Question 1
The IT governance framework is mainly kept in an organization to define the scope and
rules of the information technology that is being utilized in the management and the operational
sections of the company (Kohl and Charlesworth 2013). Information Technology has been one of
the important factors in a business because it is important and essential in order to manage
transactions, information and knowledge that are necessary to initiate and sustain the daily
primary as well as secondary activities within as well as outside the organization. The
organization where I have pursued my internship is “Travel with a Cause” which is an Australian
start up travel agency. The company, according to the Australian Travel department, has the
discretion to use Adobe software to showcase their travel content, plans and experience only to
get an enhanced user experience with the help of excellent presentation which includes audio-
visuals only to increase their efficiency as a travel agency. The company complies with the rules
and regulations stated by the Privacy Act 1988, Spam Act 2003 and Australian Privacy
Principles as its main governing body (Perera et al. 2015). The company also has the discretion
from Australian department of travel and tourism of the usage of the internet judiciously. The
consumers can be inspired, find information, plan their travel experiences, connect with tourism
operators and share their travel stories. The tourism department of Australia has always focused
on the judicious and controlled use of digital media in order to enhance and increase efficiency
of their operations. The social media programs of the company, which are present in Facebook,
Instagram and YouTube has strict rules and regulations related to its usage and limitations which
provides a safe environment for the consumers as well as the viewers and people who are
associated with the company.

Question 2
As far as workplace privacy and security of information is concerned, Tourism
department of Australia has been reviewing their policies to reserve the rights and discretions of
the consumers as well as the users and employees within the genre of travel and tourism in the
country. The company complies by the rules and regulations regarding information technology
scope and usage as directed by the department of tourism of Australia. During the time of my
internship, I have observed that, the company recognizes the importance of privacy rights of not
only its customers but also of its employees. The company complies by the Privacy Act 1988,
Spam Act 2003 and other privacy policies and regulations, data protection laws according to the
model of European Union General and Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) (Baller, Dutta and
Lanvin 2016). Since tourism was the first sector of enterprises in Australia that embraced
information technology, therefore, the information technology paradigm has been considered to
be very important for the company, especially the privacy policies, which forms the basis of the
ethics of the company as well, not just policies alone, which is essential for every travel and
tourism company that utilizes information technology at its core (Perera et al. 2015). As an ICT

professional of the company, I have been given training on the Privacy Act 1988, Spam Act 2003
and other privacy policies and regulations, data protection laws of Australia (Obar and Oeldorf-
Hirsch 2018). The Privacy Act of Australia outlines the personal information handling practices
of the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) (Ferguson et al. 2013).
Therefore, accordingly, I was trained and educated regarding their privacy policies and other
policies which is quite credible in the contemporary world.
