AI Summary
This technology report analyzes the challenges and advantages associated with the transition from IPv4 to IPv6. It highlights key issues such as lack of knowledge among IT specialists, transition costs, compatibility problems with legacy systems, and the reluctance of businesses to adopt IPv6. The report emphasizes the potential consequences of delaying the transition, including communication limitations and increased technical complexities. It discusses the benefits of IPv6, such as improved services and network security, and suggests tools like dual-stack and IPv6 translation to facilitate the change. The report concludes by emphasizing the necessity of transitioning to IPv6 to ensure safe and high-quality services for end-users, despite the challenges involved.

TECHNOLOGY REPORT 2
INTRODUCTION
The internet customers have been using IPv4 which has been use for several years and is
predicted to be used in many years to come. Before we debate on implementation ratio of the
IPv6 system, there is urgent need to talk about the problems involved in moving from the IPv4
to IPv6. IPv6 is central to safeguarding the expansion of the internet, but the global deployment
of the protocol raises its own security hitches. The global implementation of IPv6 address is
considered as of the main problem experienced on the internet these days. IPv6 adoption has its
own problems. Most security cases are generated by human miscalculation, either through
programming mistake or as a misconfiguration. In this sense, IPv6 is no different to IPv4. The
real worry is the lack of training and experience for those information technology specialists
dealing with the IPv6 system, who makes these errors more likely. A part from that there are
various challenges which also experienced which includes.
Lack of knowledge
It is quoted that knowledge is the remedy to ignorance. The lack of knowledge has created a
lot of challenges for user who intend to migrate to IPv6 ,this has hindered the transition process
as many people lack technological knowledge which can help them identify the advantages of
IPv6 and how to move to the system(Barolli et al., n.d.).
Transition costs

TECHNOLOGY REPORT 3
Many industries have already investment heavily in IPv4 tools. Furthermore, one of the key
technologies which hindered the collapse of the IPv4 devices is the Network Address Translation
. Bearing in mind that NAT works, although it has experienced is own difficulties, it might be
hard to defend the cost associations involved in relocation to IPv6.For instance, as a user, he/she
may not put a lot of consideration on how the traffic is relayed to the Internet, whether it uses
IPv4 address or the IPv6 address. In situations whereby ISPs don not see the business case and
there are existing policies encouraging the adoption of IPv6 system, then companies will not be
keen to invest IPv6.
Compatibility problems
IPv6 system was not planned to be well-matched with the IPv4 system and therefore
businesses need to recognize the challenges which may come about with transition IPv6. These
businesses may still have legacy systems which do not back IPv6 system and therefore the
businesses may be reluctant to implement the IPv6 system.
Legacy System Matter
Legacy systems is just old systems. They probably miss some popular functionality
from present technology, however still exist since they perform vital or significant function for
the business, therefore there is no major purpose to change it. With the IPv6 implementation, it
is worth reexamining as the systems around legacy applications are transforming. When a
business adopts IPv6, the computer on the network must to be able to get a IPv6 address, beside
their present IPv4 address(Marinescu ,2017). In case the device cannot use the v6 address, it will
ultimately trigger problems and conflicts in not being able to be found or communicate correctly
. It is likely to force it to apply v4, however as more IPv6 capable structures come online in the

business network, the legacy atmospheres will develop to become more of
responsibility(Marinescu ,2017).
The present version of the IP in the market on Internet systems , IPv4 address, has
substantial challenge for which the only long lasting resolution is to switch to IPv6 address.
Substantial efforts to encourage IPv6 implementation have been under way in numerous
nations for many years, including Japan, China, South Korea, United States and Taiwan, and
are starting to generate fruit: the IPv6 implementation is growing, mostly in Asian nations
where determinations have been the greatly concentrated(Marinescu ,2017). Even though all of
these nations are main trading and strategic associates with Australia. It is irrational to expect
industry to make an early transition to IPv6 of its own volition due to reluctance of individual
businesses to become first adopters. In case this current trend carries on, it is expected that
countries such as Australia will be late adopters of IPv6 system, and even though avoiding
early implementation is sensible at a personal level, communally it can be conflicting to the
state interest.
The consequences of overlooking IPv6 relocation strategy
Companies which delay their IPv6 relocation strategy put themselves at jeopardy. In the
near-term, the company will run the risk of being incapable of communicating with clienteles.
When the IPv4 devices run out, sites with the IPv4 will not be available. In the long run, the
company could experience more technical work. Employers will be enforced to get access
through large-scale NAT appliances, that will reduce their functionality on IPv4-Internet.
Numerous layers of the NAT for business will create complication and performance slow down.
Network experts could take a significant amount of time taking part in the shell game in their
businesses' systems by taking the public IPv4 address they have and switching it around to

applications which require it, and then handling it more in the secluded addressing area (Barolli
et al., n.d.).
Conclusion
There are numerous challenges which can be experienced when switching to the IPv6; on the
other hand, networks will must change to IPv6 system in near future. We have witnessed
networks by now which are making the change in order to offer superior services. The change is
not an overnight job, however there are tools such as dual-stack, IPv6 translation .There are
many advantages which comes which this change therefore people must make the change in
good time to ensure that there is safe and high quality services to the end users of IPv6 system.
