INTRODCUTION
Today’s digitalization world has revolutionized the life of human beings. It has
transformed the way of doing business. the invention of information technology and internet has
created a platform for people to communicate and connect from all around the world. Alongside
it, IT is playing a crucial role in success or failure of businesses (DePoy and Gitlin, 2015). This
is because IT has created vast number of opportunities to expand at global level. they are able to
deliver products and services to large number of people. Moreover, evolution of E commerce has
changed the way of shopping. It has made it easy for people to shop online 24/7 anytime,
anywhere. The major impact of IT is on service sector. now, companies are able to connect to
people more frequently and developed a large customer base.
LITERATUR REVIEW
In present time technology has become an integral part of both business and human
beings. According to Sanders and et.al., 2018, there are different types of software and
application which is used by business in their operations. it has eased the process of performing
various task and functions in effective way. moreover, the overall manual process has become
automated. This has led to increase in operational efficiency of business and attaining goals and
objectives in effective way. hospitality sector consists of variety of services which is offered to
people. As elucidated by Pantano, Priporas and Baier, 2017, technology has integrated the
various operation as well as services. By using IT tools many hotels have gained competitive
advantage in industry. It has also led to failure and success of hotels. Furthermore, they are able
to expand their operations in different markets.
As stated by Alam, Ferreira and Fonseca, 2016, the major impact on IT is on hotel
operations. the implementation of CRM has made it easy to store data in segregated way. it has
made it easy for hotel to analyze it so that services are offered to fulfil their needs. Third parties
are highly involved in providing various types of services to people. They ensure that quality is
maintained and standards are followed. In addition to it, consistency has been a major advantage
for hotel. By using various IT tools and application they measure performance of staff and

process. then, loop wholes are identified and improvements are done. Alongside it, standards are
set to offer services in proper way. the quick providing of services has eased process which has
enabled in delivering right services at right time. another important role IT has played is tracking
of data which is used by hotel to evaluate their performance in different markets. On basis of it,
strategies are developed and implemented. Moreover, value of services has been generated which
has been useful in retaining customers. it has also enhanced productivity of employees which
who are able to deal and handle situation very well. This has led to creating a better
organizational culture. With this goals and objectives are attained by proper utilization of
resources.
In similar way The Lanesborough is successfully operating in hospitality sector. with the
implementation of IT they are offering service online. It has changed as way of marketing as
well. The use of social media and digital marketing has been major source of service sector to
attract new people (Teberga, Oliva and Kotabe, 2018). The Lanesborough is using various
social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, etc. to advertise their products and services.
Through help of it, they post blogs, photos, etc. which helps in attracting people. Moreover,
digital marketing has also reduced cost of The Lanesborough and is an effective way of
generating brand awareness in the market. in addition to it, by analyzing reviews and feedback of
customer hotel provide them suggestions and solve their issues.
But on the other hand as said by Urh, Vukovic and Jereb, 2015, the use of IT in
operations can resulted in rise in ethical and social issues. The Lanesborough have to follow
rules and regulations of country to that services are offered in properly. Furthermore, it there
occurs an advancement in technology it may force hotel to change their IT infra. The staff may
not be honest in offering services. they can follow discriminate practices in it. the staff can also
violate code of conduct practices. They may not follow proper practices which will creates
ethical issue. furthermore, the standards that are set in offering services might not be followed by
employees. It will impact on service quality.

preference of customer new services has to be developed. this will also impact on culture of The

PAN- personal area network which is used by individuals for personal use. it is commonly used
in building or house consisting of router. The speed of PAN is very high and fast. Also, it does
not require large space or high cost to establish.
CAN- When a college or university is having their own network it is known as CAN. Here,
different departments are connected through one main server. The cost of installing CAN
depends on use of technology or software used by university according to their needs
LAN- it covers range of about 100 meters to 1 Km and is most commonly used by business. due
to its high bandwidth and frequency the data and information is shared quickly. it consists of a
centralized server where all data is stored (DePoy and Gitlin, 2015). Moreover, it requires less
cost to design and maintain LAN
MAN- it is referred as Metropolitan area network in which different LAN are connected
together. It covers wide area and range as compared to LAN. There may be two or more than two
servers included in MAN and are placed at different locations. The structure its complex so it
requires advance tools to maintain its efficiency.
WAN- Wide area network which is largest in all network technology. It is globally connected
with help of satellite. The speed of WAN is low due to its low frequency. The structure of WAN
is very critical and requires huge amount of cost to design as well as maintain it.
Each network technology has different features that depends on their range and frequency
(Difference between network. 2016.). The differences are shown below:-

customers. also, it will be beneficial for them to enhance operational efficiency. Through this,
they will be able to gain competitive advantage in the market. From the above it can be analyzed
that The Lanesborough has made many changes in their operations (Sanders and et.al., 2018).
they have modified the overall housekeeping services. Besides this, an online customer help desk
can be established which will solves customer queries and enquires within 24 hours. Moreover,
by developing a centralized WAN network the communication between management and
employees can be enhanced. It will also help in policies or changes made are applied overall in
various location. So, having similar and fixed way of offering services attract customers.
By investing in IT The Lanesborough will be able to maintain their service standards.
Other than this, it will enable in making things easier. It will help in finding out deficiencies in
services and improving it. so, by solving issues at right time will be useful in increasing
satisfaction of customers. in this way a loyal customer base can be built in different countries.

not affected (Pantano, Priporas and Baier, 2017).
FINDINGS
From above it can be said that there has been great change in operations of The
Lanesborough. due to this staff are assigned new roles and responsibilities. In addition to it, the
establishment of network technology has developed a centralized server which has ease in
communication process. the staff is able to manage data and information in segregated manner.
Also, by accessing it customer issues are solved immediately and their need are determined.
Thus, services are offered accordingly (Alam, Ferreira and Fonseca, 2016). The Lanesborough
have also developed code of conduct in performing operations. these are strictly followed while
providing services to people. This has benefited in maintaining quality of services and increasing
satisfaction of customer. It is main reason why The Lanesborough is having such a large and
loyal customer base.
In housekeeping services, several IT applications are installed. For example, OPERA
system has been installed which has integrated overall services. Now, operations are not
dependent on one another rather by just sharing information staff perform it. it has also fastened
the speed of employees (Mendling and et.al., 2017). they are consuming less time in attaining
their targets. Besides this, cost has been reduced as waste materials are eliminated. It has resulted
in rise in profits. another thing observed that IT system helped in development of new services.
Due to this large number of people were attracted as The Lanesborough created value from
service.

Hereby, it is concluded from report that IT has played a vital role in growth and
development of businesses. It has created vast number of opportunities to grab. The
Lanesborough has become successful by implementing various IT tools and investing in it. also,
by developing a network they are able to connect with people worldwide. Furthermore, there has
been increased in productivity of operations. by working with new processes or method services
are delivered in effective way and attaining goals in given time. so, investing in IT tools has
benefited The Lanesborough in retaining their customers. they are also able to attract more
people by building a positive image in their minds.
