1INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY ETHICS
Executive Summary
Roy Tabalbag and Geecy Rebucas, both the couple was residing in a small flat at Mona road.
Geecy had an illicit affair with the cook, Amin Sthapit and this triangle love story ultimately
costs Amin's life. The report also showcased utilitarianism, deontology, virtue and contract-
the four ethical theories in details. According to utilitarianism theory, Tabalbag must be kept
imprisoned as Amin was innocent. According to deontology theory, Tabalbag should not kill
Amin in any way as Amin was innocent and he was not the main culprit after all. According
to virtue theory, he loved his girlfriend so he could not tolerate seeing her with another man,
so he stabbed Amin. Geecy tried to stop him but Tabalbag did not stop and killed Amin, this
adamant attitude is not acceptable. According to contract ethics theory, he must be
imprisoned so that the society can learn that he should not repeat this kind of act ever in
future.

1. Introduction
Roy Tabalbag and Geecy Rebucas, both the couple was residing in a small flat at
Mona road. Geecy had an illicit affair with the cook, Amin Sthapit and this triangle love story
ultimately costs Amin's life.
The report will highlight on Amin’s murder case and the case will be judged from the
for ethical theories perspective. Tabalbag stabbed Amin and whether it was ethical or not will
be showcased on the basis of utilitarianism, deontology, virtue and contract.
2. Utilitarianism Ethics Theory on Amin Sthapit murder case
Tabalbag found his girlfriend to deceit him and sleeps with another man. Tabalbag in
anger could not control himself and stabbed Amin. Amin was innocent; the main culprit was
his girlfriend. Since Amin was innocent, killing Amin is definitely a loss for his family, for
his closed ones and for the society; the killing of Amin can influence the society negatively.
Tabalbag killed him for his anger and for self-fulfilment and is nothing to do with society.
The murder of Amin will not benefit society in any way, thus this is a serious crime and
cannot be supported (Barrow, 2015). Tabalbag should receive a harsh punishment and the all
of them should learn that anybody should not follow Tabalbag. He could have taken harsh
steps against his girlfriend, could have taken any legal actions but the misdeed he had done is
unforgivable. Tabalbag had accepted he had done a shameful act of man slaughtering
however, he thought that he did the right thing to kill him, so Tabalbag must be imprisoned
(Rosas & Koenigs, 2014). He must realise that killing an innocent person is a wrong idea and
is indeed a misdeed and cannot be entertained.
3. Deontology Ethics Theory on Amin Sthapit murder case
The proposed ethics theory does not entertain killing of an individual. Geecy did the
wrong thing and should be punished. She cheated her boyfriend and started an affair with

Amin. Amin not aware of the fact got involved with her (Playford, Roberts & Playford,
2015). However, Geecy called Amin to their flat and got into a physical relationship.
Tabalbag suspected that Geecy was involved with some other man so he kept an eye on
Geecy. He installed the software, Dr Fone to keep track of the deleted messages and phone
lists and he also accessed Geecy’s laptop and found a suspicious mail. From the mail he came
to know that she was going to skip Ryde TAFE's lecture, he tracked her phone number the
next day and found her home, he quickly rushed to the home and found them having sex. He
should have controlled his anger and handle the situation but he should not murder him
(Chakrabarty & Bass, 2015). His girlfriend cheated him, it was Geecy's fault but Amin was
innocent he did no harm to Tabalbarg. Thus it can be concluded Amin did no harm to
anybody and Tabalbag suspecting all these things beforehand should have been acting
responsibly and killing of Amin is completely unethical.
4. Virtue Ethics Theory on Amin Sthapit murder case
The proposed ethical theory will describe Tabalbag as a person. He stayed with his
beloved girlfriend in a flat. Just before a month this incident occurred, Geecy was looking
suspicious, Tabalbag suspected she must be involved with some other man. Geecy should
have chosen between the two, instead she kept the relationship with two men at a time and for
this reason, Amin had to pay the price by giving his life. She should have told everything
about Amin to Tabalbabag and should have left him; instead, she kept it all secret. Tabalbag,
on the other hand, wanted to be sure and so kept an eye on her (Tsoukas, 2017). Tabalbag
installed software, Dr Fone to predict the deleted texts and phone call lists, while accessing
the laptop he too found a suspicious email which stated that she would not be able to appear
Ryde TAFE class (Bruni & Sugden, 2013). He liked to know what she would do in the
meanwhile, he traced Geecy's mobile and rushed to the home and found that she was having

sex with Amin. He loved her girlfriend and seeing her girlfriend in that scenario could not
control himself and stabbed Amin to death.
Even the Public Defender, Eric Wilson depicted that in Tabalbag’s place anybody
would have done the same thing. He handed himself to police and pleaded guilty for the act
of man slaughter, however, he could not able to forgive Amin and his girlfriend that is why
he never accepted the guilty of murder. Thus it can be concluded though he was beloved in
nature; he should not have murdered an innocent man. Geecy tried to stop him but Tabalbag
did not stop and killed Amin, this adamant attitude is not acceptable (Mizzoni, 2017). His
stubborn nature is his weakness. He has committed a crime and this cannot be entertained. He
must be kept captivated and will have to make understand the crime he has committed.
5. Contract Ethics Theory on Amin Sthapit murder case
Social contract ethics basically involves a set of rules and every individual must abide
by this rule. Tabalbag should be knowledgeable about all the crime and should have been
careful. The crime he committed is unpardonable and is not a good example (Vayena et al.,
2015). The incident can make a negative impact on the society. The citizens will learn and act
in an illicit way and this can be dreadful for the society. Thus it is important to maintain
peace, thus each and every individual must follow made by the Australia Government.
Tabalbag though accepted the act of man slaughter is a crime, but he agreed that he did the
right thing killing Amin (Birnbaum & Lach, 2014). He should receive capital punishment and
should be kept captivated.
He could have taken serious actions against his girlfriend as Geecy was the main
culprit. He handed himself to police and accepted that the man slaughtering act was a
misdeed though he was not ready to accept that killing of Amin was a wrongdoing, thus he
must realise that Amin was innocent. He should not have killed Amin. However, he must be

given a capital punishment so that Tabalbag and the society can learn this as a serious crime
and should not replicate (Bowie, 2015). Geecy also should learn that every individual should
respect his or her partner as well as the relationship with the partner.
6. Conclusion
It can be concluded from the above discourse that Tabalbag stabbed and killed Amin.
The report also showcased utilitarianism, deontology, virtue and contract- the four ethical
theories in details. According to utilitarianism theory, Tabalbag must be kept imprisoned as
Amin was innocent. According to deontology theory, Tabalbag should not kill Amin in any
way as Amin was innocent and he was not the main culprit after all. According to virtue
theory, he loved his girlfriend so he could not tolerate seeing her with another man, so he
stabbed Amin. Geecy tried to stop him but Tabalbag did not stop and killed Amin, this
adamant attitude is not acceptable. According to contract ethics theory, he must be
imprisoned so that the society can learn that he should not repeat this kind of act ever in
future.
