the data of its customers and internal process. On the other hand, IPR law
firm in order to prevent the illegal interface must use network jammer in its office territory
(Ilyas, 2017). In order to maintain the protection of the secret data of the client, this will be
beneficial and will add extra features to the customer service of the IPR firm.
3. Identification of the types of networks, components, devices and equipment that would
be involved in meeting the needs of the stationary offices and the mobile attorneys
In order to install a telecommunication network for the link of the offices, IPR law firm must
use WAN for interlinking of its offices (Wilamowski & Irwin, 2016). Further, in this network,
IPR law firm must use the hybrid topology along with the implementation of the latest

technology based equipment. In order to install effective WAN latest technology based ATM
must be installed. Along with this Frame Relay and repeater must be used in order to increase the
strength of the network (Diebold & Yılmaz, 2014). Installation of frame relay also will help to
increase the speed of the communication channel by adding the advantage of packet switching
methodology. It also will help to maintain the VPN network in between the offices of IPR firm.
On the other hand, the implementation of the SONNET in the backbone of the WAN network
can help the IPR firm in order to maintain high-speed data transfer in between the offices of the
IPR firm (Lu et al. 2015). On the other hand, the network that the IPR firm must use in order to
maintain an effective link between the offices must be based on the hybrid topology. For the
internal use of a branch office bus topology will be the best solution and for the overall
connection star topology will be preferable. In this case Network Bridge will help the IPR firm in
order to maintain an effective link between different topologies and to maintain the normalcy of
the hybrid connection (Scholz, Emmerich & Carle, 2017). In order to maintain the high speed of
network channel, IPR law firm must use the latest technology based modem like ITU V2.21.
This will help the IPR law firm to involve the security shift keying in the telecommunication
network. Frequency shift keying due to its much-secured nature will be able to implement better
security feature in the IPR law firm network (Shu et al. 2016). (Refer to Appendix 1)
4. Network design diagram that clearly shows an appropriate network configuration to
meet the requirements, with components, properly labeled
In order to maintain an effective network for the link between the offices, IPR law firm
must use ISO/OSI based network protocol. This protocol can increase the efficiency of the
telecommunication network of the IPR law firm this is because this protocol involves 7 distinct
layers (Viswanathan, 2017). Moreover in order to make the internal connection of the network

IPR law firm must use optical fiber based high speed network. This will help IPR law firm to
maintain the high speed which will be helpful for maintenance of the huge data of the client of
IPR law firm. On the other hand IPR law firm must use wireless connection for the interlinking
of the branch offices (Wan et al. 2014). Further IPR law firm must maintain packet switched
network in order to maintain the security of the network. On the other contrary, IPR law firm
must use Linux or MAC based operating system in order to introduce more security features in
the communication network of the firm. Along with this hybrid connection of network must be
used by IPR law firm in order to maintain better and effective orientation of the network (Wide
Area Network Definition, 2018).
5. Explanation of the benefits of the proposed network solution
Implementation of a VPN based PSTN in the telecommunication network can increase
the security features of the IPR law firm. This can further help the law firm to maintain huge
database in a sequential manner (LAN/WAN Management Integration Using ATM CNM
Interface, 2018). On the other hand the WAN connection will help the IPR law firm to maintain
high speed network channel between the offices. Moreover the latest technology based frame
relay and repeater will help the company to increase the strength of the network and will help
IPR law firm to maintain a high performance network channel for its office use (Ilyas, 2017). In
addition to this the implementation of the ISO/OSI based network protocol in the
telecommunication network will help the IPR law firm to maintain the sequential and effective
network in between the offices. These all benefits of high-speed WAN network will further help
IPR law firm to maintain the normalcy of the patent database and the database related to its client
information (Wilamowski & Irwin, 2016). (Refer to Appendix 2)

6. Conclusion
Thus from this assignment it can be concluded that presently IPR law firm needs to
implement high speed telecommunication network in order to make the interlink between its 3
offices. It also can be concluded from the assignment that in order to maintain the security
features and the database of the IPR law firm it must implement high speed WAN connection for
interlinking its offices.
