of Australia, where it is evident that the most suitable broadband services are not being

investigating the data of households with and without internet access and then suggest
suitable service for them. The report then provides suggestions on how NBN adoption can be
increased and mentions the reason behind the digital divide. Then the report then talks about
cyber bullying and how schools can utilize information systems to prevent it. The report also
provides the business process flow diagram for St George Bank in dealing with credit card
application requests as also suggest improvements that can be added over existing methods.
After this the report ends by providing conclusions.

Proportion of households in New South Wales (NSW) in 2016-17 had Internet Access at
home and Comparison with Total Proportion of Households with Internet Access in
Australia in 2016-17
The proportion of households in the state of New South Wales in Australia to be
found having internet access is up to 85.2% (Mascheroni & Ólafsson, 2016). This has grown
substantially by almost 20% over the last decade. The most significant growth has been
noticed from the households with children below 15 years of age. In comparison, the total
proportion of households of Australia with internet access have also jumped handsomely to
86.1%. The use cases for the internet access from these households are found to be internet
access through gaming consoles, internet based music or video playback, TVs with internet
connection, tablets, smartphones, desktop computers and laptops.

Internet Service Providers in Australia provide a range of broadband services such as
ADSL, Wireless Broadband, Cable and NBN technologies. Explanation of broadband
technologies and discussion on what technology would be most suitable for cities,
regional Australia and remote Australia.
Asymmetric digital subscriber line or ADSL refers to that technology
of DSL broadband communications which gets used to connect to the Internet. When
compared with traditional broadband lines, ADSL broadband networks allow higher
capacities of data for being transmitted over current copper and telephone lines called POTS.
Microfilter is a special filter which gets installed in the subscriber's telephone lines for
allowing ADSL as well as regular voice or telephone services for use simultaneously.
Wireless broadband refers to high speed internet and data services that get delivered
over wireless local area networks or WLAN and wireless wide area network or WWAN.
Wireless broadband services can be delivered in both fixed and or portable approaches. The
fixed wireless broadband services are used to bring internet access to specific places like
homes and office premises. Examples of fixed wireless solutions can be LMDS or Local
Multipoint Distribution System and MMDS or Multichannel Multipoint Distribution
Services. Mobile Wireless Broadband service are used in bringing internet access to users
who are on the move. Examples of wireless broadband services can be GPRS and LTE.
Cable Internet access or in short cable Internet, is the broadband Internet service
type that makes use of similar infrastructure as cable TVs. Same as digital subscriber
lines and fibre channel services for networks in premises, cable Internet can provide network
edge connections or last mile access from the ISPs to end users. This gets integrated with the
cable TV infrastructure similar to DSL that makes use of existing telephone networks.
National Broadband Networks that is NBN refers to a form of high speed broadband
network that has been launched by the Australian government. NBN is responsible for
providing high speed broadband services to all offices and homes in Australia (Suessspeck et
al., 2015). Along with internet telephone services are also provided so that ISPs can provide

In Table 2 during the period 2016-17 in NSW there were 85.2% of households with
Internet Access, 14.7% households without Internet Access. During the same period in
Victoria there were 86.8% of households with Internet Access and 13.2% without

and availability of Internet in both regional and urban areas of Australia.

quintile where 24.8% have no internet which even surpasses the remote and very remotely
located households among which 22.9% households do not have internet. Hence it can be
understood that more than remoteness of where households are located, it is the cumulative
household income that play the major role in determining whether a household is likely to
obtain internet services. The digital divide is therefore between the more economically
empowered people and the poorer ones. This is why government schemes of providing NBN
can work more effectively if provided at cheaper rates.

As per table 3, there are several devices that are being used by the households for
accessing the internet. These are mainly desktop computers, laptops, mobiles and
smartphones, tablets, TVs with internet connections, music or video players with internet

Internet Protocol television or IPTV refers to delivery of television contents
through the Internet Protocol or IP based networks. This is completely different from the
traditional delivery methods like terrestrial, cable and satellite based formats. Instead of

Cyberbullying refers to the type of bullying which occurs over digital space and can
be experienced from use of mobile phones, desktop computers, smartphones as well as tablets
(Waasdorp & Bradshaw, 2015). Cyberbullying takes place in the form of SMS, Texts or even
apps and sometimes also online through social media, different forums, or games in which
people are able to see or be a part of creating and sharing contents. Cyberbullying comprises
of sharing, posting or sharing of negative minded content that are psychologically harmful,
contain falsified facts, or contain abusive messages about a person (Corcoran, Guckin &
Prentice, 2015). Generally this is done by sharing personal and private data of people to
somebody else or the entire public thereby leading to embarrassment and humiliation of that
individual (Whittaker & Kowalski, 2015). Sometimes cyberbullying can cross line and tread
to unlawful and even criminal behaviour.
The data present in table 5 help schools and governments in monitoring how cyber
bullying is affecting the children, whether there needs to be more awareness programmes for
these children to better deal with cyber bullying or even counselling programmes for those
that have already fallen victim to cyberbullying. It is found that people of the urban regions
and states of Australia are more likely to fall victim to cyberbullying.

be easily used to form an online portal for all users be it students, teachers and general staff
where these users can report the bullying acts. The online portal should also have the option
to share the bullying incident as anonymous so that identity of that individual can be
protected. It should also be scrutinized that every bullying incident is effectively addressed
and hence there should be a ticket resolution scheme in place for every bullying incident
reported (Wozencroft et al., 2015). The individual reporting the bullying incident should be
able to track the progress the ticket with full transparency as also be able to share the
information with law enforcement agencies if need be. This anonymous and on the fly anti-
bullying system will only embolden people to fight cyberbullying and discourage the
individuals with malicious and unlawful intentions.

The diagram shown above in figure 1 explains the business process flow of St George
Bank in accepting and processing of credit card application requests (Osis & Solomencevs,
2016). The diagram divides the processes of the bank into the processes of the front office as
well as the set of processes for the back office of the bank.
The start node indicates that the processes for dealing with credit card application
start at the front office where the applicant is asked to fill and submit the credit card
application form (Zareapoor & Shamsolmoali, 2015). Thereafter the front office initiates the
process of verification and validation of the credit card application request. It is now that the
back office gathers all the applicant’s information from the front offices and completes
validation. If the applicant fails the validation process, he is asked to submit further
documents to complete successful validation, when validation is successful the processing of
application is made.
If the application gets approved, the credit card is issued and the kit is delivered
otherwise a reject message is sent and with this the credit card application processes of St
George Bank is handled.

diagram and justify how those improvements can lead to better user experience. You

Today online banking has proved as a deciding factor in ensuring customer
satisfaction (Ka ko & Punzi, 2015). Hence streamlining the credit card application process by
leveraging the net banking services and making the processes transparent to the applicant
helps gain the trust of customers (Moro, Cortez & Rita, 2015). Also a lot of time and
inconvenience is saved by allowing the customer to submit additional documents if required
from the comfort of home at any time of day.
As a result there should exist newer processes for the net banking functionality. These
can include providing customers with digital forms for application of credit cards, Initiating
of validation process of submission of these digital application forms. These processes are to
operate in parallel with respect to manual filling of credit card application forms in the front
office (von Rosing et al., 2015). The big difference being, the customer should be able to
avail the service 24/7 and from any location with internet access. Once the validation process

customers and thereby the overall business of St George Bank.
