Introduction
For setting up a network structure in any organization, it is important to establish the
idea of the IT infrastructures in all the possible ways for setting up a network design. There
are few concepts that needs to be understood for establishing the knowledge for feasibly
working with the networking devices and the concepts can be explained in this particular
report. It is essential to understand the goal behind the implementation plan and the set goals
of the project before understanding the criteria of the application of those ideas. Any
organization that is required to implement the development of a network design is expected to
be previously known to the person who would be in charge to make it easy for the
organization and the person to develop a mutual understanding and comprehend the
requirements of the implementation. In the similar way, the organization of AusEd is in dire
necessity of establishing a network setup which would be providing with effective security
while its accession and even while transferring and sharing data, information and resources.
The organization of AusEd is said to have a total amount of about 2000 hosts. They have
recently faced a loss in the network system that was pre-existing in the organization. This is
why they are currently looking for a new networking system that would have the ability to
provide services to all the hosts having no breakdowns and complaints. It is required that the
IT manager needs to know the total number of hosts available for the proposed connection
system. It would be easier to determine the number of the hosts when the number of
workstations are identified and the number of people to be served are understood before the
implementation of the project. This helps in understanding the type of equipment need for the
implementation plan.
There is another major concern before the starting of the project. This is regarded the
cost estimation plan for the organization of AusEd, who want to implement the new network
set up as the proposed plan of network upgradation. It is required that to make the project
implementation plan absolutely successful, it is essential to understand and consider all the
terms of issues as well. These issue considerations can be pointed out as the security of the
network that the organization requires, the flexibility and the scalability of the system if it is
required to add further devices in near future. Other security concerns may include the
security of the devices with the utilization of the Firewalls and the Virtual Private Networks
or VPNs.

Project Description
The organization of AusEd already has an existing network system, however; the
previous experiences of mishaps have made the organization to think about establishing a
new network system according to the setup of to the requirements of the organization. The
primary requirement of the organization is to set up a network system that would not
eliminate the previously existing network, maintain it, and make sure it still functions like
before using an exclusive MYOB software (Tanenbaum, 2016). There are also other areas
that are required to look about the areas of improving the relation of the organization with
their customers and has an intention of implementing the Sugar CRM Software along with
the Microsoft Exchange Server for sending and receiving of emails. The project will thus
provide a diagram that would explain all the required system that has been followed for the
implementation plan. The primary key of this particular assignment is to formulate a proper
concept of the implementation plan that would have a clear vision and analysis of the design
behind the network system. The organization of AusEd has over 2000 hosts as a collective
idea gathered from all the departments of sales, marketing, admin, course delivery divisions,
and all the others (Francik et al., 2018). This is because the organization would require an
evaluation that would have the details about the locations of the networks and would also
help in the selection of the most appropriate model for designing the proposed network
system. The devices that are required to be utilized for this purpose of designing a network
system for the organization of AusEd would include the likes of printers, scanners, personal
computers, photocopiers, and even laptops.
The utilization of the Wide Area Network in this particular case would be a much
wider concept to adapt to since the organization of AusEd has its branches all over the
country and it is required that all these branches stay connected to the headquarters. This
would be described in details with the help of a logical diagram (Majchrzak, Markus &
Wareham, 2016). The institution is resided in the student premise where a Wireless Internet
access is required to let the student access the network within the close proximity of the
school premises and would not have to leave the school premises. Therefore, keeping all
these constraints in mind, the logical design is created including the required personal
computers, servers, security devices, and the firewalls, VPNs and others.

4IT INFRASTRUCTURE
Purpose of the Project
The project objectives have to be formulated and it is also required that the planning
is done accordingly depending of the requirements of the network accessibility. For this, the
strategic and technological plan, both are devised respectively.
The IT manager puts forward a strategic plan which looks forward to the gathering of
funds from diversified sources (Daft, 2015). The planning would also consider all the non-
activity cost in the project planning to eliminate them from the system and make the project
much more cost efficient. The strategic planning of the project is implemented immediately
to gain the idea about the about the expectations from the project in the near future. For the
technological plan, it is required that the organization of AusEd utilizes Moodle software
used for the students to keep connected with each and the university even while offline but
connected to the network. In addition, AusEd also needs to be planning about the
development of an add-on Moodle for acting on the projects so that the student can look
forward to take exams on their school desktops (Pikas et al., 2015). It is important that this
project understands the requirements of the future scalability and utilized the implementation
of additional setting in the device to accommodate requirements in the future.
It is difficult to understand the scope of the project but it can be cleared by a
feasibility study to understand the requirements for the better analysis of the situation on the
project and the organization (Zylka et al., 2016). There are requirements in the organization
that would make sure that the network management is an easy procedure and takes care of all
the considerations. These considerations include flexibility, scalability, network security and
network management. When all these constraints are taken care of, AusEd would expect to
have a better and smooth outlook at the management of the proposed project that would

