3. Ethical Dilemma
Scenario 1:
Dr. Smith upon receiving the Iriat’s paper even though Iriat submitted the paper late and the
essay is well written, he fall into an ethical dilemma to whether he should ignore the late
submission rule and award Iriat a Credit or whether he should stick to the rules that dictate
late submissions penalties. Also the fact that Iriat Struggles with English and here she is
submitting a well written essay which is not her usual thing leaves Dr. Smith with so many
questions as to whether Iriat did the work herself or she copied elsewhere? The dilemma

and submitted as her own work. Dr. Smith is left in an ethical dilemma as to whether he
should cancel the Pass Mark he gave to Iriat or should just ignore Sarah B.
Scenario 2:

the law, her actions or the factory emissions level are affecting the nearby environment

4. Ethical outcomes
Scenario 1
According to Virtue Ethical Theory, Dr. Smith ought to stand firm and protect the integrity of
education by rendering Iriat’s Essay as fail [3]. This is because Iriat’s took somebody else’s
research work and submitted as her own. This amounts to cheating and is unethical behaviour
that interferes with the integrity of the education work. Therefore, he should observe
professionalism by doing what is right as per the utilitarian theory irrespective of the
situation.
Scenario 2
Despite the fact that Mitchell has not broken any law in discharging her factory waste, she
should consider doing unto others what she would want others do unto her. There are people
who depend on the rivers and lakes for food and thus she should consider the well-being of
the others by reducing amount of emissions discharged to the lakes and rivers. She should
uphold Kantianism theory, which suggest that one should consider the outcome of their
actions and act in the right manner despite whether the action is right or wrong.
