This report presents a design for virtualizing the IT infrastructure of a restaurant chain, aiming for optimal resource utilization and cost savings. The current system, with multiple underutilized servers, is analyzed to identify areas for improvement through virtualization. The report details hardware and software requirements, including ESXI, and provides sketches of the infrastructure's logical and physical diagrams. It explains the configuration process for the hypervisor, focusing on VMware's ESXI, and compares it with cloud computing options like AWS. The architectural diagram of cloud computing is also provided. The goal is to reduce the number of physical servers, enhance high availability, and demonstrate the benefits of virtualization in terms of cost and efficiency. The report concludes with a list of references supporting the design and concepts discussed.