ensure the growth of technology and a well-organized network in the near future for a long
term (Baldissera et al., 2017).
Assumptions
It is required to make the project hugely successful and for that the project
implementation plan needs to have a certain idea about the assumptions to be made in the
project planning ensuring the objective of the proposal for the project. The specific
assumptions made for this particular project can be listed as follows:
It is assumed that the management is capable of complying with all the
requirements describe as per the IT Manager.
The logical diagram would produce all the information in details regarding the
system. Further expectations can be formulated from this (Salehi, Mahootchi
& Husseini, 2017).
The organization of AusEd would be buying all the required devices for the
project implementation without any hindrance.
The network costing is assumed to be the estimations that are required to
analyze the budget plan and is just to be considered as an estimation and not
the entire actual cost.
Finally, the Hierarchical design model would be used throughout three
specific layers of the core, access and distribution layers that would be
arranges as per their functions.

Networking Devices
NETWORKING
DEVICE
FUNCTIONS
1. Routers Routers are used for establishing a connection to the resources
with the help of internet via any Local Any Network. This would
be used for establishing the communication of both the sides,
which are the client and the Internet Service Provider.
2. Cables The networking devices used for the establishment of the
connection across the networks are the cables. There are different
variants of the cables that depends on their functions. The cables
about to be used for this particular case are the Ethernet Cat5e,
Ethernet Cat6e, fiber cable and other cables like RJ45 and other
connectors for the establishment of the connection of the system
to the network in the most direct way possible.
3. Switch This is a device that helps in the enhancement of the flexibility
and the scalability of the network system throughout the entire
network (Chandrasekharan et al., 2016). This is done with the
help of the configuration of the networking devices. The network
access is established through the switch and creates a router for
the direct communication established with the Internet Service
Providers.
4. Transceiver These devices help in the provisioning of a broadcasting for
wireless signals for people within close proximity. This would
help in increasing the utilization of the smartphones and devices
like laptops for the portable accession at any time and any place.
5. Servers These services by the servers are provided to maintain the
storage, transmission and transfer of the resources from the
devices through a specific Local Area Network. There are many
varieties possible but for the AusEd, the requirements would be
as follows:
The Mail Servers would be used for the transfer of the
networks as it helps in the management of the transfer of
email through network. This would ensure that the server
would ensure the effective storage of the sent and
received emails. The chat records can be obtained easily.
Other application for the server can be regarded as the
Dynamic Host Configuration protocol Server or DCHCP
(Peng et al., 2015). This would be used to assign proper

protocols for the internet addresses. This would be added
to the workstations over the network, including the
working over the networks. It is expected that it would
configure the IP addresses of the workstations
automatically.
Another server that has been used for the management of
the transfer of the resources across the AusEd. network is
the File Server.
Another server used in this case would be the DNS
server, which is essential, to match the domain names
along with the IP addresses in the network.
Other minor servers used in this case would be the proxy
servers.
6. Workstations These would be the devices utilized for the effective
communication within the network which would include
personal computers, scanners, and printers.
7. Security Devices There would be the utilization of the Firewalls and the Virtual
Private Networks used for filtering data traffic and for creation of
a safe local area network respectively (Russell et al., 2015).
8. There would be other devices used for this purpose as well to support the network of
the organization in general (Tabassum et al., 2015). These would include, RJ-45
connectors and points, scanners for the documents and other images, the printers to
be used for printing the soft and hard copies, the sharing of devices to be used as
makeshift routers, unavailable ISP modems and Network Interface cards.

addresses for all the workstations utilising the networking devices. If any issue is found, it
can be expected that the IP addressed of the workstation is configured (Margolis et al., 2018).
It would thus, be easier to analyse and find out the source of the problem so that it can be
justified and the problem can be eradicated.
The DNS Server would be helping the organization to match all the files in the
internet to their resources in the servers. It would help in the distant learning as the students
would be able to remotely handle the services and log into the school website without being
present in the school premises.

Justification for using the above hardware
The hardware has been chosen because it is required that the devices generate the
features of interoperability and appropriate compatibility (Shayan et al., 2018). The
integration is easy and the communication would be well established. The devices selected
for the network needs to be done considering the best devices in choice and it is estimated
that there would be no problem in the accommodation of the devices. The security provided
with the firewalls and the VPNs would be scalable and flexible as well.
Growing AusEd to be a sustainable economy
The technology of E-waste has been applied for the designing of the network model
according to the scenario. It is required that the application of the electronic waste is to be
applied. For this reason, the existing equipment have been already dismantled and the
network design helps in the breaking down of the e-waste into pieces (Hilmani, Maizate &
Hassouni, 2018). This is why, a three tiered hierarchical network design has been formulated
for the AusEd organization for the three layers of access, distribution and core.
Conclusion
The presented research about the implementation of a network design for the
organization of AusEd and all the ways by which the structure and the entire implementation
plan is devised. This has been explained with the help of listing the equipment and explaining
their integration through the logical diagrams. The budget of the implementation plan is also
described as above. The hierarchical network design model provides a clear picture of the
scalable and flexible research and creates the ability to enable additional devices as well
assigning flat network design mode.
